It's been a while since we last talked about Grounded 2 here at Pure Xbox, but the Xbox first-party title has been progressing nicely ever since its initial release back in late July of 2025, and now it's preparing for a major week ahead.
August 11th marks the "Into The Abyss" update for the game, which focuses on one of the largest areas of Brookhollow Park in the form of the pond, which now allows for deep underwater exploration. We recently had a chance to view some behind-closed-doors footage of Into The Abyss, and it certainly looks a great addition to the game.
For what it's worth, here's what Xbox has said about it in the past:
"Exploration plays a huge role in Into the Abyss. New diving suits help players stay underwater longer and reach deeper sections of the pond, opening up new paths and opportunities as they progress through the area. Into the Abyss is all about exploration. Players will journey through new areas like the Mountains, the Bayou, and the depths beneath the pond, each offering new discoveries and challenges along the way. New diving suits will help players stay underwater longer and reach deeper parts of the pond as they continue their adventure."
"Players can look forward to: New areas to explore, including the bridge, the pergola, the gnarly bark, and the depths beneath the pond โ new diving suits that allow players to stay underwater for longer and reach previously inaccessible areas โ the return of familiar creatures, including the koi fish and diving bell spider, alongside new threats โ the Toe-biter, a new amphibious Buggy capable of travelling across both land and water."
At the same time as the Into The Abyss launch, Grounded 2 will also be expanding to PlayStation 5 for the first time, hopefully racking up a bunch more sales for Xbox and ensuring Obsidian will have loads more content to add in the months and years to come.
Into The Abyss will be included free if you either own Grounded 2 or have access to it via Xbox Game Pass, and as mentioned, it arrives on August 11th. In the meantime, let us know how you're getting on with the game down below!
