I’ve got till December on ultimate then I’ll be downgrading to whatever the £11 tier is. (Depending on what games are on there).

People are cancelling and downgrading - the page to do so yesterday was down and people were having trouble getting through.

Should point out here 28 of those listed are PC only.

So that tempers the value on console.

If it’s going to $30 I think that first party games should then include any DLC

@ButterySmooth30FPS I believed it was around 6million. With the majority being Steamdeck.

I believe the Xbox branding will help push this above things like the legion go/ other Asus products.

If MS had wanted to. They could have subsidised it. They have the money to do it etc

@BAMozzy but the data is showing that even across more games gamers are spending less hours playing on an Xbox than gamers playing on other platforms. - and however you try to defend it and talk nonsense.

The information (if true and correct) can also show to developers that people are less likely to spend time in their game and potentially micro transactions if it’s included on any sub service.

I love my series S worked perfectly fine. No regrets at all in buying one. I paid £180 for it new.

But sorry it’s value has tailed off in 25, the price rises to £300 (albeit with bigger storage) have made it a tougher sell.

They know the numbers of what sells and where.

Should add that is expensive for top model. If you are an Xbox only user you can get any combo of - steam deck/s2/ps5 for same price.

He’s totally right with the last part, and it’s certainly something Xbox has been guilty of in the past.

They always used to announce games far too early. (Even recently look at blade)

Regarding the 7-10yr cycle - do you keep throwing good money after bad potentially? Or with it going straight to a sub service is it better to have more releases for it?

If it’s only $0.6b in the US for every sub then I’m now doubting the $500m per month claim of GP that people use.

US is by far the biggest Xbox market. So even if it was 50% of that total Gamepass (it’s certainly not that by any stretch) they would still need to be finding $200m from rest of the world so seems a stretch.

Consoles sales are terrible for the biggest market too - but software is doing good.

(Again I think as a product GP is ‘profitable’ but MS are very good at hiding costs elsewhere - as any business should)

@themightyant CoD on GP at the cost of more expensive console/accessories, GP went up, game prices went up. Xbox only players haven’t had the best reward for it!

Gamepass is a tricky one.

It’s good for consumers currently.

Is it always good for devs? Probably not always. - especially as an indie if you don’t get on GP.

GP is ‘profitable’ in the sense that Microsoft shows. Because it certainly doesn’t include costs such as advertising the big games, the development costs will come out of different budgets etc.

So yes Gamepass as a product in itself is highly likely to be profitable, but take in other areas of Xbox overall and it probably isn’t (or very low profit).

If it was super profitable and growing then games wouldn’t be releasing elsewhere, charge for day 1 etc.

@SeaDaVie revenue will be up because everything costs more. So you can sell less and still make more.

Xbox recently had record revenue too. But they still laid off staff, and increased prices of everything bar GP

Id love to know what these unrealistic targets actually are.

During ABK they wanted 100m GP subscribers by 2030 and that’s looking unlikely.

But one insider saying it’s unrealistic and one saying it’s reality, surely then shows the targets are there? Just one thinking it’s unrealistic to get it and one saying it’s real?
