Re: Talking Point: Have You Ever Bought An Xbox For One Specific Game?

armondo36

I'm dating myself here but the game that made me want an original Xbox was the first Rallisport Challenge. I worked near an electronics store that had an Xbox demo kiosk. Rallisport was AMAZING at the time, and I bought my Xbox because of it.

That and the fact I was CERTAIN that Microsoft would have the good sense to buy Sega lol

Re: Phil Spencer Remains Tight-Lipped On Whether Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will Come To Xbox

armondo36

Lol that was a masterful dodge, you have to give him credit. I'll say this: I just kind of doubt that ff14, while apparently a great game, is the be all end all of this agreement, nor do I think this is about some final fantasy game that's 5 or more years away. PROBABLY ff7 and especially ff16 are coming, but all the particulars aren't worked out yet. I'm in the very small minority that didn't really enjoy the remake, to be honest, but I do hope the games come over.

Re: Our Predictions For The 2023 Xbox Games Showcase

armondo36

I don't think they're going to make Redfall a part of this showcase, because they're either going to release the 60fps patch as quietly as possible, or they're going to go the Cyberpunk route and actively try to fix the game full stop, which they'll want to announce later. If anything they might mention it quickly and say " we've heard you" a bunch of times lol

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Won't Stick To '12-Month Window' For Xbox Games Showcase 2023

armondo36

It seems like some people only read the headline or something. I don't think Microsoft are saying that NONE of the games they.show are coming out in the next year, just that there will be a few that are farther out. Microsoft doesn't like to provide release dates anyway, and they probably feel like they burned themselves last year promising those games would be out within a year. Honestly if they say Forza, Starfield and maybe Hellblade 2 will be out within a year, maybe finally show Fable and State of Decay, with maybe a teaser of Elder Scrolls, I'd be satisfied.

Re: Reaction: Zelda Reviews & Redfall Woes Put The Pressure On Xbox Exclusive Starfield

armondo36

Redfall's terribleness has been overstated. it's not like the worst game in history or anything. They dropped the ball to be sure, but the main issue with Redfall is that it feels aimless and unfinished. there have been MANY worse games. the shooting feels ok (could be better), the exploration is fine (could be better), etc. it's a 6/10 or so, not great but everyone should calm down.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of Redfall So Far?

armondo36

@GuyinPA75 it comes down to what Arkane does. This game with fixed controls, 60 fps, and a patch to add more and possibly smarter enemies actually wouldn't be a bad game at all. I'm expecting a big patch in the next few months, Arkane is a very important studio for Xbox. This isn't the last word on Redfall.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of Redfall So Far?

armondo36

Obviously it isn't great. It feels unfinished and unfocused, as everyone has said, BUT I expect there to be a patch at some point that improves the frame rate, enemy AI and enemy density, which would actually make it a decent time at least. I never saw Redfall as being as vitally important as a lot of people did, so that's just me

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer: 'I'm Upset With Myself' Over Redfall Launch

armondo36

Oh stop, Phil. Let's get something out of the way here. Microsoft has known for at LEAST a year that this game wasn't coming together. That's why they delayed it, that's why actual game play was rarely shown, that's especially why there was a review embargo. It was a trash game and Phil and everyone knew it. Maybe Arkane was hellbent on releasing it, who knows, but this pretending you didn't know what was happening is ridiculous. You released the game because you could see the game wasn't getting any better, you wanted to at least recoup some of your investment, and you were ready to have Arkane move on to Dishonored 3. Just say that.

Re: Phil Spencer Says Xbox 'Needs To Improve' Its Development Process

armondo36

Spencer pretty much admits what I've always wondered: Xbox is entirely TOO hands-off with their developers. There's something to be said for letting the teams work in peace, but the lack of oversight given to their projects is a MAJOR problem. whoever is responsible for keeping the teams on track, and getting these games completed on time and in good shape isn't doing a very good job to say the least. i think Microsoft is at a point where they will need to decide whether Xbox as a brand is worth continuing, but if it is, there will need to be a MAJOR restructuring, possibly starting with Phil himself. He's been in his position for 10 years and is Xbox in a much greater place than when he started? They were in distant 3rd place when he was promoted. where are they now..?

Re: Redfall Dev Says The Team Is 'Continuing To Improve' The Xbox Title

armondo36

i think everyone who played Redfall yesterday came to a similar conclusion: it doesn't feel finished. Microsoft clearly knew the game wasn't coming along very well, which is why it was delayed (imagine how bad it would have been if they had released it LAST YEAR!). It just seems like Microsoft decided it couldn't delay the game again, so they dropped it. i figure there will be some small patches here and there and in the next few months a larger update to address some of the many issues. Think Fallout 76. I'll say it again: Starfield had better be good. I think pretty much everyone has one foot out the door by now.

Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think Of Redfall On Xbox Game Pass

armondo36

A few hours in here, and if there is a silver lining, it's the gavt that this game has highlighted exactly what the problem is at Microsoft: their quality control is abysmal. They have had years to look at this game and see it wasn't coming together properly, to either cancel it or push it out, or of nothing else to ensure that these fairly obvious problems are ironed out. We know they knew that the game wasn't very good because of the review embargo (usually the sign of a bad game). Whoever is responsible for making sure games under the Microsoft umbrella come out ON TIME and more importantly in good shape, is stealing money at this point.

All I can say is that Starfield better be good...

Re: Redfall Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (May 2)

armondo36

I've played a few hours and the word that keeps coming to mind is "rushed". It feels like this project was pushed because Arkane felt it could be profitable, but it needed more time, even with the delays. I saw someone compare it to Fallout 76, which is fair, because I do expect there to be several extensive patches made for Redfall. It's probably a 6/10 right now but many of the shortcomings seem fixable, honestly. A patch could add more enemies, possibly make them more aware of you (they often just stare at you for a few seconds before reacting), some graphical polish, etc. There's a pretty good game in there somewhere, but this is a bad look right now. Microsoft needed a win here, especially after Benedict Fox. All I can say is that Starfield had better be great...
