Lots of unskippable cutscenes.

Circana, which tracks US game spending in dollars, reports that the Xbox Series X accounted for 58% of all total Xbox Series units sold in September, and 51% of all Xbox Series units sold life to date.

From the article I read it as of 2024 51% of total sales were series X - so I’d imagine 2years later it’s not a million miles out still.

@Millionski I wouldn’t expect it to be any different I’d be surprised if it didn’t run best on Pro. But as far as I read it, even the base ps5 is ‘better’ than the X version.

Kinda mad if someone said at the start of this gen that not only would halo be on ps5 but it would get the best version! Who could have predicted that one!

It may not have sold gang busters but I think it will have legs and do perfectly well over on ps.

Last projections showed ps6 to be around $920 in costs. Helix is more powerful and premium so it’s going to have that price tag.

@Millionski oh yeah it’s going to be weird next gen and a strange reset of ‘consoles’ probably the last gen of them - as you would imagine in 10years time or so streaming will be bigger than currently.

I haven’t seen anything to suggest ps6 won’t be subsidised (nor helix) just that component cost is around $920 for ps6

@Millionski helix is going to be defined by its price. If it is premium than that’s going to be its problem regardless of its amazing or bad.

Sony really need to take some lessons from MS regarding back comparability, as they are so far behind -even more so if the rumoured PS handheld is true, some of those old games would work great on it

But those smaller games need to be ones people are interested in. Stuff like Kiln let’s be honest who is the audience?

Where’s the kid friendly games? (As an example) get those next purchasers into the platform.

I love elder scrolls and fallout. Among the best series out there.

But at the same time it’s a little bit depressing that it’s all Bethesda are doing. Plus other studios on the same franchises.

If we are all be honest, the digital ratio has always been higher on Xbox. It’s moving in a PC direction (by all accounts). It would be at least £100 ontop of what is a premium box.

Plus in all honesty people are angry at Sony (myself included) but they won’t change it, and people won’t leave the ecosystem bar a small minority

I predict Xbox will sell X and PS will sell Y.

The nonsense about higher than gta is a little misleading. Ones a preorder ones a new release. (Most that were going to preorder would have done it weeks ago)

@themightyant I said it previously but I think GP will change in January after the 75+ day 1 commitment has ended (perhaps tied up with the rumour about looking at 3rd party payments etc)

@themightyant it’s ok saying it props up other departments etc. but if we are all being honest and realistic it’s because the numbers are being obscured everywhere.

The studio that makes Doom eats up all the costs, the sales do fewer numbers. And it’s day 1 on GPU that factors in none of the costs of development or advertising.

Now that’s not saying it doesn’t prop it up, but if you had to almost double the price to do so, then there’s a lot of issues being masked.

I think you should consider removing turn 10 as a standalone studio too. Considering it got gutted and is just support for FH.

Like I said elsewhere, I think some of the studios being gutted will end up becoming support studios like turn 10 became.

I’m not convinced that all these studios will shut/go but I do think there will be large cuts to a big variety of studios (turn 10 style) where some end up becoming support studios.

We all know they won’t keep a disc drive.

But right now they can get some free and easy PR by talking about their back compatibility etc. really promote it for next gen - as it’s miles better than Sonys.

@ToxicRageDude problem is it takes options away from consumers. Often a new physical release can be found cheaper.

Too many rumours all pointing in the same direction for everyone to be wrong (too many reliable insiders too). Some I don’t believe.

But I think a lot of studios are going to be hit even if not fully closed. Labour costs are far too easy to cut and give an immediate change to costs.
