The harsh reality is, the Xbox is a media device now not a dedicated gaming console, excluding YouTube via TV and the console, most people have other devices to watch and consume other forms of media but if there isn't a top eye catching IP like let's say Spider-Man then people (especially kids) are not going to be running to you waving their money in the air, they need one big time instead of focusing on the subscription-xcloud route with games funded and developed on a budget, it's just like Disney+ & Netflix, they all become junk in the short term, most people only know & play "AAA" games, COD GTA & Fortnite and that's the problem.
I use the original Xbox one for movies in bed but my god its super sluggish without an SSD just loading up the xbox user interface compared to the new consoles, I was playing COD WWII, loading up the class load out system when inside a lobby with a timer changing a few attachments quickly before a game starts, the asset's (guns) loading on screen do set you back a couple of seconds because of it. The lack of stronger/faster WiFi frequencies on that thing is a bummer especially when paying for 500mbs, the console likes to receive roughly 70mbs only most of the time but all in all I do have a Series X now and the Xbox one was used for retail emulation but with that now nuked it's just junk at the bottom of my bedroom shelf ready to be turned on for a random movie night.
It's sounds about right that the CMA have overestimated it all, it's just like parliament with plenty of political waffle, nothing gets done until a year later but it's still all tied in a birds nest.
(But it could said there is an end goal in mind to stop making them eventually)
With the way they go about things over the past 15 years, It seems they want it to be that way for easy sleazy software sales along with government entities pushing green agendas reducing e-waste, I hope there is a console in the next 10 years but if not I'll upgrade my pc every so often, more then ever, get the biggest hard- drive & stick to emulation every time the current generation ends before fully digital forms of media or entertainment are the norm.
@Gamingforlife They are very "exclusive" people, in a high social class that feel a hierarchy because all of their games (that are not always the best) are not available to everyone.
Thanks for the insight (the review) I've just pre-ordered, I was going to jump straight into the latest Sniper Elite 5 game but this seems more appealing and not to long so I'll give this a shot first.
Was hoping to see Dragon Ball Z Kakarot on the list, I wouldn't mind the full current package but due to all the dlc adding up the price I think I'll wait for a while.
It's a shame, I suppose the main three not turning up could give indie developers some shine though but most people only care about AAA "exclusives" & so on like GTA.
I'm hoping they do cross play for age of empires 4 with Xbox & PC because my friend is limited on hardware via his laptop playing just AOE 3 on a APU, we can't raise the stakes like more teams because it struggles at times but the game can be buggy every now & then due to big influxes of enemy's & ships.
It is what it is, If the game is super short I wouldn't be paying these current prices until later on, right about now having a backlog on multiple machines is a bonus.
No chance, not happening!, (is what I went with) but I suppose the way they went about things announcing a media box or whatever it was when the Xbox one was announced in 2013 it could be a possibility in mind for them still.
If they decline this offer and take it further they are sure being a *itch and a spoilt sport, we know they want a sweet slice of that microtransaction pie but like damn calm down, get back in you're "exclusive" bubble and make those live services plus the cinematic interactive experiences.
It's like an argument on twitter, someone tweets something (Xbox) & then the twitter police come in with rules, laws and regulations, (playstation), I am right & you are wrong and there is nothing you can do about it.
@Moto5 No but I have just looked it up after you mentioned it, it made my mind boggle, i ended up buying it haha, thank you the recommendation man, I've been playing antichamber that is fairly similar recently and a game called kubic.
@Serpentes420 Classics retro from the 80s, and beyond, games that have never been done before like indie games, not COD, FIFA, GTA, battle royale games, etc etc that most play, any recommendations young padawn?
I'm all for this game, because it's not the same regurgitated casual gameplay like most today, for example, get on a horse or in a car, go A to B going high and low whilst getting your hand held along the way with directions or voice dialogue's, find an item, add cosmetic clothing, use skill points for upgrades, solve a quest, watch a cinematic scene 20 times, beat a boss or a mini boss by hacking, slashing, shooting with a rifle, go to X Y Z, to then finish a check list. Games that leave me to my own demise having to use my brain by problem solving with puzzles or just naturally trying to find my own way is right up my alley, but most people get stressed out with stuff like that because they don't want to try, people are used to the same types of gameplay these days like mentioned above and if it ain't that, then it ain't good.
@Tasuki And those folks are the causal ones that buy the microtransactions, they buy a buffed out gun until it's gets nerfd at the next season, it's like these developers are offering a bag of dopamine too keep them engaged.
I have never really had any interest in their games for years ever since they went full sports live service only games, i haven't purchased an EA game for a while, since need for speed carbon/most wanted 2005 and FIFA street 2, but if Amazon ever did end up buying them it's better then tencent, I suppose.
I am getting to an age now, where games are a becoming a selective choice due to them been over the top, stress inducing, expensive/grindy, live services that don't respect my time. A lot of games are not well suited for my age category these days so seeing these fantasy meta verse forms of virtual reality entertainment coming into play is something that doesn't suit me either, Especially constantly wearing a VR headset so have a good one kids make sure to enjoy reality also but long live the old-school form of gaming & bring on The Callisto Protocol.
It would be dumb to not put call of duty on a system with 117 million users with a high percentage of them only playing & purchasing that game ever year religiously.
