Helldivers 2 Dev Is Working On A 'New Co-Op Action Game', And It'll Likely Launch On Xbox

Helldivers 2 finally came to Xbox a few months ago, and the PlayStation-published shooter seemingly did very well on Xbox around release. We saw huge player number spikes, big sales figures and substantial revenue boosts come from the port - and now the team behind Sony's hit co-op game is well into developing its next, likely multiplatform title.

As shared by Insider Gaming, Arrowhead Studios has posted a new job listing for its next big project. The game hasn't been revealed just yet, but the team is looking for a senior system designer to "help shape the foundation of a brand-new, unannounced project".

Here's the overview of that job listing:

"Join our quest in making the world's best co-op action games! We’re looking for a talented Senior Systems Designer to join our growing design department and help shape the foundation of a brand-new, unannounced project. This is your chance to be part of an co-op action game from the start. You’ll be at the heart of building and tuning the core systems, progression loops, and combat feel like an Arrowhead Game."

It's not just the apparent success of Helldivers 2 on Xbox that's making us more interested in this next project, either. Way before Arrowhead's Xbox port was even announced, the team came out and said its next game "is 100% funded by ourselves" and that they are in control of where it launches. With Helldivers 2 now on the the Microsoft platform and seemingly doing well, we can't see why this next game won't make it over here either.

Of course, publishing deals can happen and we're not naïve - plans change quick in gaming and we're not counting our chickens just yet. Still, for now it's looking pretty likely that this "brand-new co-op action game" will indeed come to Xbox when Arrowhead is ready to launch; the team certainly sounds bullish on being in full control next time around.

Will you be playing this if and when it comes to Xbox? Talk to us about Arrowhead's next game down below.
