Very curious to see the full technical breakdowns from Digital Foundry when they become available. I was watching a YouTube video this morning and it seems like the base PS5 can hit some fairly high frame rates in performance mode.
I managed to keep my expectations tempered pretty well on this one. From what I've read, it still sounds pretty cool to me, but some of the issues with how the story is told and inventory is managed sounds like it's pretty sub par.
That said, this sounds like one I'd like to check out, provided the console versions don't run like a hot mess. I'm in no rush. Capcom has given me plenty to do for the foreseeable. So while Crimson Desert may not be the "must have" experience, I still think it will be one to check out in the not too distant future.
This is nice to see. It's the opposite of what is going on with the Crimson Desert game. They've showed lots of gameplay and they have a strong air of confidence on the title.
To be sure, I want both of these games to turn out well, but when there is discourse over why we aren't sure about a game, this is a great example of how you show what we can expect. Capcom obviously has more resources, but people have been burned a lot on "trust me bro" with games like Mind's Eye, The Day Before, and heck, even Cyberpunk (fixed and amazing today).
I played this game last year. It's an amazing experience! The thing to remember is that it's going to be the hardest at first. You start off in the dumps and when you work your way up, it's amazing.
By the end of the game, money was useless to me, despite having an excessive amount of it. I just stole. I stole everything. I stole the clothes from people and their money. I stole their horses and sold them at the horse fence. I stole their weapons and used them for my benefit. I stole armor from shops and was a tank.
I think it's fair to be skeptical. They want our money and haven't showed the product running were a large amount of people will play it. Mind's Eye, Cyberpunk, etc. showed us why you can never really know until it's out.
IMHO - another reason we need to see devs stop chasing the fortnite/CoD path. If a game can be done forever after a month, why am I going to risk spending my cash on it? Single player offline games never have to worry about being unplayable unless they are poorly developed.
@FraserG He really did do a lot of things right early on, but I genuinely believe the Activision/Blizzard acquisition was his downfall. It's genuinely felt downhill since.
Hunh. Interestingly this article makes me optimistic about Xbox. I strongly disliked the “Xbox everywhere” thing as it seems obvious to me that it was raising a white flag.
Hope all my fears about the new leadership turn out to be wholly unjustified. I enjoy positive surprises!
I would love that, but I think Xbox is worse at managing their teams than PlayStation.
Having said that, this move by PlayStation was such a horrid mismanagement I can’t stop thinking about it.
I did have the thought that I hope the team figures out a way to stay together. I mean, Xbox has such an excellent back catalogue Bluepoint would help bring Xbox back to the front.
I’m so glad they are using their proprietary engine instead of UE5. I don’t need ultra realistic people in every game. I get immersed in Bethesda RPGs because of the deep gameplay. I got hopes for TES 6!
I saw that Sony was involved in the development of the new Kena game. Wonder to what extent and how that could impact it coming to Xbox later. I played and loved the first one on PS5, but given it’s an indie title I hope everyone gets to play it.
@FraserG well that is true, my friend. Weird it’s taken me so long considering I played Morrowind on the OG Xbox, and Oblivion on 360. (I plan to finally play TES 4 remake in the not too distant). I think I just had other things going on back in 2011 and then I was heavily distracted when I sat down to start really gaming again back in 2014.
I haven’t played it simply because I never got around to it. I may grab it soon though. I don’t have GPU anymore, but I’m okay with buying it because it is the kind of game I think I’ll enjoy.
I'm a fan of how they currently look, truthfully. I would be okay if they didn't change it. Not that I would mind if they did. Just saying, I really like how they are!
Has to be a lack of effort on the part of Xbox to support developers. Maybe they cut back on it to give the shareholders a good quarterly meeting. Or because Nadella needed a new boat.
I’m all in. Hope it turns out well! Remedy makes excellent games and I will play it, so long as it launches without major issues. I think they are a dev who knows what they are doing for the most part.
Microsoft only cares about profits. Everything else is less important than the quarterly meeting with shareholders.
And before anyone says “well they need to make a good product to get a profit” I want to tell you that it would be giving them a lot of credit to think they consider more than the next 3 months.
I really liked Phil back when it seemed like he was pulling Xbox out of a funk, but man does it seem like he’s become nothing more that another run of the mill CEO who only cares about profits.
I'm glad. I've had the Xbox version for a long time and I was able to redeem the free upgrade. I really wanted to play Undead Nightmare. Seeing that it's 60fps now is awesome.
People talk a lot about Xbox's hardware failures, but it's so much harder to ignore their software failures. They have had a few good games recently, but they bought Activision for CoD and their releases have been meh. Xbox seems to have major issues managing their game studios.

Re: Crimson Desert On Xbox: Release Date, Release Times & Potential Download Size
The game looks really cool, but the defensive nature when asked about the console versions then only providing a PS5 Pro to DF is… odd.
I hope it’s good! It sounds and looks like it could be very cool!
Re: Roundup: Here's What The Reviews Say About Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
I think I need to get this one.
Re: Assassin's Creed Unity's 60FPS Upgrade Is Seemingly Broken On Xbox Series X|S
Disappointing. Hopefully they fix it instead of just letting it be that way from now on.
Re: These 10+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (March 9-13)
I am pumped for this Monster Hunter Stories 3 title. I haven’t played any of the others, but this one looks very good and I think I’ll give it a go.

Re: Opinion: Xbox Should Consider Cancelling Halo: Campaign Evolved For PS5
Master Chief on PlayStation just feels wrong in my opinion. Selling to the Xbox and PC crowd should land what they need if the game is good enough.
If they want more sales, cut the prices of Xbox Series X|S and stop being greedy.

Re: Former Xbox Employee Returns After 13 Years As New Chief Of Staff
@NeoRatt I’m glad you have said this, but I am lacking any level of confidence with the decision making and the future of the platform.
I want to see Xbox succeed. I hope it does.
Re: Former Xbox Employee Returns After 13 Years As New Chief Of Staff
This means one of two things to me.
1) Microsoft is punting on AI (not likely)
2) Microsoft is forcing AI into gaming (more likely)

Re: New Xbox Boss Makes Official Statement As She Takes Over From Phil Spencer
I have zero faith in this person they picked to run the gaming division.
I bet that statement was written by AI.
This also just seems to be continued fallout from the Activision acquisition.

Re: Microsoft Rewards Quietly Increases Its Prices For Xbox Gift Cards
Literally just redeemed for a gift card, so I'm pretty lucky there.
Looks like the shareholders berated Nadella again and he figured out a way to keep give them an extra penny per second.
Hash tag capitalism strikes again.
