With The Game Awards now wrapped up and lots of this year's releases getting their fair share of attention at the show (and elsewhere), we want to take a little time to discuss the Xbox games that deserved a bit more love throughout 2025.
As is the case pretty much every year, many games tend to fall by the wayside as the months go on - which is totally natural considering how many titles actually release these days. On the Xbox side of things, Microsoft had a pretty busy start to 2025 with the likes of Avowed, South of Midnight and DOOM: The Dark Ages, and those early-year titles can get forgotten about sometimes.
Of course, that's not always the case - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched back in April and has had more than its fair share of plaudits this year. However, accompanying April release South of Midnight hasn't quite had as much attention - something we ranted about a little bit last month at Pure Xbox. We still reckon this one deserved some more love!
Here at the PX offices, we're also big fans of Hazelight's Split Fiction (we can't quite believe this one wasn't even nominated for GOTY at The Game Awards), Rebellion's Atomfall, indie hit Blue Prince and loads more besides. Honestly, it's been a busy year in general and we could go on for ages about what's not had enough love here in 2025.
But we want to know what you think of this topic, which games you think deserve some more attention before we roll over into 2026. Are there any smaller titles that just didn't get much recognition this year? What about a game that wasn't loved by the critics but you thoroughly enjoyed in 2025? Give us your shoutouts down below.
