Re: Talking Point: In Your Opinion, What Made The Xbox 360 Era So Incredible?

armondo36

It was the ONE generation where Microsoft did a decent job of releasing software on time and in a reasonably good state. It helped that Sony dropped the ball early on, but this was the one truly consistent generation of Xbox.

In true Microsoft fashion they completely obliterated every drop of goodwill they worked so hard for literally at the ANNOUNCEMENT of their follow up system, but that's neither here nor there lol

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Producer Defends Lack Of Xbox Series X|S Release

armondo36

My only problem with this is their continued refusal to simply state whether or not it's ever coming to Xbox. We shouldn't have to decipher statements and infer intent. This is a simple yes or no question that they (and Phil Spencer for some reason) refuse to answer directly, and it's gotten BEYOND annoying. That and the tone deaf way Microsoft keeps letting Square show up to showcases to announce things no one asked for lol

Re: First Two Xbox Exclusives Coming To 'Rival Consoles' Reportedly Revealed

armondo36

My two cents:

When Microsoft announced Game Pass, a lot of people laughed and said it would fail. A lot of other people, myself included, said that Sony would stand by and wait, and if the service made money Sony would have their own service soon. Not only did they, but Nintendo even had their version as well.

It's the same here. Not to disappoint the console warriors but if and more than likely WHEN Microsoft starts raking in the money by ignoring the ridiculous exclusive idea, Sony will eventually do the same. Sure, at first Sony will puff their chests out and probably make their summer showcase an "Only on Playstation" fest, but Sony likes money too, and they would LOVE to sell Spider-Man to everyone who wants to buy it. Exclusivity is archaic, anti-consumer nonsense that ONLY gamers put up with or promote, and it's far past time for it to end. Microsoft is taking a calculated risk here, but they aren't wrong.

Re: Immortals Of Aveum Cost $125M And Was An 'Awful Idea' In Today's Market, Says Former Dev

armondo36

I'm not going to pretend that I know how much a game should cost to make, but I WILL say that anytime you see a game set in a version of the past, or a fantasy realm and the dialog is lazily modern English, you're in trouble lol. It also doesn't help when despite the trappings at the end of the day, the game is just a shooter. It had a few good ideas, but this was a prime example of a half-baked game.

Re: Xbox Indie Developer Shares His Concerns Following This Week's Rumours

armondo36

This might be...

....and this is saying a LOT...

...but this might end up being the dumbest thing they've ever done. And this is a company who thought it was a good idea to try to ban sharing games.

And tried to force us to own a kinect, which the audience CLEARLY didn't want.

And tried to casually introduce DRM to their console as if it was GOOD news.

And stopped greenlighting games for over a year.

And passed on buying Insomniac.

And thought they could buy Nintendo.

And made their 2014 E3 video game conference about TV functionality instead of video games.

This might end up being THE dumbest thing.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Think Xbox Will Ever Stop Making Consoles?

armondo36

There will be an xbox after the Series x/s, but after that (up to 15 years from now), the market will be massively different. Gaming will be largely digital, something you do through your phone, tv or computer. "Xbox" will essentially be an app, as will Playstation and Nintendo (actually Nintendo is so stubborn they may be still making Switch 3 lol)

Re: Poll: Four Months Later, Are You Still Playing Starfield?

armondo36

In some ways, Starfield is the epitome of what's wrong with open world games: the focus seemed much more on the game being huge than on it being compelling. It's a fun playthrough but there's too much bloat, and too many things thay don't make sense which breaks immersion for me.

Re: Bethesda Has Started Responding To Negative User Reviews Of Starfield

armondo36

I played Starfield for about 40 hours all told. I had a good time, but I'm fairly certain I'm not going back for a while. Bethesda made a huge mistake by going with the "1000 planets" thing. The game should have taken place across like...3 planets densely packed with things to do. They seemed to go with 1000 because it sounds like a big impressive number, but it made the game too thin. A mile wide but an inch deep as they say. I love Bethesda...but I got bored.

Re: Xbox Reiterates It Will Have Stronger Relations With Square Enix Going Forward

armondo36

This is the biggest nothing burger ever.
If we're still not getting FF7 Remake, we don't CARE.
If we're still never getting FF 16 we don't care. What does this even mean? That in 5-7 years when FF 17 comes, we MIGHT see it on Xbox?? Phil REALLY stood on that stage, knowing that xbox fans want those games, to tell us that FF 14 was coming? Knowing the other games weren't coming?
Star Ocean 2 remake? No?
This whole thing is meaningless!

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts On 'Lies Of P' So Far?

armondo36

@Romans12 I'm at around a 7 as well. The controls are off, which isn't a huge problem until like you said the bosses. Too many times I'll push a button once and P attacks an extra time, leaving you open to attack. I almost never feel like From software games are unfair, just hard. This game often feels unfair. Needs a patch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts On 'Lies Of P' So Far?

armondo36

@OldGamer999 I just don't understand why these games limit their appeal by refusing to include difficulty options. Not only for us old folks but for people who don't have time to fight each boss 40 times. I've been saying for years that someone is going to make a great soulslike, add a difficulty option, then sell an enormous number of copies lol

Re: Here's What The Critics Think Of Mortal Kombat 1 So Far

armondo36

Screen Rant gave it a 7 partially because it doesn't introduce a whole new cast of characters...

....what fighting game do you know of, or have EVER heard of, that does that? That's a good illustration of why you shouldn't put so much stock in reviews. There's always one or two who give a lower or higher score just to draw traffic.
