Re: WWE 2K22 Could Be Final 2K Entry, EA Reportedly In Talks To Take Over

@GuyinPA75 It's Yukes funnily enough. The dev that made the games from Smackdown on PS1 through to the 2K games until they were dumped after 19 or 20. I don't think that would get in the way as to my knowledge they've just been contracted to develop the game for AEW. There's no publisher attached. It seems as though they wanted to get the ball rolling and didn't want to go the traditional route of finding a publisher to license their game. I'm not sure if it was simply to reduce the time it took to get a game out on consoles and expose their brand or if they also wanted more control than they might have with a traditional licensing deal or even are keen to self publish.

@JetmanUK Yeah, I don't see why they can't continue with their Yukes game and have that be a N64 AKI throwback and maybe be a bit cheaper and digital only and have 2K essentially re-skin their WWE game to be AEW and have that be their main AAA title with all the production values that entails. It could even benefit the Yukes game too as they might be able to share assets which takes a load off them.

If 2k are interested I think AEW would be fools not to strongly consider it. People want a good AEW game. There's no guarantee this Yukes game will deliver on any level and I have a suspicion that even if it's a solid game it won't meet a lot of fans expectations. I feel they have a much better shot at meeting expectations with 2k. They're not perfect but by the sounds of it they hit a decent level of quality with this latest game and an AEW version of that is bound to satisfy a larger demographic than I think the Yukes game will.

Sounds like they might hit the mark next year. I guess going by a lot of the recent games these are pretty good scores though.

I'm not overly keen to pick this one up simply because I don't watch the current WWE product and they got rid of so many of the people on the roster that interest me there'd only be a handful of wrestlers I give af about. Will have to look at a full roster list and see.

@Blessed_Koz Oh, that sucks. I read a couple of the fan reviews that say scouting in franchise is broken as well. There was a similar issue in one of the recentish NHL games that was never fixed.

Idk why these sports games are so bad these days. You'd think the fact that they're rehashing the same game time after time would lead to better quality and polish overall. Apparently if it's not a part of the game that sells digital cards it just doesn't get any attention.

@isturbo1984 I'm usually a bit soft when it comes to hard games but I thought it was fine personally. It had its hard moments but nothing too bad and you were always back in the action pretty quick with the check points.

I think most "hard" games mostly come down to trial and error so really it's just a matter of if you find the gameplay loop compelling enough to go through the trials and learn from your errors. I found Cyber Shadow plenty compelling and pushed through. I really enjoyed that feeling of breezing through sections that used to be an ordeal after you had learned the level and gotten an upgrade or three. I also thought it felt much more like an idealised version of a NES game and did well at picking and choosing what modern qol features to add so it wasn't frustratingly old school. One of the better throwback games I've played.

Another half baked at launch fps that drip feeds a dozen DLC's over a few years that at some point feels like a full game but then you realise it actual cost way more and oh, they've also taken some of the content you paid for away?

Or do you think even they don't have the gall to do that 3 times in a row?
