Ridiculous increase by Sony. They sell enough to absorb at least part of that - especially as they were reported to be making a profit on each console a while back.
But honestly I expected helix to be £999 now I’m thinking it may be £1200.
@Weebleman I’ve said this myself for a long time. It’s obvious Sony wouldn’t let a full GP on with 3rd party, because that would reduce sales, but GP for 1st party makes sense. For both companies really.
The problem it always had outside the obvious is that streaming just isn’t there yet and won’t be for many for a long time. So XYZ might be an Xbox, but it won’t actually play anything like an Xbox.
Some strong games were released and more notable for me was majority shipped in a strong state say 1, where often they would lack a little QA and final polish. Seems this is being rectified.
@Banjo- you have literally tagged and copied my post in this thread. When I never once mentioned your name. Nor your comments. With your thinly veiled insults. But that’s fine that you believe otherwise and haven’t done that.
@FuzzieGinge88 had the focused on advertising their series consoles, not raising the prices to the extent they did, had consoles available in stores and countries -they highly likely wouldn’t have needed a ‘this is an Xbox campaign’
@Fiendish-Beaver I live in an apartment so unfortunately I have little control over that. But I still pay nowhere near what you are. That’s just ridiculous money.
Call them up and get on the cancellation team. You will get that down to close to £100
The price takes casuals and families out of the market.
PC gamers most likely have a better set up (or in 18months time they will do when this releases)
Who is it actually going to be marketed at? Series consoles don’t sell at £3-600.
If you have a PC you already have access to everything, series owners? They can just keep those and stream. How much is GP going to be by then.
Now I’m not saying the console will be bad or anything, I think it will be very good. Just don’t understand the market in a time when everyone is squeezed for money and mad Ram prices (obviously Sony has these issues too)
@UnlimitedSevens problem is there a $1500 pcbox isn’t going to be a patch on many PC’s out there. GPU are this price.
Currently around half the Xbox install base (it’s somewhere around 40-50% iirc) owns the series S. That was what £250 on release? Since price rises console sales have tanked.
So what market is the new box for? Because it’s certainly not looking like a big market right now.
Good news. Be interesting to see what level of pc it stacks up to.
But the big thing is obviously the price. - obviously they have come out and said it will be a premium console, so that’s usually meaning a higher price point.
But as it’s reported to be a PC, it’s not going to sell. Ram prices are going to cripple it (as it is doing with Steam currently and no doubt Sony eventually)
Casuals won’t spend it, PC players have a better system. So I really would imagine that there will be more push for the cloud to stream to tvs etc

Re: Talking Point: Xbox GPU Members, What Do You Think Of 'Ubisoft+ Classics' So Far?
Id played most via ps sub, so it wasn’t great for me and I don’t play Fortnite so it all factored into me dropping to premium
Re: Sony Announces Major PS5 Price Hikes, Here's How They Compare To Xbox Series X|S
@IOI funnily enough everything I’ve seen is slating Sony, exactly like ms got at the time and what both deserved. Neither are our friends!
Re: Sony Announces Major PS5 Price Hikes, Here's How They Compare To Xbox Series X|S
Ridiculous increase by Sony. They sell enough to absorb at least part of that - especially as they were reported to be making a profit on each console a while back.
But honestly I expected helix to be £999 now I’m thinking it may be £1200.
Gaming is fast becoming unaffordable for many.
Re: Xbox Fan Claims To Have Spotted New Game Pass Codename Featuring Older First-Party Titles
@Weebleman I’ve said this myself for a long time. It’s obvious Sony wouldn’t let a full GP on with 3rd party, because that would reduce sales, but GP for 1st party makes sense. For both companies really.

Re: New Xbox Boss Has Considered 'Pricing Revamp' For Game Pass, Claims Report
All they needed to do 6 months or so ago was increase GPU to £18 with no extras.
It would have been received much better.
Re: Xbox Series X Gets Major 'Just For You' Discount On The Microsoft Store
So USA only? And for a small handful of people? But everyone raving.
But screw everyone else who isn’t offered this deal right! Everyone should have access to the same deal.
Re: Talking Point: 20 Years Later, How Do You Feel About The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion In 2026?
Oblivion was really good. 20 years has gone fast! (And only one other proper elder scrolls in 20years is also sad)
It’s a shame the remastered version was poor. Deserved better.
Re: Crimson Desert Comparison Shows Difference Between Xbox Series X And Series S
Alot of people slating it. It’s weird how gamers latch onto a game and openly wish for it to fail.
It’s coming in around 80, it’s decently priced at £50 or so. And doesn’t actually seem to be a huge mess. Just sounds like it needs a few updates.
Re: Xbox's Starfield Is Already One Of The Top Three Pre-Orders On PS5
@Banjo- you have literally tagged and copied my post in this thread. When I never once mentioned your name. Nor your comments. With your thinly veiled insults. But that’s fine that you believe otherwise and haven’t done that.
I still don’t believe an Xbox tax is real.
Re: Xbox's Starfield Is Already One Of The Top Three Pre-Orders On PS5
@Banjo- just the same as you trying to throw thinly veiled insults. But genuinely I try to ignore you. Because that’s easier
Re: Xbox's Starfield Is Already One Of The Top Three Pre-Orders On PS5
@shiny-enzo so what tax is it when a game scores higher on Xbox? Because games do indeed score higher on Xbox.
So how does that work on the tax scale?
Re: Xbox's Starfield Is Already One Of The Top Three Pre-Orders On PS5
@Banjo- I guarantee I’m not on every thread. Yet another person talking nonsense. Funny that.
If people actually checked the releases you would see that some score higher on Xbox, some score less and some even score the same.
That in itself shows there’s no bias. But I can happily cherry pick games where it scored higher on Xbox if you prefer?

Re: These 12 Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (March 17 - April 7)
Gonna keep saying it, but premium is the better option currently.
Not one single ‘ultimate’ only game on console.

@Gemini53 https://www.purexbox.com/news/2025/07/forza-motorsport-team-reportedly-loses-nearly-50percent-of-staff-in-xbox-job-cuts
If they do return to it, it’s going to be a long time off. - but the track racers are also more niche.
Re: Forza Horizon 6 Dev Wants A 'Rich' Tokyo, Japan As Team Admits FH5 Map Didn't Resonate
@Gemini53 yes it’s shelved. The team
Got pretty much destroyed in the job cuts last year.
Re: Microsoft's 'This Is An Xbox' Post Taken Down As Fans Wonder If The Controversial Ad Is No More
@TheGameThrifter luckily he would call it our product and not a Big Mac!

Re: Tech Journalist Predicts A Price Of 'At Least $1,000' For Xbox Project Helix
I can’t see it being less than £999/$1200. They’ve already said it’s premium
Ps6 will come in £800ish
Re: Microsoft CEO On Xbox's Future: 'We'll Always Invest In Gaming'
I think most people expect MS to continue in the software side. That’s never been questioned really.
It’s still going to have questions around the next console.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Happy With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate In 2026?
@Fiendish-Beaver I live in an apartment so unfortunately I have little control over that. But I still pay nowhere near what you are. That’s just ridiculous money.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Happy With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate In 2026?
@Gloki_junior then you need to speak to sky. You are overpaying.
Sky sports and tv is £35 (Netflix included) If you upgrade to sky ultimate for a couple of quid they throw in Disney+ and the new hbo one.
I pay £40 or so and get sky ultimate, sports Netflix, Disney, hbo and some other streaming service that’s coming.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Happy With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate In 2026?
I’ve said it before this year, but currently premium is the better tier so far.
Will this change once stuff like Forza drops? And bigger day 1 games drop? Most probably.
Re: Talking Point: Will 'Project Helix' Be A Niche Device, Or An Xbox Console For The Masses?
@Millionski I agree, I imagine the box itself will be good. But who is it catering for?
Obviously there’s more chance of us that frequent these sites but outside of that?
Re: Talking Point: Will 'Project Helix' Be A Niche Device, Or An Xbox Console For The Masses?
@Millionski steamdeck was at 6million sales last year. With estimates that it’s around 8million now. Due to ram issues it’s out of stock.
By all accounts the Rog sold well first month then basically stopped since.
Re: Talking Point: Will 'Project Helix' Be A Niche Device, Or An Xbox Console For The Masses?
@BacklogBrad those PC players already have access to all those games.
Unless there’s some massive incentive to switch, why would they?
Re: Talking Point: Will 'Project Helix' Be A Niche Device, Or An Xbox Console For The Masses?
It’s going to be niche. No ifs no buts.
The price takes casuals and families out of the market.

@fatpunkslim I admire your optimism but as usual you are blinkered.
Re: Next Xbox Console: Everything We Know So Far About Microsoft's Next-Gen System
@fatpunkslim seeing as you are so informed.
Do you know said price to know if it’s comparable to a pc, or is this just pure speculation with nothing to back it up?
Considering they aren’t even subsiding their current console and all…

But let’s see what they come up with
Re: 'It Will Lead In Performance' - Xbox's Price Tag For Project Helix Could Be Pretty High
This is £999+ is my feeling.
If the pro released at what was it £750? (I forget) a prebuilt gaming pc is going to be £1000+
I really hope I’m wrong.
Gone from the most affordable gaming to the most expensive experience?!
Re: Xbox Announces New 'Project Helix' Console, Says It Will Play PC Games
@Gemini53 I second days gone. Really wish Sony had greenlit a sequel.
My only criticism of the first one is that it was probably 4-6hours too long. End area dragged a little at times.
Re: Xbox Announces New 'Project Helix' Console, Says It Will Play PC Games
Good news. Be interesting to see what level of pc it stacks up to.
But the big thing is obviously the price. - obviously they have come out and said it will be a premium console, so that’s usually meaning a higher price point.

Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@Coletrain either way. It’s still only 2% of the revenue. Any different way of reporting it doesn’t make that number bigger.
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@Gemini53 little correction -
Positive Xbox news = true and amazing
Negative Xbox news = false and Xbox tax and XYZ doesn’t like Xbox etc
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@abe_hikura they aren’t including live service as far as is reported.

Yet more proof sales aren’t amazing for Sony on steam.
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@Gemini53 it’s the little box that can (majority of the time!)
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@Questionable_Duck take away the costs of porting it to pc and its even less in profit.
They have the numbers. If the numbers work they will carry on
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@fatpunkslim
Literally 1.96% of revenue.
https://www.tweaktown.com/news/110045/sony-has-made-at-least-dollars2-3-billion-selling-first-party-games-on-pc-and-xbox/index.html?iabc=1
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@fatpunkslim except the 2% isn’t pulled out of nowhere.
It’s available numbers that are out there.
It is consistently you who makes statements without any back up.
Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC
@fatpunkslim sales on PC make up around 2% of Sony sales.
It’s a small number.
Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass, Including Three Big Additions (March 4-17)
Honestly premium is where it’s at again this month.
Personally nothing for me as own both F1 and CP77
Re: Xbox Is Teasing Something 'Very Cool' For Game Pass This Month, Possibly Cyberpunk 2077
@Millionski there’s been more than 1 but they have mainly been indie type.
Honestly this year it’s all about premium so far. It’s had the good releases.
Re: Xbox Is Teasing Something 'Very Cool' For Game Pass This Month, Possibly Cyberpunk 2077
It’s what 5-6years old now? Is it that massive a grab these days?
KCD2 is a bigger more recent one in my eyes
Re: Opinion: Xbox Should Consider Cancelling Halo: Campaign Evolved For PS5
They have to sell on ps5/S2.
It’s the only way to get sales and try to get to those margins MS want.
It’s where we are at now. They’ve seen the numbers that make it worthwhile (otherwise it wouldn’t keep happening)
Most going forward will be day 1. It’s currently just haphazard as it’s been brought in mid development for many games (Forza for instance)
Re: Analyst Provides Interesting Data On How Well January's Big Game Pass Additions Performed
Surprisingly low for Star Wars.
It sold poor and then you are talking 2%-5% uptake on GP.
Re: Xbox Won't Back Away From First-Party And Become 'Just A Publisher', Insists EVP Matt Booty
@Gemini53 hardware most likely will come.
But as it’s reported to be a PC, it’s not going to sell. Ram prices are going to cripple it (as it is doing with Steam currently and no doubt Sony eventually)
