Well put it this way, Microsoft could not give many more reasons not to buy an Xbox console.

I think they would like Xbox consoles and gamepass as GPU to disappear, but I think it’s hard for them to move out totally.

Having said that it’s Xbox studios and game pass ultimate that have been the best this year so far.

This generation overall has been the most underwhelming and price increasing generation and will probably also be remembered for the unexciting generation overall, compared to the last generation, also because the big old shows don’t happen now and communication in general seems more corporate.

This goes for all three of them, don’t get wrong even the switch 2 release seems lacklustre for the rest of 2025 when it comes to big AAA new Nintendo studio games. Underwhelming after an 8 year wait.

The mediocre generation continues.

I think it’s more Sony keeping more relevant in Europe, don’t forget PS5 is down 5 million over the PS4 in Europe same time line.

It’s USA and the smaller others that bring that number back up to PS4 levels.

Also Sony could have been thinking about the Switch 2 launch and making the PS5 still focused at a lower price than the switch 2.

I would like to know is Sony still make a profit at the lower price point of the PS5s. If so they must making a good profit at the normal price.

As for Xbox, I don’t think it matters, they seem to be doing their own thing their way, if we all agree or not.

I guess make the most GPU whilst it lasts as it is and at the current price.

I don’t think it’s a workable model as it is with the number of subscriptions. If it had at least treble then maybe, bust going publisher at least brings in some more money to help support GPU as it is.

Xbox own studios still need that amazing killer app subscription game. It has been great this year but they still haven’t delivered a game that gets the gamers and general public going I MUST HAVE. You now TOTK, Astro Bot etc.

It’s all great but not Amazing.

The problem with Xbox is their big special thing Gamepass did not really take off.

Nintendo and Sony have their own special thing that attracts a big console audience, it’s up to the buying public that seem to like them.

Even with Xbox game pass as its own entity really has not taken off

As a standard home console like the series x yes.
But you carry on with your head in the corporate Xbox sand.

Absolutely the right decision the thing would have sold nothing and been a disaster.

Now let’s see if we get a real Xbox home console or not.

It seems the only thing Xbox are getting good at is publishing.

The best dash board is about to get a little up date when it releases on Switch 2.

It’s such a simple and easy dash board.
Just the games.

Will be interesting to see how many it sells over in PS world.
I would have never purchased the game, I played on GPU for a bit.

I wouldn’t have bought COD last year but played the campaign on GPU and enjoyed.

I’m lucky I have GPU until March 2027 at the old rate so I guess that helps.

It’s a weird one really.
I thought once this deal went through along with the earlier zenimax deal Microsoft were going to come out fighting with big new promotions for Xbox consoles and game pass etc and have many many exclusives, apart from COD of course.
Looking back I think what I thought was never Microsoft’s intentions, I think they strung us Xbox console folk along and still are a bit.
And Microsoft always knew if the deal went through they were definitely going the publisher route.
When the deal buyout started Microsoft already knew Xbox consoles and GP was not selling well and being a publisher was already their plan.

Basically Microsoft bought ABK to help go publisher and already new years ago that was their route.

You should hopefully get a good PS5 Pro uptick as well.

Fair play to them, at it still with this game.
I guess at some point with these updates it means it’s heading to PS.

It’s all to late for me to get back in the game, even after the moon buggy update etc.

To me maybe there should be how many players like this article, because that will include subscriptions etc.

But there should also be total sales as in purchased by physical and digital on all platforms.
And even nowadays that’s is shrouded in mystery.
The only games we seem to get good accurate sales numbers purchased for are ones that do very well.
Maybe like a Mario Kart or GTA 5.
Lots of other games seem to hide away from it, I wonder why 🤣

Just finished chapter 4 so early days yet.
For me not as good as Doom Eternal.
Preferred the fast pace the jumping the quickness of Doom Eternal, the bang and slam and tear felt quicker and smoother.

Also what’s with the big robots and flying, waste on me.
So far 7.5/10 for Doom Ages
9/10 Doom Eternal

PS is earning well and good for them.
Don’t make them the truly amazing AAA campaign making gaming studio company they used to be in my favourite PS4 era and also the start of the PS5 era.
But they do love a remaster 🤣🤣🤣

Totally agree Xbox never knew really the series consoles and game pass how to PR and advertise it and focus on games with it.

To me now they definitely have the games and studios, but have taken a different route.

I would have love now a good console war with Sony and Xbox like in the xbox360 days.

Even if it kept the very complacent Sony at their best, which they are definitely not nowadays and the same goes for Nintendo, they are getting very complacent and money grabbing as well.

Have this and never got that far into it.
If they bring 60fps and also jogging in camps which I think is still slow walking?
That would be great.

I just don’t get all the people when it comes to series x and the great value of game pass ultimate.
Something didn’t go right along the way as that combination should fly off the shelves.

Anyway may it continue into next generation and don’t forget to tell Xbox, next generation Xbox must have quick resume. 😊

Please Xbox make sure it has VRR in docked mode.
Unlike the lame brains cost cutting at Nintendo that just apologised for not having VRR on switch 2 when docked.

By far you guys n girls and Pure Xbox across all three sites is simply the best community.

Absolutely the series x is the best console
Mainly because of form factor and quick resume and the controller
And of course game pass ultimate.

First two years of PS5 it was my most played console in hours out of all three consoles.

The third year switch was first then series x second then PS5 third

The fourth year Xbox first, switch second, PS5 third.

This year so far 2025
Xbox first easy.
Now we have the switch 2 next month, so the rest of the year will be interesting.

All from hours played data we get from the end of year data.

My point Xbox has grown over the years since release in the right direction games wise the PS5 has not.

My point is not about PS4 third party games in Switch 2.

It’s will Nintendos own studios produce a game to the graphical standing of HFW on PS4 like Sony studios did. And I don’t think they will.

But I hope I’m wrong, would love see and play Zelda in its own 3d world style at the graphical level set of HFW on PS4.

Yep that is why I have the Switch 2 MKW bundle and pro controller preordered.
Dam Nintendo making me buy their over priced console and controller just to play their games.

I so wish there was one console that played every single companies games.

I still don’t think we will see Nintendos own studios release a game say of Horizon Forbidden West overall graphical quality like on the PS4.
It’s that handheld 1.7 tflop that will hold it back, lowest common denominator, I think

Really was this required.
There is a big gap between a switch 2 and series x.
Switch 2 handheld is only 1.7 tflops and that is what a developer has to programme to.
It’s a tiny bit of power really.
It’s a shame game chat on switch 2 that is a system available feature takes up some memory and resource, that would have better used in games.
Only a small minority will really use game chat in the end, totally wasted on me, would rather that resource get used on games.

It’s strange really as it really is only Nintendo big AAA exclusives that the switch and switch 2 have any use for.
If you really just only own a switch or switch 2 you are really missing out on some great new third party games, especially running at top performance.

I don’t think worldwide Switch 2 will hit the dizzy sales of switch. The world has changed a lot since then. It will do well but not 152 plus million well.
Switch 2 should have released about 2022 not 2025 as is weak for 2025.
Nintendo already said the Switch 2 chip design was done in 2021, that sounds so old.
And I think this was the Switch Pro originally.

I’m slowly beginning to believe along with Microsoft’s actions that publishing is really were the clever money is and this making consoles is sort of becoming a means to an end.

Absolutely not sure why we get all this fuss.
It’s going digital slowly and that’s is it.

I’m have been enjoying all digital for probably ten years now in music, movies and games.

I think it’s all too late even with Nintendo going for game cards for some games.

It’s so easy for on GPU I have nothing to worry about, it’s a digital future on all platforms at some point.

I’m so lucky been with the same company all my working live. 39 years and counting and wow have they liked after me.

Unfortunately it is happening in a lot of industries.
Nissan car manufacturers announced 11,000 job cuts today as well.

Not totally sure what is going on, but poor people losing their jobs. So sad.

Day one on launch day have MKW bundle and pro controller pre-ordered.

You can beat a bit of Nintendo AAA from their in house studios.

What a console, what an Xbox generation that really was, unfortunately no longer to be.

Even remember when they announced the xbox360 slim at E3 and they said you can now buy it by the end of the week and everyone at the show got one that day.

What style, character, charisma Xbox had back in those days.

Gears of war 3, just had that more grit and flashiness for me.

Of course it could be better on Pro.
Thing is I wrote an article on GTA6 if that is the pinnacle of what a PS5 and Pro and series x can do and it’s amazing and uses all the power of those consoles it shows one thing.
It’s not about console power so much this generation, yes it makes somethings slightly easier to do and better.
But when you then look at all other games released before and probably after that are not as good as GTA6.
Unfortunately more this current generation than any other It’s all about TIME and COST the developers or studio have.
It’s a shame because what that is saying is other games could be as good or maybe even better than GTA6 but the studios do not have the time or cost to do so.
That’s is such a terrible shame for all those other games.
This is definitely the time and cost generation in this 2025 generation.

Still at Avowed going for 100% on the final main area now just started.
