C. It started pretty well with a LOT of promising trailers but lulled in the middle and then didn’t nail the finish. Also too much CGI not enough gameplay. Lastly too many awards were rushed through.
But there were still a lot of good looking games overall.
I mean it probably was the best show yet but it’s way too long…
Still a better option to watch the trailers later and read the award winners.
There was just way too much filler, swear to god 50% of the trailers where Gatcha-Gooner games. The start was good, but there wasn't anything interesting until the very end.
For me, between D or C.
Even so, I think Xbox has an increasingly worrying problem: many projects seem to have no problem skipping the Xbox Store. Some of these games will probably arrive later (which is still a problem), and others are Asian or very niche games, but it's clear that for many developers, Xbox is not a priority. This, added to the fact that Xbox already does everything multiplatform, leaves the platform in a really bad situation.
Someone at Microsoft should bang their fist on the table and wake up the management, or things at Xbox could reach a point of no return.
Better than expected. Though I have to dock as many points as humanly possible for putting the mental image of Geoff Keighley and Miss Piggy having a romantic mattress mambo in my head.
Six years of therapy undone in a few minutes.
F because it's still The Game Awards.
I feel like whoever put A is a huge 33 fan.
A D. Megaman could’ve boosted it to at least a B if Clair Obscur didn’t receive literally every award it was nominated for except for one. It’s bad when you get grateful that the bots gave an award to a gatcha game.
I hate the doritopope but between Exodus, Total War 40k, and Casey Hudson making an Old Republic game, that's an automatic A+.
C/D couple of good announcements. The rest was trash really.
C.
It got real boring knowing Clair Obscur would sweep up 33 game awards.
Too much cinematic trailers. No game, no hype.
The big finish was a damn joke.
Miss Piggy carried hard though.
Also, they should stop rapid firing most of the awards and GIVE THE ESPORTS WINNERS ACCEPTANCE SPEECHESS!
I would say B for the announcements. Some cool games there. Awards part I never really care about.
Disappointed in the lack of Gears Eday news but I suppose they are saving all that for their Direct next month
As a show named The Game Awards there's little to celebrate the amazing games and the the people behind it. Some of the Awards were like this could've been an email. While unnecessary game trailers fill up most of the runtime. Someone should knock Geoff big ego a peg or two down. Nothing speaks about this is an award show.I don't see any game journalist bring this up at all.
It was bad, only interested in tomb raider & gang of dragon
I went to bed 🤣
But catched up now, it seemed an ok C to D
for me.
Nothing that special.
Even RE9 doesn’t seem that exciting to me.
I prefer the action RE8 style all the way through and I think a lot of this game will be creepy run and hide rubbish and let’s be scared that I can’t stand.
I demand action and lot of it 🤣
It's a joke so I guess an F is needed as it fails at what it's supposed to be.
No idea, I was asleep. I’m just catching up with all the announcements now. Tempting to say F just for the hostile European timing but nah I won’t be that petty lol
I watched the first ten minutes then went to bed have to be up early getting my kids ready for school but from what I'm seeing about it on here it looks about a C nothing amazing for me but some solid looking games I'd be interested in especially how the new tomb raider will be I'm on the fence about the remake though I didn't enjoy the original games!
Had a look at the list of announcements and there was not really anything that peaked my interest.
Not sure if it is because I know 99% of the trailers will be CGI or that my passion for video gaming is slowly dying away
Also Lenny kravitz in the new bond game??
Why??
I would of loved a cameo of pierce brosnan or something like that Lenny is cool but a homage to the actual actors who played bond would be better imo!
Except Daniel Craig I hate those gritty borefest films yawn🥱
@ZeD Don't you say that zed you survived Bruce Willis with a samurai sword you can get through this✊
@Chip-Douglas lol. There is nothing in the upcoming year that I am really excited for. Think I am in a slump. Completed Mafia TOC and that was 'meh' and I have a dozen incomplete games installed on my Xbox.
On a positive note, Cyberpunk is keeping me invested on my Switch 2 👍
@ZeD Sure it's getting to be an expensive hobby nowadays so you need to be enjoying it or whats the point there's plenty other things to waste our hard earned money on nowadays ha ✌️
Expedition 33 breaking records Control and Resident Evil trailers....quite a show
A lot better than last years.
Didn't watch it but the reveals dont seem particularly great after watching the trailers. All the other bloat could only bring it down further for me. D
Thankfully I don't watch it live so that I can skip past the mostly missable stuff and get to the games.
I'm usually really positive, but that was an F.
@Gabrie These are just small games ,all the big titles are also on Xbox. And when it comes to indie games, there are plenty that are exclusive to Xbox and not on PS5. Winter Burrows comes to mind, along with many others. So enough with the bad faith.
What really surprised me was the number of games that are Steam-only. That’s where you can actually say there’s a real difference between platforms. But that works out fine, since the next Xbox will be able to run Steam games , unlike the PS6…
I was playing Xbox. Gladly, I don't have to watch that insufferable show, and only read news about games that interested me, in this case two: Mega Man: Dual Override, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
Maybe, I'll play them in 5 years after released, and sold for a rational price.
The ending was not good.
I got through half of it and turned it off. I wasn't really excited for anything
I thought the show was excellent to be fair. I watched all of it (half live, and then went to bed at 2 a.m., and watched the second half this afternoon), but had to avoid these forums today as I did not want any spoilers!
One thing that really struck me though, was that there were something 8 or 10 AAA high-quality games that were shown, and which were skipping Xbox, but were releasing on the PS5. None of these games were made by Sony, most if not all were also releasing on PC, so it may not be the case that Sony had brought any exclusivity. However, it was really noticeable just how many of these games were not releasing on the Xbox, which if borne out, is really not good for the brand, and I'd love to know why these developers have chosen to avoid Xbox...
