Halo 1 Co-Creator Reveals His Verdict On The Campaign Evolved Remake

Everyone's been sharing their thoughts on Halo: Campaign Evolved over the past couple of weeks since it first arrived with the Premium Edition, but what does the Halo 1 co-creator, Marcus Lehto, think of the game so far?

Lehto played a massive role in bringing Halo to life back at the turn of the millennium, working in major roles on Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo: Reach before departing Bungie in 2011. In regards to Campaign Evolved, he's got mostly great things to say about it, highlighting that he really loves the upgrades and is having a lot of fun.

His thoughts have racked up over 100,000 views on social media already:

Lehto shared a lot more thoughts in the comments, such as his appreciation for the weapon feel and the Flood levels in particular, while also praising the decision to rebuild the game in Unreal Engine as a "worthwhile effort".

He also stated that he likes "many of the liberties taken and additions with the cinematics", but that he also finds some of them "absolutely cringe". Another negative is that he thinks the new hints are "too heavy handed" and "pandering to a new era of players with 0% attention span".

Ultimately though, the Halo co-creator clearly wants to highlight the "fun" aspect of Halo: Campaign Evolved above all. He even responded to someone who bemoaned that "so many people are hating it just for the sake of hating":

"This [X] platform fosters that hate. Get us all in a room - in person - and I bet we would all eventually have a pretty damn good time playing the game together."

It's a thumbs up from Lehto, then! Whether Halo: Campaign Evolved will end up proving a success and lead to more remakes remains to be seen, but we've been having a blast with it so far, and clearly this Halo co-creator has as well.
