Here's A Breakdown Of All The New Prices For Xbox Game Pass As Of October 2025

Almost €30 a month for Ultimate? I'd prefer to just buy a game outright at that price. Absolutely insane.

According to the Microsoft website I’m currently paying 12,99€ per month for GPU. If the list above is correct, then I’ll either pay double or get Premium for the same amount.

Looking at the plan picker linked above my statement is correct, GPU more than doubles in price for me.

To be clear and fair, in the subscription area (where it shows the next billing date) it doesn’t show a new price yet, so let’s see how it and when it’ll affect how much I would have to pay for GPU.

It’s all going to depend on the quality of the games. MS is basically committing to at least six brand new games a month. That’s a lot of new games. I’m sure most will be indies.

In any case, I’m set for a while with GP that I have stacked so I’ll enjoy it while I can and see how things shake out later down the line.

Yes, however, Game Pass is profitable. So profitable that it needs to drastically increase how much it costs to have...! Yeah, right...

Still, when Microsoft release the the PCBox, we can all look forward to having PC Game Pass instead, which of course will probably cost an awful lot more as soon as the PCBox releases.

I wonder who does the accounting at Microsoft? Either the accountants cannot count, thus Game Pass was not paying its way, and not profitable, and that is why the subscriptions are going up by so much, or Microsoft are plain greedy. It's got to be one of the two...

In Europe, we have always had figures that are slightly higher or similar to those in the US. Applying a 1:1 conversion rate from dollars to euros, it was something we had accepted, whether fair or not,, but lately it is the US that is seeing high numbers. The Xbox Ally X, for example, costs “only” €899 here.

I’m currently fully paid until March 2027.
Then god only knows how much game pass ultimate will be.
Maybe and probably the time to leave then and of course depending on Xbox next console hybrid thing.

But worried that the 12 month Essential (formerly Core) codes will be going away, there seems to be no mention of that? Will we still be able to buy annual codes from third party retailers as we can now? If not than that’s a colossal price jump at £7/month

@OldGamer999 yeah mine lasts until early March ‘26 and I’m definitely downgrading to the Essential tier after that with these price rises. Oh well was good while it lasted!

I'll pay for a month when Ninja Gaiden 4 releases to play that, and play The Outer Worlds 2 too.

I am fortunate in three respects, firstly, I barely use Game Pass at all. I have literally only played one game on Game Pass this year, and that was Expedition 33, which I only played on Game Pass because I was unable to get my hands on the Collector's Edition, which I have now managed to acquire. Thus, if I cease my subscription, I won't really miss it.

The second reason I am fortunate is that I have my subscription stacked until June 2027, which means that I will probably have time to work out how Microsoft intend to approach Game Pass on the PCBox. If I am able to subscribe to PC Game Pass on it, at the substantially lesser price, because we do not need to pay for access to online (as is the case with PC gaming), then I may continue to subscribe, but probably won't.

The third reason I am fortunate is that I tend to buy all the games I play, indeed I have just bought the Premium Edition of Outer Worlds 2, so in all honesty I don't get good value from Game Pass, I literally only use it to play Gears 5 Horde every weekend with my mate, and if I really wanted to, I could play via my gaming PC.

Anyway, the up and down of it is that I doubt I'll be sticking with Game Pass post June 2027...

At first I read that as California had its own pricing tier lol. Wouldn't surprise me (it is where I am).

I'm dropping Ultimate and going down to Premium. £23 a month? Not a CHANCE. And I might even just drop down to Core next month if I find premium isn't even worth it

Hopefully they get to the point where the add-ons are optional increases instead of lumped into tiers. Base amount $9.99, day 1 xbox games +$4.99, Cloud gaming +$2.99, fornite +$2.99, ea play +$2.99, etc. Give us a checklist to build our own tiers.

Ultimate seems like a good value on paper but there has to be very few people that would want every one of the included perks. I dont know who ultimate is for anymore. Don't people who play fortnite enough to want the subscription only play fortnite, why would they want the rest of ultimate?

Ultimate was perfect for me at $20 but they added two services I dont want and it pushed the price to something I no longer want to pay. Im switching to premium for now but might just go with pc gamepass and say bon voyage to console life all together. At least with pc gamepass I can get day 1 releases.

This has to be the most unappealing all 3 consoles have ever been for me and all for very different reasons.

Fortnite Crew will be included with Ultimate starting in November though, so thats a bit of a value add.

Oh my … $34 in Canada? With my backlog and those prices it is going to be pretty easy to drop it…

Well, this was unexpected and quite a sh*ty move.
I better start looking at deals on Loaded (CD Keys) for GamePass Ultimate, because even though I love the service it's just no way I'm paying £23 monthly..

If anyone is interested (UK) sites like CDKeys/Loaded and Shopto are selling 3 month GPU subscription for around £33 (compared with £23 per month) Be warned though, they are selling like hot cakes for obvious reasons.

$120 a year for Essential - required to play games like CoD, Forza, Halo, Grounded etc or $360 a year and don't pay for Day 1 releases. Seems quite a MASSIVE hike for very little added benefits compared to before - and for PC a MASSIVE nerf and Price Hike.

It seems such a wrong time with MS about to release their own Handheld PC with Asus - that would be a great product to sell Subscriptions to - along with all the other new PC's and cloud enabled devices coming to the market.

For $70, I can buy CoD on Xbox but would need to pay $120 a year to play it on Console but I would get the Windows PC version with it or pay $360 for GPU, but I could also just pay $70 on Steam and play it indefinitely on my Laptop or Handheld.

So with their Xbox Ally, what is the incentive for PC gamers to pay $30 for Day 1 releases? Premium seems pointless as you have so many cheap and Free games on PC anyway.

This is disappointing. 4 years straight I subscribed to Game Pass. In the last 6 months I've had it off and on. There's so many great games coming out I used it less and less. I was on the fence about buying a year of it and this helped me decide. That's just too damn much money for a monthly subscription to a platform porting their exclusives to other platforms.

I always liked the Xbox platform but they are giving me more and more reasons to leave it behind.

GPU is a tad bit pricy for what we're getting. Sure, the boost of Ubi+ is nice, but the real question will be whether we get a fairly decent dump of games month by month.

Essential is rising the price of Core in France! What about the people who ONLY wanna play online without giving a single damn about Game Pass? 8,99€ a month just to play Street Fighter 6 online or even Final Fantasy XIV (which ALREADY has its own sub)? That’s insane.

They've crapped the bed with this one. Too expensive, too convoluted. Going to have to give it a miss once my subscription runs out.

Gamepass was what had me in the Xbox ecosystem, so once I'm not using that then it'll be a jump over to PS for me to enjoy some of those exclusive games we hear so much about.

My gamepass subscription is cancelled 💪🏻 no interest in those price increases. Absolute greed!

@BacklogBrad Id like a piecemeal option to be honest. I cancelled my sub last month after having never not been subbed to an xbox service since the OG live launched in the early 00s.

This update just reinforces my decision. I have 0 interest in EA play, UBI+, or especially fortnite. so why would I pay more for these inclusions?

Canadian here, just ridiculous I had ultimate but will now go for premium. I don't need these Ubisoft games anyway. Stupid move from Microsoft.

The final straw for me with Xbox.

And now I will list the amount I will be paying Microsoft - $0.00 monthly. Well Xbox, it's been a long strange trip, from 2001 to 2025. Some good times and a whole lot of rocky years. I'm done. The Series X is my last console from Microsoft. There have been far too many stupid decisions from Microsoft within the last few years. I'm exercising my right to vote with my wallet.

Looks like my subscription will run out in around 18 months at this rate unless they drop the new extras that I don't want. Feel like I, and many others judging by the comments, will be subsidising the people who take advantage of these new extras. I think they will lose more subscribers at this price than they will gain in revenue.

There is no question that the higher monthly fee is going to alienate many. It reaches the point that why not wait a bit & buy your games at a discount & own "forever". Heck, ok so for example they added Hogwarts Legacy to GPU, but I can buy that on CD keys for like half the cost of the new monthly GPU subscription fee. So essentially I can buy like 1-2 vintage Hogwarts Legacy type games/mo for the cost of a monthly GPU sub. Plus I'm obviously going to be selective in what I buy & buy games I like. Sure there is a huge volume of games available on GPU, but at the same time there are also a huge number of games I would not want to play on GPU.

Although I must say that I should not complain... 2yrs of Gold tier to GPU conversion for $1, then years of rewards for free GPU. So I can't complain, but if you are paying face value, GPU really does not seem like good value.

If Microsoft had any sense, they'd:

1. Only put AAA, new releases on Game Pass from Xbox Studios and their subsidaries (and ensure those games are well-made, instead of hype-driven cash grabs).

2. Only put AAA games from third-party developers on Game Pass if the titles are older and thus less costly.

3. Prioritize good games from indie developers on Game Pass, including day-one titles, and make sure they're paid well enough (but not AAA game prices) to foster growth in the indie gaming community.

This would allow Game Pass to capture a larger segment of the gaming market by keeping subscription prices low and establish Xbox as the platform of choice for indie gaming, which would be much more profitable during the current trend of AAA collapse.

I'm definitely moving onto the Essential tier just to see what 50+ games I have available to play. I'm currently only playing Hades, Deep Rock & Bolatro at the minute, so hopefully they'll still be available. Besides, BF6 is out soon and I will be buying that so all other games may take a back seat for a while 😁

As a pensioner, this is a price hike I can't afford. Good bye Xbox. Hello Steam.

I definitely won’t be renewing, it would take a miracle.
Mine runs until March 2027.
So 2 main things.
What is the next Xbox and I want to be downloading full game native play, not this crap streaming.
Second they need to up their games by their studios, they need top quality AAA, BOTW, SMG2 level of game maybe once a year.
Not just good to really good games.

I have a Core sub (now Essesnial), for the rare occasions I actually turn on my former favourite current console brand. Is this increasing in price? If so does this mean that my sub will be cut short? Or will the rest of it play out for the number of months left? Just give me XB Live Gold for £40 per year like the old days for online play only, I don't care about any of the other inclusions.

Anyway, another nail in the XBOX coffin, so sad to see, I am an Xbox 'whale', I have had all the consoles and have thousands of games, well they started to scare me off some time ago and the news keeps on getting worse and worse.

Sad to think that Xbox had a place in my heart alongside Atari, Sinclair and Commodore. I guess they are also a legacy brand now too. Well, you can still buy new hardware from the other three companies right now (the Next is licensed, but you get me) and they aren't a rip off! So I guess a dead legacy brand, poor old Xbox has been killed by MS.

Retro, Switch 2 and low end PC gaming on my laptop are my current choices. MS are getting no more of my pennies.
