Bethesda Announces Multiple Games Including Two Fallout Remasters

Out of nowhere, Bethesda Game Studios has suddenly revealed a roadmap of its plans for the next few years ahead, including multiple Fallout games, continued work on The Elder Scrolls VI, and an intent to keep supporting Starfield.

The biggest news here concerns Fallout, with Fallout 3 Remastered and Fallout: New Vegas Remastered both officially confirmed. Dates for both of these games will be revealed at some point in the future.

"While we're not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas."

Meanwhile, Obsidian's rumoured Fallout game is also now official, with Bethesda simply stating that it's a "new Fallout project" without sharing any other details, while Fallout 5 is officially in pre-production. Fallout 76 continues to remain a big focus as well, with a a prequel story to Fallout 3 planned as an expansion for that game for next year.

"Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today. Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now."

Both Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI are being built on Creation Engine 3, described as a tech platform that "allows our teams to support multiple projects simultaneously with new tools, rendering, and systems that define our games".

The Elder Scrolls VI is Bethesda Game Studios' "primary development focus" as things stand, and the team (most of which are working on it) are apparently "loving how it looks, and playing it every day".

"The Elder Scrolls VI is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise. With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it’s been a very long wait for the sequel. The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day."

The Elder Scrolls Online developer ZeniMax Online Studios will apparently "partner closely" with Bethesda Game Studios on all-things Elder Scrolls going forward, but will also continue to "deliver incredible new experiences" for ESO.

And finally, Starfield is not finished! The plan is for lots of new content throughout Year 3:

"As we enter Year 3, we'll continue expanding the Settled Systems with new stories, targeted gameplay improvements, and additional updates, while preparing for the launch of new Starborn content next year. More than 40% of players already customize their experience through Creations, and we'll continue investing in creators and giving players new ways to make Starfield their own."

Before we wrap up, it's important to note that this is a message from Bethesda Game Studios, and therefore it doesn't concern what the likes of id Software and MachineGames are doing under the wider Bethesda / ZeniMax umbrella.

Still, this is a lot to get excited for! We're very pleased that the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters have finally been confirmed, and it's nice to see they're not abandoning Starfield considering it's had over 17 million players to date.

"Across Bethesda Game Studios, we're building for the future of Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. We're investing in our technology, bringing teams closer together, supporting our live games, expanding into new forms of entertainment, and developing the next generation of Bethesda RPGs."
