Just over a year ago now, Fable's legendary creator Peter Molyneux announced his next game in the form of Masters of Albion - and in an extensive interview with Edge Magazine (via VGC), the former Xbox dev was visibly emotional when talking about how his "last game" is a "redemption title".

Speaking about past promises when hyping up the likes of Fable, Dungeon Keeper and Black & White, Molyneux admitted that he "overpromised" in the past, and that he hopes Masters of Albion can be a sort of "redemption" for all of that.

"I admit now that I did overpromise on things, and said things that I shouldn’t have said [...] But I only ever did that because I thought it was the right thing to do at the time. And so Masters Of Albion is a redemption title for me. But also, it’s my last game. It just is.

I’m 66 years old. I’m working as hard as I’ve ever worked in my life. And I just haven’t got the life energy left to do this again. Everything that I’ve done… it just feels like this is the bet, you know? I’ve put all my chips on the table."

Molyneux reportedly starting tearing up when talking about how important his final game will be to him:

"And I don’t know if it’s going to work. It’s so important to me, this game, because to a certain extent it’s about redemption."

At the time of writing, Masters of Albion is being planned for release on PC and console, although the small dev team is plotting a PC early access release to start off with. That early access period was supposedly coming this year - but with November almost here, it's looking like a delay may be on the cards. We're intrigued to see it when it finally arrives though, and we'll have our eyes locked onto that eventual Xbox release somewhere down the line.
