We've got a big surprise coming out of TGA today as new studio Wildlight Entertainment announced Highguard; a new free-to-play shooter coming to Xbox next month. What's the big news then, you ask? Well, some of the folks behind Titanfall and Apex Legends are at the helm of this one; which is some pretty incredible FPS pedigree if you ask us.
You can get your first glimpse of Highguard via the the trailer up above and, well, you won't have to wait long to try the game for yourself either. This new Xbox Series X|S shooter comes out on January 26th, 2026 - yes, Highguard is out in less than two months!
Here's some more information on Highguard ahead of next month's release:
"From the creators of Apex Legends and Titanfall, comes Highguard: a PvP raid shooter where players will ride, fight, and raid as Wardens, arcane gunslingers sent to fight for control of a mythical continent. Battle rival Warden crews for possession of the Shieldbreaker, then break into and destroy the enemy base to secure territory in this all-new breed of shooter."

Absolutely terrible final announcement.
Looks like it could be fun. I wonder how big the teams are?
Really disappointing final announcement. Granted I had probably fallen for the pre-show hype and thought it might be something huge.
But the game looked cool, if you like that sort of thing... but I don't.
Why isn't it in the Xbox store? They added every other game announced at TGA.
I'm very curious see how this game plays. My only major concern is it's free to play. Which means it will eventually become, pay to win, sooner, rather than later.

@GuyinPA75 Apex wasn't pay to win. But I'm more concerned that they trying way to hard to add all these random mechanics to this that it'll be unbalanced flop. But I will try it out. I just want Titanfall 3 tho...
They really should have ended on Total War 40K which was absolutely bonkers, or the Old Republic game. This game may or may not be good but it wasn't worthy of that spot and it actually hurt it because of expectations.
Need a Titanfall remaster !
Makes me think of Apex Legends meets Paladins.
Never had I physically saw air leave a room so fast as it did after this announcement at TGA. Snuck under the radar because if radar had picked it up, Hegseth would have double tapped it, it looks that bad.
Seriously, a F2P shooter being the final announcement was just embarrassing. TGA this year was a letdown in terms of new reveals.

@Smackosynthesis At this point, it might be a " new breed" , but by now hero shooters are all inbred/ all related and the offspring just come out worse....
