Times is hard for us console lot, as the cost of, well, pretty much everything skyrockets. It's proper grim.

If you're in the market for a new piece of Xbox hardware, you may be in for a wee shock as Microsoft's latest price hikes officially kicked off August 1st, 2026. We thought it was a good idea to break down the new console prices across multiple regions - five to be exact.

Firstly, let us remind ourselves of where the prices were at last year, before the component crisis took hold and made it all a bit scary:

Old Prices (From May 1st, 2025)

Xbox Hardware UK US EU CAN AU
Xbox Series S (512GB) £299.99 $399.99 €349.99 $449.99 $549.00
Xbox Series S (1TB) £349.99 $449.99 €399.99 $529.99 $599.00
Xbox Series X (1TB, Digital) £449.99 $599.99 €549.99 $679.99 $749.00
Xbox Series X (1TB, Disc) £499.99 $649.99 €599.99 $729.99 $849.00

And now, let's have a look at the new updated prices for following August 2026's price increase:

New Prices (As Of August 1st, 2026)

Xbox Hardware UK US EU CAN AU
Xbox Series S (512GB) £429.99 $499.99 €499.99 $649.99 $699.00
Xbox Series S (1TB) £519.99 $599.99 €599.99 $749.99 $849.00
Xbox Series X (1TB, Digital) £619.99 $749.99 €749.99 $949.99 $999.00
Xbox Series X (1TB, Disc) £669.99 $799.99 €799.99 $999.99 $1,099.00

As you can see, the price jump is enormous. Most notably, the Xbox Series S - once Microsoft's most affordable console - is now almost entirely unaffordable. In the UK, the 512GB model has been bumped up from £299.99 to £429.99, moving it past the ROG Xbox Ally (we found one of the Allys earlier today going for £379.99!).

For what it's worth, Xbox isn't the only console manufacturer upping their price tags. Sony went through something similar back in April, with PlayStation hardware seeing comparable price hikes. Nintendo is also expected to implement its own increases from September 1st. At this point, all you can really do is laugh through the pain and hope things settle down.
