Update []: Beast of Reincarnation is now out in the wild, which means the review embargo has fully lifted and we've got more review scores to share with you.

Currently, Game Freak's newest title is rocking an average score of 73 on Metacritic - not spectacular, but pretty good going.

Here's what our sister site, Push Square had to say about Beast of Reincarnation:

Push Square (7/10)

"Beast of Reincarnation is an interesting action RPG that ties together various elements to present something quite unique. While the narrative isn't particularly enthralling and it suffers from some visual and technical issues, the combat is a highlight, focusing on parries and a mix of melee and pseudo-turn-based commands that feels fun to balance. It wears its influences on its sleeve, but there are just enough fresh ideas that mean it stands apart."

Original Story: Arguably the most intriguing Xbox release of August is Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation. Whilst we've still got one more sleep before its August 4th launch, the game's first review has officially dropped.

The first word comes from the Japanese outlet Famitsu, which has given the game a 35/40 rating. We haven't found a proper transcript of the review itself, but the score has been racking up some views on social media.

Here's a version of the review posted by Genki on X/Twitter:

For anyone wondering how Famitsu arrived at a total score of 35, that's because they have four reviewers each score the game individually and tally them up - resulting in the 8/10, 9/10, 9/10 and 9/10.

If you're keen to give Beast of Reincarnation a try for yourself, don't forget it's available August 4th for Xbox Game Pass members on Ultimate and PC tiers. Pre-orders are also available on the Xbox Store for £49.99 / $59.99, and the game is an Xbox Play Anywhere title too.

Game Freak's brand-new title: Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, humanity's only hope lies with Emma, an outcast shunned from society for her affliction, and Koo, the blighted dog. Together, they embark on this expansive adventure in this one-person, one-dog action RPG.
