@themightyant well, in the case of this year, they literally said everything they were showing was coming out in the next 12 months. also, i don't really need any surprises either, because Microsoft has a habit of having their "surprises" be a vague CG trailer of a game they've barely started making, with no release date or even window attached, so they can keep that lol

Microsoft would have a huge advantage in putting their first party games on the service...if first party games ever actually came out. Game Pass is a solid value right now, but if Microsoft doesn't figure out how to get quality exclusive content (not just franchises they've purchased, games built FOR the Xbox series) onto the service in a timely manner, Sony will overtake them. They will find out that people are perfectly fine with buying good games when they come out.

I mean...what would you EXPECT them to say?
"Hey how's the game coming along?"
"Complete tire fire, thanks for asking!"

you know, I was just about to say I didn't understand why we were even talking about a perfectly fun game that came out almost ten months ago, but then I realized that almost nothing has come out SINCE then.in fact, if you aren't into Elden Ring, nothing big HAS come out since then. might that not be the real problem? maybe?

This was just a dumb thing to tweet. Why? Because what's going to happen if this game gets delayed, even a little.....?

@Snake_V5 I just don't think it's coming at this point. I would LOVE to be wrong, but I think Sony locked that and probably any new FFs up for the foreseeable future.

@RadioHedgeFund it would be if Microsoft were to make COD exclusive. Tons of people are into it (not me), and a large number of them would buy Xboxes to play it.

The thing is, Microsoft as a corporation is probably pretty happy just selling the game to everyone they can and taking in the profits...

As I understand it, COD is routinely Playstations #1 seller, so yes I would imagine that it IS a big deal. Phil should have used it as leverage to get games like FF7 Remake (which I don't believe will ever make it to xbox). Now I expect the higher ups at Microsoft to reconsider making COD exclusive...

I wish they wouldn't even tell us about stuff until it was nearly done. For all we know whatever this is won't drop until 2026 lol

The gameplay looks fun enough, derived from the Arkham games. The voice acting though.....why is most voice acting in games STILL so bad?

i know that he meant this as a compliment, but is sometimes my complaint about Game Pass: it seems like just like "here's a whole BUTTLOAD of stuff! bound to be something in there that you'll like, probably, we guess!" instead of a more considered, carefully curated game library. especially when it sometimes feels like Sony effortlessly snaps up the REALLY good stuff as exclusive.

@Dezzy70 Xbox has ANNOUNCED plenty of games. the problem is at the studio level. they continue to be AMAZINGLY inept at actually getting games over the finish line. in 2 years we're talking really about 2 games, one of which was delayed a year lol. i don't know who's responsible for it, so i won't blame anyone but they're pretty close to being out of time with me...

i can't for the life of me remember the title of the game, but it was made by Sega, and was basically a top-down shooter where you were in a truck/tank hybrid, and the game was basically a wink at the 80's GI Joe era. it was a great game, but damn if i can remember what it was called lol. i also loved Bastion, Castle Crashers and the Dishwasher...

the easiest, most sensible, most requested, most obvious solution would be to do Titanfall 3.

looks really good, but....how is it possible that voice acting in games isn't routinely better? graphics have improved one hundredfold over the years, animations are better, and games are more immersive and complex.

most voice acting still just sounds like a person reading from a script. it's weird.

i just...i don't feel like we needed another one of these. Sega has a MOUNTAIN of franchises they could have had these people work on. this looks like it was conceived in a marketing meeting.

@Rmg0731 they've had PLENTY of time to simply say, it's never coming, they've known for some time that it wasn't coming. Leaving everyone wondering was a ***** thing to do. This game is a consolation prize. "Hey Sony bought us off, but we still want your money, so here's this game. It KINDA looks like remake, doesn't it?" Lol

there's a middle ground, in my opinion: when you initially show a game, a CG trailer is fine. once the game has been announced, i'd prefer to see gameplay. CG trailers can be very exciting when first announcing a title.

the polls after these events are pretty pointless. you KNOW there were Playstation fans going out of their way to say the event sucked, and the same will happen when Sony has their next big event. Microsoft showed off lots of gameplay, announced a lot of games for the next year, etc. yea maybe whatever game you may have wanted wasn't there, but what's the big deal?

@StylesT even before they showed the gameplay, you knew there would be people like "It LoOkS tErRiBlE". i'm personally super excited, and i understand why it had to be delayed (the framerates didn't seem quite steady).

Persona 5 MIGHT be the best jrpg I've ever played. I'm 100% going to replay it, and I've heard P4 Golden is right up there with it, so this is amazing. If FF7 is finally announced, that will be the icing...

@Royalblues it just looks like most companies are moving on, 3 years into the generation is about right. I have a switch, and I can tell you there are a lot of games on there that are there just because they "got it to run", but that run like crap lol

This is almost a non-story, because Sony's business model is so much different than Microsoft's. Sony has built a pretty traditional games business. Microsoft is obviously doing something very different.

I'm still on the fence about the gameplay, especially since they seem to be trying not to show too much of it. Don't know if that's a bad sign or if they're trying to be mysterious lol

it's the original Xbox for me. It was known mostly as that thing you played Halo on, but the original Xbox represents a time when Microsoft was actually really proactive about getting games. Crimson Skies, Panzer Dragoon Orta, NFL Fever, MechAssault, KOTOR, Jade Empire, RalliSport Challenge, etc. this was probably the most aggressive Xbox has ever been about building a portfolio of franchises, and i LOVED my OG Xbox.
