There's obviously a lot of speculation about whether Xbox Project Helix will end up including a disc drive when it ships, and there's suddenly been a lot of discussion on social media about a "rumour" that claims it will.
We've seen the likes of Gaming Central, Coinvo and many, many individual Xbox fans posting about this, and it all tracks back to a tweet from G.O.A.T. GAMING that's racked up 1 million views in less than 24 hours.
Based on their track record though, we feel pretty comfortable calling it a fake rumour. We've been following the GOAT account over the years and it's clearly intended to be a humourous parody rather than anything serious, making other outrageous claims such as Geoff Keighley "punching a wall" because Xbox announced Project Helix in the first place!
What it does indicate, however, is that there's clearly a lot of interest and apparent demand in a disc drive for Project Helix. One million views in less than 24 hours is nothing to sneeze at, and we hope Xbox is at least tracking the response as part of their apparent "evaluation" of how to incorporate discs (if at all) in the next Xbox console.
Could a fake tweet actually be the thing that leads to a disc drive in Helix? If so, thank you GOAT Gaming!
