Totally addicted to spreading managed democracy in Helldivers 2, I've got friends online every night playing. Unlocked impossible difficulty last night. Got the Halo warbond and back up to 500 super credits now towards the next one.

@masofdas it's implied because when timed exclusivity exists, the developer almost never talks about rival platforms until that agreement is over. Yes their language makes it possible but it would be a weird one.

I do think articles saying it's confirmed are jumping the gun, even though it's most likely the case

Haven't played a Monster Hunter Stories game yet, I'm interested.

I find both Josef Fares games and Hollow Knight (have not gotten to Silksong yet) to be simultaneously very good and wildly overrated.

Was a fan of DAO as a (inferior) successor to Baldur's gate but the sequels weren't great, and Skillups review of this one was enough for me to know I can safely pass

My Thursday group just started Clans last week. We better step on it! It's surprisingly polished compared to Mercenaries, tons of cutscenes.

Same group did Dead Island 2 a while back and Darktide was an every night game for a while. This might be a bad month for great coop games!

Will get to it eventually but I'm obsessed with Helldivers right now

@smoreon I consider several games on the list sins but yes I could have worded it better.

Goldeneye was maybe an ok game for kids (violence aside), but if you had access to a PC it was an unplayable dumpster fire. A year of playing Quake with WASD+mouse controls, and then having a friend ask you to come play Goldeneye with them, was pretty awful. It was a very different time for console FPS. 30 years later everything still plays like Quake, consoles had a few more years to get there.

Final Fantasy Tactics is 1 of 4 Playstation games Ive owned in my life and I'm very much looking forward to replaying it.

Helldivers 2, pretty addicted. I'm even playing with gasp randoms which I never do.

It has to be Hexen, had a blast reliving it and also played a little Heretics while I was at it for the first time.

Now, best game of the month and possibly year for me is Helldivers 2. I just can't suppress the urge to spread managed democracy.

No, my wife got bored and didn't finish it. She got to the part in the jungle before tapping out.

I already played it and loved it (understatement), but I could see Infinite Wealth coming to game pass.

@Kaloudz I never heard of these either! But I didn't have a C64 or these other systems. I had a Colecovision and my cousin had Intellivision II, and my neighbor had a TI-99, so I'm more familiar with those libraries.

The hype was justified. Most of my gaming is co-op and Helldivers 2 is easily in the pantheon of greatest co-op games. Its just pure fun. I do agree it's not visually striking but as you go up in difficulties it makes sense, the wide open battlefields with absurd numbers of enemies and nuclear sized explosions going off everywhere, you have to give up detail to achieve that. But it seems to run nearly flawlessly to me, I couldn't say if that's the case without vrr though.

@IOI if it's any consolation, the pc improvements now are helping the next gen "console" get off to a better start.

@FarmDog08 they will never do this because it hurts their business model. It's a first person game, you can't even see the skin yourself. The customers are paying to make other people see the skins. They're going to cater to the people paying, not the people complaining.

@Fiendish-Beaver I feel the same way, I only played the Skyrim DLCs 10 years later with the remaster. I rarely replay games.

That said, Starfield has the most interesting New Game+ in the history of video games, so if there ever was a game to replay for DLC this isn't a bad choice.

Had a blast with this last night, me on Xbox and a buddy picked it up on Steam. Can't wait to get a full crew together.

Side note, man the purple alien faction is so much harder than the bugs or robots, holy ****. Like at least the equivalent of 4 difficulties higher.

Hard to watch the hour of Squadron 42 intro and feel like current consoles are some kind of endgame where no improvements are necessary.

Lizardcube RULES. Their remaster of Wonderboy 3 The Dragon's Trap is a bar set so high I haven't seen another remaster even come close.

I haven't had use for a handheld in at least 25 years.

I've got nostalgia for Columns on Game Gear and Tetris on Game Boy but I'm not the market for this now.

It's funny that the week Gears of War remaster is coming out, my entire Gears crew is champing at the bit... for Helldivers.

Otherwise Spiderman wouldn't be first party, and CoD in Japan would be first party Sony game. It's irrelevant. I've never seen funding as the definition, always developer. So that's an interesting thing to hang the argument on.

Yes, Pokemon is a 2nd party game although Nintendo and Gamefreak are far more intertwined through co-ownership of The Pokemon Company than any other example you could possibly give.

Steam on Xbox is the perfect gambit. On paper it's a huge selling point. In reality it will have minimal impact because Xbox gamers don't buy games, theyve been conditioned to rent.

@TrollOfWar It isn't. That's not what a first party game is. First party has nothing to do with the IP. First party is a game developed by a developer owned by the owner of the platform, that's it, that's the entire definition.

People use the term 2nd party for this exact situation, because it's technically third party but obviously the relationship is closer than that.

Spiderman, which Sony does not own the IP, made by Insomniac for Playstation in 2018, was a 2nd party game
Spiderman 2, which Sony does not own the IP, made by Insomniac for Playstation in 2023, was a 1st party game.
The difference is Sony acquired Insomniac in 2019. Zero to do with IP ownership.

Any reviews for the wireless version? I wouldn't buy a wireless controller without seeing input latency tests.

Completely disagree with the first comment, I enjoy reading the staff writers' views. It's a reason I come here. I don't need my video game news to be sterile
