Xbox Announces Four More Console Features, Including Two Highly-Requested Ones

The folks on the Xbox team are back with yet another set of console improvements today, the majority of which are rolling out to the Xbox Insider program first before eventually going public in the weeks and/or months to come.

There are four improvements mentioned in here, but two that are particularly noteworthy due to how highly-requested they've been. The first of these is the ability to include Party Chat in your video captures, which Xbox boss Asha Sharma described as something "players have been asking for for a long time".

Another one that might go under the radar but nevertheless is an extremely important feature is the ability to access multiple versions of cloud saves for select titles. This is being rolled out at first with Forza Horizon 6, with the idea being that if your cloud save corrupts, you can still go back and access a previous one to restore your progress.

We've talked before about concerns around save data on Xbox, so this could eventually prove massive.

Anyway, let's take a look at all of these four new console features in detail! Three of them are rolling out now to Alpha Skip-Ahead Xbox Insiders, while the wishlists feature is actually rolling out to all Xbox players right now.

1. Add Chat Audio To Game Captures

"When you’re in a party, you can decide whether party chat is included in your recordings. Each player controls whether their voice can be captured, so voice audio is only included when players opt in. Not in a party? You can also choose to include game chat audio in your captures."

2. View Your Achievement History With New Filters

"In addition to the default ‘last played’ view, you can now sort games by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore earned, or number of Achievements unlocked."

3. Access Older Cloud Saves When Things Go Wrong

"If you need to recover a previous version of your save, you can browse available cloud save versions and restore an earlier save directly from your console experience. This feature is currently available for Forza Horizon 6 via Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Restore saved data, with support for additional titles coming in future updates."

4. Add Up To 1000 Games To Your Xbox Wishlist

"Now available to all XBOX players, you can add up to 1,000 games to your wishlist, making it easier to keep track of the titles you want to play, follow, and pick up later."
