Re: 343 Industries Has Released An Incredible Deep Dive Into Halo Infinite's Multiplayer

robe

They've not sold it to me yet as it just looks like more of the same. While I don't want a battle royal mode I would like something large scale and more like Battlefield 1942 with a Halo dressing. Or... a spec ops squad vs AI with a strategic objective rather than just waves of enemies. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any Halo game has had either of these game modes before.
The world has moved on since DM, TDM and CTF and while they are still enjoyable, I'd like a fresh new experience.

On the plus side, the graphics are much better than last years trailer.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Xbox & Bethesda's E3 2021 Showcase?

I've been looking forward to finding out what they'd done with Halo Infinite Multiplayer, but after watching this I didn't see anything new... As a Halo fan I found myself wanting to play the new Battlefield game instead. EA simply presented their game better I'm sure, but MS really need to work on getting people excited about this game, rather than just waxing lyrically about the heritage of Halo and how popular it is.

Edit: Just read some of the comments and @Grumblevolcano has pointed out there is another session for Halo, so fingers crossed thats a good one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-O7OuliQRY

Re: The New Forza Motorsport Will Be A 'Huge Generational Leap', Says Dev

robe

I used to get lost in games like this for hours, endlessly lapping my favourite tracks shaving of tenths of a second. I love the detail, but after sinking a load of time into Forza Horizon I think I much prefer the entertainment and silliness.

That being said, I am still very much looking forward to the new Forza Motorsport.

Re: No Man's Sky Prisms Update Introduces Another Visual Overhaul

@The-Chosen-one This game is so much better than the initial release so any reviews you read from that period please disregard. As for whether it's good or not, if you enjoy exploring, harvesting, building bases and space flight then yes it's excellent. However, I've always thought there was a lack of urgency and danger in the game, so I tend to play it when I want a care free and chilled experience.

Re: Poll: Would You Like To See The Return Of Snap Mode On Xbox?

robe

I'm probably in the minority but I think the Xbox OS has gotten worse, especially the advertising tiles.

Back on topic, I really liked snap mode, I found it useful when following a guide or just keeping an eye on the news while I played. I missed it when it was removed, but admit that I'd forgotten about it until this article.

Re: Rumour: Wait, Is Tom Cruise Going To Be In Starfield?

@VenomousAlbino fair comment. But voice actors are a special breed of actor, similar to fashion models vs hand models.

Seriously though I did consider voice acting but the PureXBOX questions specifically said 'see' so I decided to go with that. Voice acting in games is absolutely essential, a decent voice actor can really bring a character to life.

Re: Seven More Games Are Getting Touch Controls For Xbox Cloud Gaming

robe

Again, I love the effort they're putting in, but trying to play twitch based games over cloud with a controller is just about OK if you're patient and don't mind getting killed a lot, touch controls just make the experience incredibly frustrating.
Personally I'd like to see a turn based RPG using cloud and touch, I think that would be well suited to the technology.

Re: Video: Here's Biomutant Running Across Various Xbox Consoles

This game looks fun, but some of the surfaces look a little flat.. For example during the fight sequence the floor textures. I know this is nit picking, but I was expecting it to look better.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that if they do a X|S version it'll be more than a simple resolution boost.

Re: LucasArts Classic Zombies Ate My Neighbors Arrives On Xbox This June

robe

@101Force I already jumped the gun and pre-ordered. No idea what version they're providing and the internet doesn't seem to know either. But you're right, widescreen support would be a decent enhancement, personally I'm not fussed about the resolution as the SNES version was quite playable and I never had the opportunity to try this on the Mega Drive. My hope is that they've taken a little time to sensibly enhance these games much like the way Blizzard have with their recent retro collection.

Re: Microsoft Is Testing Dual Screen Support For Xbox Cloud Gaming

@Kilamanjaro I had some similar issues when xCloud was in Beta, even when my phone was within 1m of my wifi router. Anyway, I found the issue in the end was with my phone not being up to the task for whatever reason, my Wife's phone and tablet worked fine and then when I upgraded my phone that also worked fine, for reference I'm currently using an Sony Xperia 1ii whereas the older phone that had issues was a CAT S41.

Re: Josef Fares Asks Major Nelson What He Thinks Of The 'Confusing' Xbox Console Names

robe

I think the problem here is that the names are not intuitive. The Xbox Series naming convention doesn't clearly rectify this either, although using the word Series implies that there could be future consoles in the Series... Let us hope they have some clear kind of naming strategy.
On the other hand Nintendo don't have intuitive naming either, but other than the Wii and WiiU they have radically different names between console generations, so when diddykins asks for a Nintendo Switch a parent will have to try really hard to confuse this with a Nintendo WiiU.

Re: Don't Expect The Xbox Series X Dashboard To Get A Major Overhaul

robe

I don't think the original Xbox One UI was terrible, but the new UI irritates me everytime I use it simply because of the advertising space. I don't just mean the Microsoft advertising either, I've had several adverts appear on the home screen entirely unrelated to gaming or Microsoft.
