I really luxe Crash 4, but I'm with you, it's almost to the point where you're not sure WHY they decided to make it so hard. It definitely feels like a deliberate choice, but I don't know if it was the best one. If you like platformers (I do), you'll have fun if you're patient, because yes it's DIFFICULT lol

Part of the reason for the delay is to justify the price. 80 bux is likely but don't be shocked if it's 90. They want to wait and see how consumers respond to the prices from Nintendo and Microsoft.

This game is incredible. The combat isn't any more repetitive than your average 3rd person action game, but the story is compelling and the performances are better than 90% of most games. The dialog is extremely well-written. This is going to be a cult classic, and I sincerely hope it gets a ps5 port so it can make some money lol. I loved it

Money talks. Over the next couple of years, Microsoft is going to make ENORMOUS profits from their new strategy, and 3rd party publishers will become more and more unwilling to restrict their games to one box. Sony will follow the money, but they'll do it at their own pace.

I expect them to take a Sony approach. The disc drive will either be sold separately, or part of a more expensive bundle. Or both lol

@Jenkinss and Sega almost certainly makes more profit now than when they were trying to make consoles.

It will be pretty great i think. Microsoft will bend over backwards to impress the Playstation audience, so it will probably be better than halo has been in a long time...

This is a weird one for me because I never really care about the narrative in Bethesdas other games, I just went out adventuring in the world. It's very much the opposite in Starfield. I found the adventuring to be EXTREMELY boring but I really enjoyed most of the main campaign.

I enjoyed HellBlade, but it mostly made me wish there was more.. game...in it. It's an incredible universe but the gameplay is by FAR the weakest element (note that it wasn't nominated for any gameplay-related awards). With a varied combat system and better puzzles you'd have something arguably better than the new God of War games. It's fine as is, like I said i enjoyed it, but it could be much more.

Oddly, the killer apps might be on competing platforms.

Halo VR would sell great, but imagine...

Mario Kart VR. Sony's reluctance to invest in 1st person games is a small part of the problem.

I'm actually fine with this. For one thing, i expected it (what's a big xbox release without at least ONE delay?), and Secondly, for once there seems to be a lot of games releasing this year. Finally, I'm fairly certain this delay is more about GTA 6 than anything, so I get it. I wouldn't release my game anywhere NEAR that game.

I certainly wouldn't launch anywhere near GTA 6, but it's probably fine because Playground could probably get away with pushing Fable back to this time next year. This looks like a year where we will have tons of games to play.

@Medic_alert all 3 companies are moving towards a digital future. And if Microsoft is as successful as they probably will be, Sony will be right behind them.

This is going to be very interesting. If everyone can get past gasp! Microsoft putting their games on other platforms, we'll be dealing with a pretty financially healthy Xbox, and a publisher in Microsoft who will carry a lot of weight in the industry.

I think, depending on the financials, that next generation will probably be the last xbox console. It won't be as bad as it sounds, in ten years streaming will probably be almost indistinguishable from native, so Xbox will essentially be a storefront you play from. Sony will probably be motivated to make a Playstation 7, but we're officially at a point where the two companies have very different business models.

This is the beginning of something not the end. Microsoft is likely to see huge profits from this new direction, Sony is already putting their biggest games on PC, and Nintendo is Nintendo (although I expect them to come up with their own way of doing something similar).

The days of games being locked on one plastic box are ending. It's a good thing.

I think part of the reason is that Microsoft has known for a very long time that the future of the brand was in that store.

Its an intriguing story but I can't help but be wary, because Microsoft has under-delivered so many times, plus Compulsion doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation lol. But I really want this to be great.

@Prestige-worldwide yes, the same reason why Sony ports to PC: there are more PC users. But don't be surprised if Sony does eventually port to Xbox. Why NOT take another million sales on your biggest games?

Let's do the economics:

Forza is going to drop onto a Playstation that is probably at least 2 years away from releasing a new Gran Turismo. It is going to make a mountain of money. Later, the MCC is going to release onto a Playstation that has nothing to compare to it except for....COD, which Microsoft also owns. A second mountain of money. Third, really.
This will happen again with Gears. Microsoft is going to make BILLIONS of dollars with this strategy. Sony is already doing this with PC, but they aren't likely to make as much money as Microsoft (thus their recent pivot towards live service).

Sony is selling more plastic boxes, but they and Microsoft both know that the economics of the industry have changed.

A lot of people are pretending that Microsoft is alone here, but Sony is doing pretty much the same thing, sending many of their own games to PC. if Microsoft makes a lot of money this way (hint: Microsoft is going to make a LOT of money this way), Sony will follow suit. No? Why did the most recent Horizon game also launch on Switch? That was Sony's toe in the water. This is the way forward.

And then in 2 months they'll announce the game. Then in 1 year there will be a trailer, and then in 4 years there will be a delay, and in 6 years a new creative director, then in 8 years a gameplay trailer. In 9 years a second delay, and 11 years the game will release. 7/10 on metacritic.

They REALLY shouldn't. Microsoft needs to establish WHY anyone should buy their next machine, especially since people aren't buying their current ones.

On a related note, this might be the first generation ever where the full capabilities of the current machines are never reached before the generation ends. Its weird...

I've owned every xbox console, but i honestly can't think of a reason to buy the next one. I say this all the time....but we didn't ask for any of this. Didn't ask for Xbox games on other platforms, or $70 billion acquisitions, we didn't even ask for Game Pass. We wanted Microsoft to make good, compelling games that come out in good shape and on time. That's it. And they haven't come close to delivering that. They're now spending who knows how much on their next machine, a machine that MIGHT sell 20 million units because who has faith in xbox at this point? If they care about the brand at all (they don't) it's a good idea to dump Phil and change direction...

As long as xbox is profitable, we don't have to worry too much about it going away. That's good news. People who still see the ONLY marker of a platform's success as how many plastic boxes it sells compared to another manufacturer will be upset, but they'll be ok.
