Rumour: Halo Being 'Heavily Evaluated' At Xbox, But Remains Key Part Of Future Plans

There's obviously a lot of talk about potential layoffs and studio closures at Xbox right now, but one franchise that definitely won't be going anywhere is Halo - or at least, that's what the belief appears to be at the moment.

Windows Central's Jez Corden was asked about this on social media today, and revealed that according to what he's heard, "Xbox is very, very, very heavily evaluating how Halo is run", but the franchise remains key to future plans.

If we go back to early June, one of the five "realities" that was outlined by Xbox leadership hinted at an "over extended" set of first-party studios, but they also suggested at the time that their "industry-defining franchises" required more funding in order to reach their potential.

"We are the fortunate stewards of industry-defining franchises that have enormous potential and player demand, but we have not adequately funded them to compete and win."

It seems pretty clear that Halo falls into that category for Asha Sharma and her team, and it'll be interesting to see how they approach the IP over the coming years. Whatever happens, Halo looks set to play a big role in Xbox's new strategy.
