I think it’s a good way to have the game supported long term. Halo is so old school I’m not surprised to hear this complaint, but battle passes are in every shooter now. As long as it continues to be cosmetic only I don’t care. Side note, I played the first beta and was kind of disappointed, but once I hopped in to the full mp and played big team battle I remember why I loved this game so much back in the day.
I was just thinking about this game two days ago. I thought it was excellent, in my opinion Rockstar’s best shooter. Even if it did steal it’s story from “Man on Fire”.
I was playing on an LG Oled with a series x and I turned the brightness all the was up and Carl and Co.’s faces were still hard to see. I went back to playing Forza Horizon 5 while they fix this.
Gears of War was the first 360 game that blew my mind. I remember in the third level I believe where it was raining and nighttime I stood there and watched the water run over a rock in amazement at the detail. Cheers Gears!
@FriendlyOctopus PS and Nintendo exclusives were mentioned in the article. They are throwing all the exciting upcoming games from all platforms on this poll.
There are a lot of great games slated for next year, but Starfield is an easy choice for most anticipated. Also, you have to anticipate at least 25% of these being delayed to 2023. Every year we have release dates pushed to the following year for extra polish or maybe they don’t want to release against this blockbuster or that.
Black ops II was my favorite until the relaunch of Modern Warfare. The customization options on the guns and the current day setting were great. All those jump around years with special abilities were garbage. I played them because they were COD but those were tough years for me to stomach.
Right now there is an arms race to buy all the big 3rd party studios so I don’t really fault them for want to grow the Xbox family of studios. Xbox live sucks to pay for but with it included in gamepass ultimate I’m not complaining. Also, when you have free online play people have no repercussions for acting like jerks- ban their account and they just make another free one.
@Michu2951 I am finding myself having trouble playing fps in 60 fps after being spoiled with 120. 30 sounds like a no go but I’ll have to see what it looks like.
I was really anticipating Back 4 Blood until my new love He’ll Let Loose came along right before it’s release and derailed me. I did make some time to play B4B a little this morning and have to say I love it. I would love to have the custom console and controller, but I feel like that would be gluttony since I already have a Series X and so many people can’t get ahold of one for retail price still.
I love the uncharted and last of us games but they wouldn’t be a dealbreaker if I went MS only. My favorite Xbox exclusives are Horizon and Gears. Nintendo has Zelda and Mario. Then the third party games fill in the gaps. If I had to choose just one console I would be content with the Xbox, thankfully we don’t have to choose.
@NEStalgia you couldn’t be further off my friend. It’s a Korean show about a bunch of financially strapped people playing a very dangerous game for a chance at money. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Be warned though NSFW.
I’m digging the release of these tactical shooters. I exhausted the 10 hour demo for hell let loose and loved it. If this is free I’ll try it for sure, I used to play ghost recon on the 360.
Wow! I downloaded the free trial and I am half way through my 10 hours already. This is my new favorite shooter, I have been hoping for a tactical shooter for forever and the large teams/maps are icing on the cake. I just hope the player base is there to support it. Fantastic!!! Everyone go try it!
Wow….. that looks nuts! It kind of reminds me of Persona 4 in that it starts out with what seems like a normal game and then takes a sharp turn into the very strange.
Stranded Deep sucked me in like no game has done in a long time. So much so that when I found out the pc version was more fleshed out I bought a second copy to play on steam. I have been away from it for a long time now, I wonder if the other console features caught up. Regardless, I will go see how my clifftop compound is doing once this update goes live.
I am looking forward to playing the campaign. I’ve been playing the preview and I believe it performs well and looks nice technically speaking. However, I have lost my taste for the Halo multiplayer. I used to play it all the time back in the day, but I am not a huge fan of what it is now. Maybe when they introduce big team battle next week. I always enjoyed the vehicles… I was originally planning on skipping COD this year for the first time since the MW3 fiasco, but I’m not sure anymore. I’ve been playing on a series x btw- I have a one s as well but didn’t download the client on that.
@stinkyx we can definitely agree on the spawn issues. During the vanguard beta I spawned directly behind enemies at least 6 times, I am sure the same happened to me. I am glad Halo is something different though in the fps space. Also my nephews have me playing splitgate which is a nice change of pace. I’ve always enjoyed the portal games, never would have dreamed of marrying them with competitive online multiplayer. Not normally a fan of the free to play model, but it’s not detrimental to the experience there.
@stinkyx the modern online shooters are more about learning the map layout than anything. After pumping a lot of time into most of them I’ve found an experienced player can do just fine with a base weapon and no attachments. That’s simply not true with Halo. I do see the casual appeal to halo because everyone starts with the same load out- my nephew loathes unlocking weapons in COD, but I prefer the game that rewards the person who gets the drop on the other player, not the one with the better weapon.
I started playing the technical preview for halo and remembered why that game frustrates me. It feels more like a scavenger hunt to find a decent weapon than a shooter. The starting AR you can unload a full clip to get one kill, while some of the found weapons can one shot you. I did well in the matches but this just seems outdated and silly. Ive played all the Halo games and look forward to the single player component of infinite. But for now I went back to finish RDR2 and playing COD.
Can confirm I’ve been playing on the Series X and there have been several times where the screen turned orangish and pixelated. Especially when using glide bombs. Also, last night for about an hour I stopped gaining xp for both my level and the weapons I was using.
@The_New_Butler you are probably right. Also, Valve’s unorthodox corporate culture is very different from MIcrosoft. I just can’t think of anyone else they could buy that would create a potential monopoly. Unless it’s Sony or Nintendo and they are also very healthy financially.
I’ve always believed if I find something I love doing I want to share that with others. I’ve introduced my daughter and my nieces and nephews to gaming the way my father introduced me. We all enjoy this hobby together now which is way better than alone.
It was tough to pick the one I’m MOST excited for, but going with my instinct I picked Halo. After the Diablo II beta that is up there and of course Forza.
Yeah, I was super excited to try this, now I’m uninstalling it. Why a surgery game has you wondering around picking up key cards is beyond me. Also all the valid complaints listed above. Glad I didn’t pay for it.
I like it. I have always felt saints row was what GTA would have been had it not gotten all full of itself. It’s like a natural progression from Vice City.
I recently picked up the original crisis remastered on switch and was pretty impressed by the port. I don’t know that I want it on my series x though since I already have more than enough FPS over there to play.
I spent many vacations in the 80s visiting family in Florida. Vice city hit so many nostalgia buttons. Also, the story line that incorporates every 80s mafia movie and the cast of legendary actors was perfect. VC is the best GTA to date in my opinion.

Re: Pick One: Which Of These Horror Franchises Is Your Favourite?
That is a tough question. Resident evil is my favorite series here but I don’t think of it as horror game as much as I do Outlast or Silent Hill.
