We've heard a lot about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered in recent weeks, including leaked artwork and a trailer, and now it's finally arrived. The downside? It's only available for PS4 players for the next month, eventually launching on Xbox One and PC on April 30th.
It's fair to say plenty of Xbox and PC fans aren't happy about this. The comments to the tweet above are filled with players questioning why Activision and Sony would arrange such a deal, with some even suggesting they'll simply boycott the eventual release and play the original game via Xbox backwards compatibility instead.
If you do still want to try out the remastered campaign, it'll be available for pre-order later today. We're assuming the price will be the same as PS4, which is currently £19.99/$19.99.

Not surprising, Sony values exclusivity so stuff like this will continue to happen.
@Grumblevolcano I hate the timed exclusives of games too but let’s not pretend that Microsoft wouldn’t and hasn’t done this kind of thing themselves.
@FraserG It's part of the exclusivity deal that Activision made with Sony starting with Black Ops 3, and Xbox players have nothing to complain about they had an exclusive deal with MS for years and got stuff before PS3 players did.
@FraserG Also not sure if you saw this but Activision has confirmed no MP for MWR2

@Grumblevolcano Spoken like a true fanboy. Let's not go there as Nintendo and MS are just as guilty of doing the same thing (Bayonetta 2)

I know Activision and Sony are partnered up right now so not surprised. It's bad enough when that deal was for early DLC releases but I think its a bit much when that extends to a whole game release as well.
I have NEVER been a fan of exclusivity deals and content releasing earlier on one system. I know MS do and have done the same in the past and no doubt, this practice will continue in the future too. As someone who buys both Sony and MS consoles, I can 'choose' to take advantage and buy on the system that has the deals so it doesn't necessarily impact on me - but I still don't agree with it...
@Tasuki @FragRed Microsoft did it a lot last gen and then let exclusivity deals expire in current gen when XB1 initially flopped. Sony then obtained the exclusivity deals.
Wait, so this a just the campaign? No Multiplayer?... why?
@JudaiMasters This is why

Activision didn't want to split the player base.
@BAMozzy According to Charlie Intel, the deal for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was in place before the current changed to the CoD Exclusivity Deal. The original deal was that Song got everything a month before Xbox and PC now it's a week I believe.
Makes sense because sources are saying that MW2R has been finished for a few years now.
@Grumblevolcano Again let's be truthful and not sound like a fanboy, it not going to gain you extra points jumping on the Sony Hate Bandwagon. Even if Sony stopped doing Exclusivities, it doesn't mean Nintendo and Microsoft won't stop.
@Tasuki The last Xbox exclusive I remember was the 1 year timed exclusivity of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Maybe there was more after but Xbox exclusives ended when Microsoft started bringing lots of XB1 games to PC.
@Grumblevolcano The reason there wasn't alot of exclusive deals for the Xbox One is due to the sales of the Xbox One because of their horrible launch (Thank you Don Mattrick).
Same thing happened the last two generations. PS2 outsold Xbox so companies like Rockstar had exclusive deals then. I remember getting GTA Vic City on PS2 and all my friends who had Xboxes had to wait several months to get it on Xbox. Last gen Xbox 360 out sold PS3 due to PS3 not having BC and the higher price point, so companies like Activision made deals with MS for timed exclusives. Just gen now PS4 has out sold Xbox One.
Bottom line it's a business thing which every console is selling the most companies are going to go to them and make these sort of deals. I can guarantee that if Xbox One was selling better then the PS4, Activision would have kept the CoD deal with them.
Let's be honest if you were a company that had a gaming console and it was selling well and a company like Activision offered you X amount of money to have the game come out on your console first you would agree. Cause in the end it will mean more sales for you as well.
So who need to get off your high horse of Sony is evil and hey look at how cool I am bashing Sony on an Xbox site again it's not going to get you any points here.
@Tasuki You keep calling it "Sony hate" but it's not the case, I think console wars are stupid. Sure it would be better if these exclusives weren't exclusive but realistically exclusives are what sells consoles and Microsoft's not interested in that (it's all about subscriptions like Game Pass).
@Grumblevolcano You are not listening. Microsoft is not interested because of the Xbox sales compared to the PS4. Companies like Activision, EA, Rockstar aren't going to go out of their way to make exclusive deals with the company that has the least amount of consoles in people's homes.
For example if I own the rights to Call of Duty am I going to make an exclusive deal I am going to make a deal with the company who has sold 100 consoles world wide or 50?
So you need to stop acting like it's a Sony thing when all three are guilty of it
@Tasuki Wouldn't Microsoft have just renewed the old exclusivity deals if they wanted them that bad hence not giving Sony a chance to get the deals in the first place? I figured Microsoft just let the deals go as in 2016 they also removed Xbox exclusivity to 1st party games, everything goes to PC nowadays.
@Grumblevolcano Even if Microsoft wanted to continue the exclusivity doesn't mean Activision does. In the end it's up to Activision. Basically the contract ended between Microsoft and Activision and Instead of renewing the contract Activision went and talked to Sony because at the time PS4 out sold the Xbox One.
I suspect that the contract is for 5 years as just this past year Sony redid the term of the exclusivity with Modern Warfare going from 1 month on PS first to a week.
20 dollars for a "story" you can complete in a day. I never bought COD games for the single player. I'd run through them once, and then play multi-player.
Which is weird, because these days I play almost nothing but single player or single player focused games.
@Tasuki
Bayonetta 2 wasn't happening without Nintendo. This MW 2 remaster was happening without Sony and this seems like beyond a pointless waste of money. Nobody is running out to buy a PS4 for it and all it does for Activision is serve to tick off Call of Duty fans (who are already an angry bunch to begin with). Business deals happen all the time, I'm done losing my mind about them, but there's still some that make me ask... Why? This is one of those times. I can understand it for a big game like Final Fantasy VII remake, not this.
@Grumblevolcano @Grot
I agree with you guys. This is an idiotic exclusivity deal. One month? What is the point even? All they did is piss everyone off who plays on Xbox & PC. Activision is being run by idiots these days. And Sony is getting desperate because their next console isn’t much more powerful than an Xbox One X.
And Microsoft hasn’t done a deal like this in ages. The Tomb Raider deal was a long time ago & Phil has already said he won’t do these types of deals anymore.
Let Tasuki have his fun. The PS crowd, literally, only has exclusives (for now, and nothing else) over Xbox.....even if they have to pay for them. Lord knows, they haven’t had any good news for ages. As Xbox fans, we can just boycott this garbage & play the 360 versions for free with backwards compatibility. Oh wait.....PS4 doesn’t have that? Too bad. 😁
But at least they got Destiny DLC weapons for a year. Haha!
@Tasuki
Yea Bayonetta 2 wouldn’t exist without Nintendo. They helped fund the game. Nice try though. 🙄
