Re: Pick One: Which Of These Xbox Classics Would You Remaster? (#4)

Heavyarms55

Since KOTOR 2, the superior of that series, is not an option, I vote for KOTOR. If KOTOR 2 got a remaster, with the restored content that was cut from the final product returned and properly finished, people might understand why I prefer it.

I suspect people who have played the restored content mod - in which fans finished most of the game (aside from voice work and one unfinished planet that was just too unfinished) would agree with me.

Even if not, I prefer the story of the Exile to that of Revan.

Re: Phil Spencer Discusses How Xbox Series X Can Beat PS5

Heavyarms55

For a long time now Microsoft's offering has been heavily reliant on 3rd party titles with a small portion of 1st party content/exclusive content. If they really want to compete, I'd say that's one are they need to improve.

That said, between PS5 and XboxX, right now I'm leaning XboxX. Because of the backward compatibility.

Re: Rumour: A Remastered Version Of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Is Also On The Way

Heavyarms55

COD has been pumping one yearly games for so long now that I'm kinda shocked it took them so long to finally start doing this.

I wish they'd take the time to make a COD game on Switch. Now a port but just one, good, built for the system COD title. Even if just as a hook to try and pull back old fans who burnt out years ago but might be inclined to give it another spin.

I know they did one on Wii U and it kinda flopped but I think that was more the Wii U's fault than anything else.

A good COD on a portable system would be pretty sweet.

I need to get around the playing the COD4 remaster.

Re: The Xbox Series X Has Four Tiny Rubber Feet For Horizontal Orientation

Heavyarms55

Oh yeah, I'm so eager to display my super cool looking dull black box.

Seriously, does anyone actually like the design? It's a non issue, I don't really care what my gaming machine looks like. But I miss the days when companies released things other than black or white boxes...

Even Nintendo is mostly down to black now... Yeah there are special editions, that usually cost significantly more...

Re: Xbox Series X And PS5 Power Difference 'Quite Staggering', Hints Ex-Sony Designer

Heavyarms55

Specs this power that, what features are the two consoles offering? If the only thing I cared about were the best specs to play the highest quality games - I'd build a gaming PC.

Right now I'm leaning toward Xbox because it has the backwards compatibility for an enormous library of games right out the gate. But neither PS5 nor XboxX have shown any real new features that look interesting.

You can spout all the buzz words and numbers you like, that just doesn't impress me. Show me games that really make use of those things. Show me new features that previous consoles could not do.

Re: Video: Microsoft Demos Xbox Concept Controller For Mobile Devices

Heavyarms55

Mobile gaming is just inferior. I'm sorry but it is. Streaming is never going to work as well as having the device in the same room. You can't beat the laws of physics. There are people who can notice the input delay from older wireless controllers. Now take that and run that signal through a dozen repeaters a few hundred or thousand miles away to a server hub and enjoy lag fiesta!

And F2P touch screen only mobile gaming, riddled with paywalls or "energy limits" to push you into spending money and gatcha mechanics... nope. Hell nope.

I'll keep my Switch and either a PS or Xbox. Haven't decided which of the latter two yet. Leaning Toward Xbox now, since it seems to have much better backward compatibility. But both PS5 and XboxX seem to be focusing too heavily on raw specs and I've not seen any games yet that really scream "buy this console right bloody now!"

Re: Indie Developer To Reveal 4K, 120FPS Xbox Series X Exclusive Next Week

Heavyarms55

@gingataisen Naw. If graphics had been the most important thing for games, then the most successful game systems over the years would be quite different. Game Gear would have slaughtered Game Boy. Sega Gensis would have crushed SNES. Just to name a couple examples.

Gameplay first, story second, affordability third, then graphics maybe 4th.

Of course a massive difference in one of the categories can mess that up. You could release the best game ever imagined - but if it costs 20 times anything else on the market, it isn't going to sell. You could write a super interesting story, but if the game-play is riddled with glitches and crashes, it doesn't matter.

But graphics? Unless a game is truly hideous, that rarely is a deciding factor. Unless we're talking about the same game, on different devices. But games like Witcher 3, Super Mario Bros, Halo 3, Pokemon Red and Blue, Final Fantasy 7 and such did not sell so well because they were the prettiest games in their genres, they sold because they had the game play and stories people liked.

And if specs and graphics were key, the PC would reign undoubtedly supreme. With consoles only being popular as budget items for kids.

Re: Talking Point: How Important Is Backwards Compatibility To You?

Heavyarms55

Backwards compatibility is easily the biggest thing that's pulling me back toward MS as opposed to Sony this time around. For a traditional console that's chained to a TV, the idea of support for so many games is appealing to me.

But frankly, I don't care about all this talk of ray tracing, 4K, and all these various specs and numbers. Game play and story are what matter to me, graphics are only a minor issue. I grew up with the NES and Game Boy. Graphics are nice, but not even quite a secondary factor.

Re: What You Need To Know About Latency On Xbox Series X

Heavyarms55

It's been years and years since I've used a wireless controller with any noticeable latency from any of the big 3 game companies. It was only with the early 3rd party options that I ever noticed any issue.

But hey, more specs that they can throw around to make their not actually different controller sound cool.

Sorry if I sound harsh - I don't actually have any issues with the controller except that it looks fine. Just fine. Just like the console.

All this talk of specs and I just kinda zone out. The backwards compatibility has me excited. I hope Sony copies that. I'd love to have a Xbox that playes all Xbox games and a Playstation that plays all Playstation games. And that's the key here: Games sell hardware, not specs.

Re: Gallery: Avert Your Eyes, This Xbox Series X Is Naked

Heavyarms55

Both the console itself and the controller are bland to look at. These are minor issues that would not make or break a device for me, but I miss the days when companies actually tried to make their devices look cool.

This is a box, with a tiny logo and a disk drive. I don't know how they could make it much more bland.

Re: Xbox Series X Is So Clever It Can Add HDR To Old Games

Heavyarms55

What has me most worried about this generation of gaming coming up is just how much focus is being put on the graphics. But for me, graphics are pretty far down on the list of importance for games.

1. Gameplay
2. Story
3. Replayability
4. Graphics

I don't care if a game is the most visually stunning thing ever created if it lacks 1-3.

And with so much going into the graphics, games are getting to be ridiculous sizes! 80-120GB for a single game? The idea of a 1TB HD not being big enough for a measly 10 games is nuts! Especially as more and more games trend toward digital and installation.

Re: Xbox Series X Controller Still Requires AA Batteries

Heavyarms55

While I understand why people like having the option - perhaps the only thing the near - perfect Switch pro controller lacks - I still vastly prefer the battery in my Switch pro. I play daily and still find myself shocked when the battery finally runs dry and needs a recharge. But back in the Game Boy days, or even with the Xbox 360 controllers, I used to burn through AA batteries like candy.

Not to mention how much waste disposable batteries produce...
