@RedShirtRod it is probably less tactic to convince people to switch but more to convince people to stay. The upcoming gen its Xbox who wants more converts than PlayStation considering the sizes of player base. Sony just wants to add more reasons for you to remain loyal where as Microsoft are pushing for no loyalty to specific hardware. This will work for a lot of the casuals playing Fifa, Cod, Fortnight etc.

I think this is very shortsighted but that being said I agree with Senua in that in the longterm it won't matter. This is just an early adopters bonus essentially. I admit I do play CoD and bonuses like this won't stop me from tearing through everyone in matches 🤣

@nessisonett for this very reason is why I've said the numbers don't matter. Its how it is leveraged and MS have built the velocity architecture with this in mind. It doesn't surprise me that MS are better at backwards compatability than Sony. They've been doing it longer.

It is what it is. At least I can chip away at that backlog!

I am buzzing for this. My favourite historical time period too (well from what they could find from it!).

Never played these games but they are on my gamepass list for series X arrival. They look incredible.

@KelticDevil your opinion is valid and welcome. Its the immediate saltiness for anything outside of Xbox that makes it seem like FUD.

You keep saying go back to Push square and I see it in a lot of your comments for any criticism against the Xbox but I joined both on the same day and have far more comments in here. My go to is Pure Xbox. You are trying to put me in a category but unfortunately I don't fit in a single category. I am open minded when it comes to hardware and have always taken a platform agnostic approach.

The Xbox is not a flawless brand which is why the didn't get off to a great start at the start of this gen. Likewise for Sony during the PS3 release. I can happily praise and criticise both brands. You on the other hand are like a horse with blinders.

@Cyrus29 in fairness to both the Xbox fan base and the PlayStation fanbase most encounters are pleasant. I enjoy reading people's comments most have something good to say. There's the odd ones now and again that can't praise one without tearing into the other. I can't take those people seriously even when some of the things they say are good points. Salty fanboys from both sides make up for 0.1% of gamers!

@KelticDevil I agree with a lot of your points here but sometimes your salt about PS is seeping through which makes it hard to see this as an objective comment. I agree with regards to Halo 3 but I don't think the example was a good way to dispute this. If it turns out that the new Fable was essentially a remake of the first one with new features then this would be the same and I am OK with that. I would still be excited for it and would still play it day one and it still would be a major factor for which consoles I would purchase.

Your point about Demon's Souls and its popularity is right on. Which makes it a perfect excuse for a remake. It didn't take off last time because the market wasn't ready for it but now after Dark Souls and Bloodbourne etc. The market is ready to take this game on.

The media has been unfair to Xbox but that will change soon enough. Between fanboyism and clickbait most of the things I have read have been trying to convince me NOT to buy the competition. But yeah the fanboyism towards PS has been much worse this generation, especially towards gamepass.

@BlueOcean I personally think there is a bit of biased across multiple media outlets for either console but I have to agree that certainly the last couple of months that Xbox has been getting criticism for their mistakes which is fair enough but Sony has been getting away with others. It makes sense considering the sales from this generation but they should of course be objective about everything they release.

I think we will see it play differently with the upcoming generation as MS starts to disrupt the market. Sony has a large grasp on the market but I think we will see MS start to loosen those fingers in the coming years.

@Sol4ris I agree Sony has more at launch (by a tiny margin). But I actually don't think anyone cares about launch games for either title at the moment. I might only be speaking for myself but I'm actually looking forward to better performing games overall. Something both pieces of hardware are going to deliver. It is weird but I am happy to wait for the 1st party games for both for now (maybe because my backlog for both Xbox and PS is still disgustingly large...).

Demon's Souls is a remake but I think some people (especially fanboys) are not giving it justice. It looks and plays great from what I've seen

I think the auto HDR that MS has developed makes some games look great too. Banjo looked more like an early xbox one than x360 game.

@KelticDevil just because this is Xbox doesn't mean everyone has to be so volatile towards anyone who is interested in another piece of kit. My account here is the same one for Push Square so your point makes no sense.

@thejameswhogames I do and don't. I think it is one to watch but not one to buy day 1. I'll probably skip the PS5 version and wait for the Series X version and see what people are saying.

Ordered mine from Currys UK. They have taken the money already but I doubt it will be dispatched before Monday.

@Mckilmer I debated the same but I am a massively compulsive buyer so I chickened out and paid for both a couple of weeks ago. I have a big PS backlog anyway so I will definitely use it with the improved performance. I am hoping that having the Series X as my main will mean that by the time I come to play one of the Sony exclusives they will be on sale!

I feel sorry for them tbh. Must be hell for everything to be hanging off of the release of a game for these people. There is so much out there to play. My backlog is huge so where it is a disappointment when there are delays there's still s**t loads I still need to play and finish so I'm generally not bothered by delays.

@BlueOcean in theory yeah but let's not forget the special gamepass loopholes with Gold! Once that's over though people will still pay the sub. It is good value.

@Mckilmer 100% I don't always like some of the things he says but he has really shook up the Xbox brand and created a buzz around it. Its what MS needed and he has done a good job.

@JayJ There are plenty of xbox fanboys invading push square. I use both as I have an interest in both. Unfortunately there is fanboy toxicity in both... I think the console war with fan boys would give religion a run for its money with how strong a belief some people have in one organisation. I see the good and bad in both much like any other organisation for that matter.

The whole console war is just boring. I love reading the comments people have generally but when I see the tit for tat with Sony and Microsoft in the comments it just irritates me. Some people have some genuinely interesting things to say that ends up getting washed out by the same old my dad is stronger than your dad comments.

@Carck do you have some insider knowledge because your info is bad. We are in the middle of a global pandemic. This is affecting all industries and your statement suggests you cannot comprehend the difference between incompetent management and unavoidable obstacles and screams pure ignorance.

You would complain about bugs if they didn't take the time. You have to ease the pressure and give these guys the time they need to release the game they have worked so hard to create.

@Revengercm I think you raised a few good points in your comments but Gamepass could be totally sustainable. It is all about recurring revenue for MS. Everything for them is moving to as a service models as it is cheap enough for people to adopt and brings in a pretty penny. Once they acquire enough studios to add regular games on an annual basis people won't stop paying for it and the money will pile up.

I've bought both XSX and PS5. I originally only had preordered the PS5 but after delving into what MS was offering it was hard to resist buying an xbox too.

Gamepass could flop but it could also thrive and change the face of the industry. I personally hope it thrives as it is a lot more accessible for those who cannot afford to buy lots of games and the industry will continue to grow.

100% would use this. Have it in multiple rooms without moving my box around. Great idea.

I think this acquisition is going to turn a lot of heads, especially when MS announced they are not finished yet!

@BrilliantBill exactly. Don't get me wrong Sony has been buying up studios so Microsoft has every right. I think what hurts the PlayStation side more is Microsoft's very deep pockets. Where Sony buys a developer studio MS buys a publisher 🤣

Yeah I'm the fanboy. I have 3 years of xbox gamepass and xsx is my main console. I'm always as objective as I can be. You could have literally said your first paragraph about not caring about 4k and that xbox needs 1GB to run this. But then you went down the traditional fanboy route of trashing the competition as a defence. If it didn't bother you half as much as you say it doesn't you wouldn't have made such a baseless comment.

@KelticDevil not everyone who thinks this acquisition chicken game MS and Sony are playing is a fanboy. Been using both consoles along with Nintendo and I have a great PC (which I don't really use anymore). I think the whole thing between both is BS. Its boring and I like most people just want to play games and not have to fork out for specific hardware to do just that. But I am forced to so I can play the games I am interested in.

His comments doesn't take him a fanboy it just means he is used to playing on his PlayStation he will have to now play on PC.

Are you so far up Microsofts a**e that any comment against them is fanboyism? Fanboys are just a drain on gaming and make reading any article recently a yawn fest with the "my console is better than yours" BS.

@Tharsman I think it will largely depend on how the generation kicks off but I can see them starting with timed exclusivity to try and push more people into buying gamepass. Get them sucked into that and they will struggle to find a reason to leave them. If they can keep hold of them as exclusives then they should to bolster the appeal.

@BrilliantBill I think the player base will be very split with this one. PlayStation is home to a lot of JRPG's and a lot of fans will flock to those games over western so a lot of PlayStation owners won't care that much about Bethesda games. You've then got the people who have lost faith in their ability deliver after the last couple of fallout games.
You've got the fanboys who will never admit it even if they were devastated.

Then there's the people like me who would hate to see them go exclusive but don't care because we are platform agnostic and will buy both. I literally play wherever I want. I will be using the xsx as my primary this gen.

@NEStalgia agree on the PS5 UI. Not sure im sold on it at all. Looks like there's just too much going on but I would have to try it and see. I crave the simplicity of just game tiles to select!

@Tharsman that is the series X. Your comment suggested PlayStation consumed the same. This is what I was referring to. Just because the xbox dash takes up 1GB doesn't mean theirs the same.

Just sounds like more fanboyism trash. I imagine if the final product is rendered in 4k you will be singing its praises rather than wallowing about your missing 1GB.

Probably about right alongside the digital ps5. I think casuals and gamers looking to buy both will likely take those options.

@endlessleep that will certainly be the conversation early on in the generation. Especially when most of the third party games are running at the same resolution and framerate on both consoles. Until MS deliver something truly next gen over Sony this is what they will attack with.

I personally would like to see it in 4K. I enjoy my PS4 Pro in 4k and would like my Series X to do the same but only if it has minimal impact. If it causes major disruption to the performance of my games then of course I can do without and 1080p is fine it is certainly not a deal breaker.

You don't play the UI but you use it a lot over the course of the lifecycle of the console. I think I'm just a sucker for the detailed themes etc.

@Jakovasaur haha literally my problem. I was so embedded in their ecosystem that I tried to leave several times but failed. I'm a part of the way out now and will continue to buy alternative products now.

That being said if some of their products does what I need better than the competition then I would be a fool not to explore it!

Xbox has the simpler option.

PS will likely be cheaper over time due to competition.

Speeds between each doesn't really matter as long as it matches the existing internal.

@Jakovasaur I have been Apple mad for a long time but recently switched to Android for this very reason. I don't like how they are trying to monopolise. They have become somewhat arrogant in recent years.
