Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Game Awards 2022?

armondo36

@awp69 I'm not sure i believe there's a "great lineup" coming anymore. I assume they'll get Starfield over the goal line, and i think Forza will release, but at this point i could easily see them getting nothing else out except a bunch of excuses and promises. Terrible, nothing ever changes.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Game Awards 2022?

Every time that I think Microsoft is an incredibly unproductive gaming company, they top themselves.
They showed...absolutely nothing. NOTHING. Think about this: Microsoft is allegedly releasing a BUNCH of games in 2023. Do you believe that now? Couldn't they put a SINGLE TRAILER together? They didn't even have the courtesy to TELL us they didn't do anything. I'm flabbergasted, to be honest. Phil Spencer was in the audience! NOTHING?! I'm actually really interested to hear the Xbox apologists explain this one. Every other announcement was something for PlayStation. Microsoft showed ZILCH. We STILL don't know when anything is coming, 3 YEARS after that famous sizzle reel. No Hellblade, no Forza, no Avowed. NOTHING. Incredible, that's all I can say.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Adamant Call Of Duty Will Remain On PlayStation 'Longer Term'

PART 2:

It gets even MORE interesting if you think about it. If you're Microsoft, why SHOULDN'T you keep games like COD, Diablo, Spyro, and many if not most of the IPs they own, multiplatform? They'll make a ton of money, while Sony is stuck playing the "console exclusives" game, and yes they'll sell more consoles and "win" the generation, while Microsoft will have to be satisfied with the enormous piles of money they'll make selling their games to anyone who wants to buy them. THAT will ultimately turn into pressure on Sony to do the same.

Because, and bear with me here, Corporations care more about making money than they do about winning an imaginary contest with another company.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Adamant Call Of Duty Will Remain On PlayStation 'Longer Term'

armondo36

At this point, I don't believe that this is about Call of Duty anymore. Sony hasn't had to compete in years, truly. Nintendo does its own thing, and Microsoft hasn't been in a position to push Sony since the 360. Now Microsoft threatens not only to own a lot of IPs but more importantly, they now have a high number of talented studios. It's not the IPs they'll own; it's the new ones that will spring up. By this generation's end, Microsoft will be able to produce the same number of AAA exclusives. Theoretically, they won't be able to dominate the market because no one else is making the kinds of games they do. That's what they're fighting, competition.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Chimes In On Sony's God Of War Ragnarok Launch

armondo36

Lol some of you guys sound like you're watching your favorite fighter get his brains beat out. "No this is all part of the strategy! He's letting the other guy tire himself out, you'll see!"
It's fine i guess, but this would be easier to accept if we were playing Starfield...or any of the multitude of games that Microsoft has promised but not delivered. 2 games. They have successfully released TWO games this generation, and one of THOSE was a year late. I love my xbox, but I'm not going to spend this generation applauding Sony for releasing games, while hoping Microsoft manages to put SOMETHING out.

Re: Take-Two CEO Says It 'Doesn't Make Sense' To Launch Day One With Xbox Game Pass

armondo36

@c1979h not male or break as in going out of business, more in terms of public confidence, which will affect Game Pass. You really think everything will be fine if they spend ANOTHER year not launching games, delaying this, cancelling that? They'd better start actually releasing games. They based their entire E3 presentation on games coming out in the next year, so they know it too. People will start getting fed up soon.

Re: Take-Two CEO Says It 'Doesn't Make Sense' To Launch Day One With Xbox Game Pass

armondo36

Tale Two's business model is essentially to resell the same game to their gullible customers for $70 a pop, so I'm not sure they were the right people to ask about Game Pass in the first place. That being said, 2023 is likely to make or break Game Pass, and maybe the long term future of Xbox. If they don't (finally) manage to put some compelling first party content on the service, it's probably over. Yes i know they've announced a bunch of stuff, and to their credit nobody is better at announcing games than Microsoft, but I'm talking about DELIVERING games...

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Six-Month PS5 Exclusivity Window Confirmed By Sony

armondo36

@Tharsman and I tell people all the time (before they accuse me of being jealous, lol) that as good as those games are from Sony, they generally aren't for me. My gaming time is quite limited at this point of my life, so i simply can't get into games that rely so heavily on cutscenes and try so hard to be movies. i tend to lean heavily on games that just kind of get out of the way and let you play them. I remember when God of War came out in 2018, Conan O'Brien did a Clueless Gamer episode for it. There's a cutscene playing, and he turns to the camera and says, "I haven't touched a button in 45 minutes". He was exaggerating, of course, but only kind of. They're great games, but not my thing anymore.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Six-Month PS5 Exclusivity Window Confirmed By Sony

armondo36

At this point, I'm ok with this and FF7 Remake never coming. It's fine. What isn't ok, and what is just patently wrong, is Square refusing to simply SAY that they aren't coming. If Sony wrote some gigantic checks, fair enough, that's the business, but to refuse to openly state that the games aren't coming seems like an underhanded way to avoid making gamers angry by trying to give them hope that maybe someday...

Re: Deus Ex & Tomb Raider Developer Reportedly Working With Xbox On Fable

armondo36

Ok seriously, I'll be the one to ask I guess....

What have they actually gotten done with this game?

I'm starting to question whether ANY of the 700 games Microsoft announced in 2019 are actually being worked on, or if this is all just them trying to maximize game pass subscriptions (look at all these games we SWEAR we're working on!!) This game should be nearly done and they're still bringing in support studios? Why are they SO bad at delivering games? It legitimately doesn't make sense at this point. Sony and Nintendo manage to get games out all the time comparatively. 2023 better be STUFFED with games or something is seriously wrong...

Re: Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Star Ocean: The Divine Force

armondo36

The gameplay is really fun, the plot is pretty standard but interesting....

But those graphics. YUCK.

I know graphics aren't everything and what have you, but I really hope there's some kind of next-gen update or something, because between the muddy, blurry textures, the weird plastic doll characters, and the atrocious lighting, this game is FUGLY in some places. I'll buy it when it's around 30 bucks because it IS fun, but seriously lol

Re: PlayStation Boss Heavily Criticises Xbox For 'Inadquate' Call Of Duty Offer

armondo36

@Titntin My point, which you seem to have somehow missed entirely, is that Sony seems to get away with not innovating much IN their sequels. The games are still good, absolutely, but the same way reviewers and fans KILL Ubisoft for not changing much game to game, they also point out that games like Horizon and R&C are just another in the series. I LOVE Ratchet and Clank, but come on, that last 4or 5 of them have essentially been the same game. It's just weird that they never get called out on it.
