Getting sick of ads tbh, it ruined the web and now it's ruining my xbox.
I can tolerate it when something is free as companies are there to make money, but I paid for this console and I also have to pay a subscription to play online. Makes me want to throw it in the bin and go back to PC gaming.
These side projects are neat and definitly make the gaming world more interesting, but I'd still be happier if they improved their current controller. Gyros, adaptive triggers and fixing stick drift spring to mind.
Generally, upgrading my console would be a reflex action.. There is a new one therefore I purchase it. However even for me this seems like a tough sell, given almost all of the Series games run perfectly well on my old Xbox One X.
If we had proper next gen games it would be a completely different argument.
I'm hoping there is the option to fix the aiming to the centre of the screen like in modern FPS. The free aiming mechanic was fine back in the day, but I think my brain will struggle to readjust to it.
Personally I quite liked Halo 5 and Halo Infinite. I don't really understand the bashing, I guess there should be more multiplayer content but otherwise it's pretty good.
Personally I'd rather see an xbox hand held, the steam deck has proven what can be done by quite modest hardware, especially when you don't need a high resolution on a big screen.
Streaming just doesn't work for many of us due to poor Internet connections.
NFTs could be interesting in a console, my first thought was for used digital game sales/trading. Although this could be achieved without NFTs by simply reallocating a software licence. More likely NFTs will simply be a way to attribute value to an ingame piece of tat.
The concept of a home console is idiotic tbh, I have 2 Xbox consoles, (Series X and the older One X) both are in my home and only have my account logged in. Why should one of them not work correctly when the internet is down or Xbox services are offline?
I'm not sure it makes sense to lock online behind a paywall for console gamers, especially when people on a PC can play exactly the same game without needing a Gold subscription. Just make online gaming free and retire Gold, most of the free games are crap these days.
This list is stupid. Gran Turismo is pretty much a racing sim, I wouldn't compare that to something like Forza Horizon or Need for Speed, other than those games also feature cars. It's like comparing DayZ to Minecraft because they both use a First Person view.
@Medic_Alert You're right, they did talk about the reduction in wireless lag during the release. I'd honestly forgotten about that. How much of an issue it was for previous generations is debatable, I currently use a mixture of Xbox Series and Xbox One pads (on both Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC) and I don't notice any difference between them.
I like the Xbox Series controller, it's my preferred controller for gaming on PC when not using a KB and Mouse. Things I like are being able to use rechargeable AA batteries, asymmetric stick layout and the D-Pad. It's also zero hassle and compatible with most PC games. But these are all pretty basic features when compared with the competition.
Summing it up, MS have a solid controller but it's not terribly innovative and somewhat boring. Aesthetically, it's also gotten more boring since the XBox One release.
Oooh, and batteries. I like the AA batteries, it reduces the amount of electronic waste and they're easy to replace. Not really innovation, but still nice when compared to the competition
I just had a thought, they did innovate a bit. The D-Pad, I like the new D-Pad... But, it's just molded plastic. Nintendo got HD Rumble, IR sensors and Gyro, Playstation has the funny touch pad and the fancy trigger feel(don't remember the name) Xbox, got a share button and a remolded D-Pad....
Microsoft are pretty poor for new controller innovation. Basically they stopped at the 360, changed the shape a bit and added a share button. Woweee! Sony and Nintendo on the other hand are always trying new things, they don't all stick but its interesting to try.
This isn't to say I don't like the Xbox controller, I own many interations and use them almost every day. For basic gaming needs they're brilliant, but just boring.
My gaming group (Mostly PC gamers in their 30's and 40's) tried Halo Infinite when it launched then gave up pretty quickly, saying "Don't like games where the enemy are a bullet sponge" I can see what they mean to some extent, if you're used to a lot of modern shooters. Personally I'm quite enjoying the game, both campaign and multiplayer. But I don't like the way the event challenges end up dominating my challenge list, I'd like to play another mode thanks and still get the opportunity to progress my battle pass.
I had the noisy disc drive issue, I sent the console back to MS for a warranty replacement. The replacement kept rebooting itself, so that was then replaced with another XSX that had a noisy disc drive. I've since rearranged my TV cabinet so the XSX can rest on its side, its cured the issue for now but it's still not good enough.
I did raise the noisy disc issue on the Pure Xbox forums but nobody else experienced my problem. Therefore I assumed I was just unlucky.
Xbox series is just a continuation rather than a new console tbh. I think that's the way Microsoft will play it for future generations as well.
As for a favourite, I don't really have one, the consoles aren't really different enough to bother picking. Unlike Nintendo consoles that differ wildly from one generation to the next.
The internet is based upon open technologies... I really don't want a metaverse that is owned by a company, or worse still multiple companies all have their own metaverse.
AC2 and its add ons. I loved Ezio as a character and the way he developed across the games, Renaissance Italy was a fantastic setting. All around a superb game without too much busy work.
In my experience 8-10 hours is pretty typical for a Halo campaign. 6 years since Halo5 so personally I was hoping for a bit more, but I'm assuming they're calling it Halo Infinite for a reason so maybe more content will be added at a later date?
I don't think a knee jerk reaction and boycotting the publisher is the right approach, it could lead to perfectly decent people losing their jobs. I'd like to know what ActiBlizz is going to do to correct this type of behavior going forwards, if they intend to confront the issue and change the culture then great, if they do nothing then I'll take my money elsewhere.
Thank the maker! Finally MS is going to stop treating us like little children.
I've always disliked the way Windows Store and by extension the XBox app handles installs. Your locked out of the WindowsApps directory by default, then even when you break in very few of the directories contained within are named in a meaningful way.
It seems I'm several hours too late, but Game still let me get all the way to payment and order confirmation, before telling me its out of stock. Nice one Game.
When the trailer was shown a year ago I couldn't find anything other than a 1080p highly compressed version which is why I originally thought it looked underwhelming, the most recent footage is all available at 4K so just from that alone it'll look better. I do prefer the new textures and lighting in the new trailer, it looks more like a series x game now.
I'm in the minority here, but I really liked Halo 5. The gunplay in that game was excellent and it's hard to go back to the older games after playing that for an extended period.
Looks like a fun game, although I have reservations about the open world aspect. Ubisoft have done open worlds to death and to be honest I'm pretty tired of it.
Our college common room had the PS1 with the Wu-Tang clan game for a while. I've gotta say I thought it was terrible and the music was even worse. Of course, others preferences will likely be very different to mine, so to those that enjoy Wu-Tang congrats, but I'll likely be skipping this game.
2TB, I'll be snapping one of those up. The 1TB internal drive really isn't big enough, and I'm too lazy to keep swapping games between internal and external USB drives.
Sadly, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games aren't what they used to be. The new games look a lot better for sure, but to me they feel like a caricature of the earlier iterations.
For a second I got excited, then I realised this is nothing to do with the old TV show and thus will not have Felicity Kendals bottom rendered digitally.
Titanfall was one of the best games of last gen even without a dedicated SP campaign. It dared to try something different and it worked really well. Additionally, the titan configuration was better in the first game.
