Re: Forza Horizon 5 Set To Overtake 2024's Game Of The Year With Over 3 Million Sales On PS5

OldGamer999

@Millionski
Yep I want another Xbox full home console whatever they call it. But my expectations are we are not getting one.
Series x is a fantastic console, form wise and features wise, quick resume my favourite feature of this generation. The best and only complete VRR console as well.
And the Xbox controller form factor is the best for me.

What I think we will get is a locked PC form factor with an Xbox badge playing PC versions of the games. That also keeps GPU alive still of course.
No I’m not a PC gamer but if I was, I would want the very best the most powerful and the Xbox badged PC will not be that.
So I’m not sure there is a market for this PC Xbox badged device.

The most annoying thing about it all is why don’t Xbox just come out and say what it is.
A full blown traditional Xbox home console or a PC with an Xbox badge.
That is all I ask of them.

Sony have told us we are getting a PS6
Nintendo have just released switch 2.

But no, the trillion dollar company just leave us hanging on a mixed thread. Disgusting really.

@Fiendish-Beaver
I think they should double down all big Microsoft AAA day one PS and switch 2 if suitable, maybe some back catalogue for switch 2.
Dump the Xbox console, really what is all that cost of development for, low console sales.

Give gamepass owners a fixed PC option with an Xbox badge for next generation.
Keep GPU going on PC etc.

Hang on is that not what they are doing. 🤣

Re: Former Xbox Dev Claims Turn 10's Forza Motorsport Team 'Is No More'

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
I think all companies rightly or wrongly really look at cost and what return on investment they are going to get.
Then as development time passes by, decide to keep the game developing or cut the game, relating to financial assessment.
It’s the same on the high street in the UK every month we hear of shop chain closing some or all of their high street stores in favour of better return on line or the shop is not making any money after rent and employee costs.
I think in gaming of course we get more attached rather than we do with a shop.

Re: Microsoft Planning To 'Restructure' Xbox Distribution In Central Europe, Says Report

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
Yep it is what they have started doing already with handheld and VR and I think that is what the next Xbox will be.
A PC with an xbox logo on it. Maybe with a few tweaks but it will be playing PC versions of games and not a dedicated Xbox console versions.
So it’s a PC simple as that and that then means Xbox has left the dedicated hardware console market. So no Xbox home console.

Re: Microsoft Planning To 'Restructure' Xbox Distribution In Central Europe, Says Report

OldGamer999

Let’s see what happens, but outside the USA and to a smaller degree the UK they are becoming a no console brand.
And next generation will be even worse, whatever thing they release.
It’s a slow burn of becoming a joint venture in hardware like the handheld and a publisher only.
I’m still surprised they are bothering anymore with hardware even if it actually is a PC and not a dedicated home console.
But life’s a mystery and definitely is at Xbox HQ.

Re: Xbox First-Party Handheld Plans 'Essentially Cancelled', Claims Report

OldGamer999

@Kaloudz
I don’t think it’s a death march. Just reality that an Xbox console running games specifically for that Xbox console won’t exist next generation.
It will run PC game versions and not specific Xbox console games going forward with new games. And also won’t be an upgradable PC.

Therefore it is not by definition an Xbox console, the only difference maybe it will run emulated old Xbox games.

It’s is not by definition an Xbox console like a PS5 or switch 2 where new games are made specifically and only to run on that console.

I then expect Xbox studios maybe to change name to Microsoft game studios or similar.

Now some people will like that then that is fine.

By by definition Xbox will no longer be in the pure home console market hardware wise anymore. It’s a PC.

Their studios will make games for PC, play anywhere, cloud streaming and for other pure home consoles like PS5 and 6 and switch 2 and 3.

Re: Xbox First-Party Handheld Plans 'Essentially Cancelled', Claims Report

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
No I won’t be buying the next Xbox console, unless there is a massive U turn by Xbox and we go back to the Xbox 360 days.

Which won’t happen so to answer your question no I won’t be, as there won’t be another Xbox true pure home console anyway.

I’m enjoying my Switch 2 at the moment which is getting the most play time right now.

Re: Xbox First-Party Handheld Plans 'Essentially Cancelled', Claims Report

OldGamer999

@Millionski
Yes the 1.5 half years ago stuff and rumours etc are really all coming true.

Game pass Ultimate really is the only draw towards series consoles now and as sales are showing us it definitely isn’t a big enough draw and what console owners want else series consoles would be selling like PS5 and switch or even switch 2 now.

Xbox consoles and the massive gamble in game pass has failed Xbox really, some say it started with the Xbox one and some with the series consoles would having no exclusives and a very poor first two years game wise.

Either way it’s all collapsed at Xbox base and I can’t really see them releasing a next pure home Xbox console.
It at best will be a PC with an Xbox button playing PC games and Steam etc, basically whatever PR rubbish that comes out of the suits months at Xbox.
It will be PC that you can’t upgrade but may give some good value for money.

As for GPU as it stands day one all Xbox studio games we will have to just wait and see.

Re: Xbox First-Party Handheld Plans 'Essentially Cancelled', Claims Report

OldGamer999

If the next Xbox so called home console is like the Rog handheld and not playing loaded xbox console games.

Then the next home console is not a home console. Just gonna be a PC really with an Xbox button.
That to me means they will have left the pure home console market.

Leaving Sony and Nintendo the remaining 2.

I wish Xbox would just come and say their true intentions home console wise.

We know Nintendos switch 2 and Sonys PS6 and PS6 pro 🤣.

Then again after the no Xbox handheld thing coming out now, I just can’t trust anything Xbox say.

Re: Talking Point: Switch 2 Owners, Should Xbox Embrace Nintendo's New System?

OldGamer999

@Kaloudz
And that is the potential future danger with Xbox and why their consoles sales are really dropping off more.
Like you said some games they publish to other consoles some they don’t.
Then there is the future of Xbox consoles and what was the Xbox handheld.

Yes they can do what they like it is their business, but I think they are creating a hanging on a thread for Xbox fans.

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Is Capcom's Next Horror Epic, Launches On Xbox In February 2026

OldGamer999

@Kaloudz
Yep the only big new AAA from the show I want. RE9 Feb 2026.

Now Xbox bring on a new AAA game or games on Sunday.
No disrespect even though I enjoyed not an Avowed and I don’t me gears reloaded remake.

A new big AAA mega game the best a game be like RE9 or TOTK or Halo in the old days or last of us 2. Something massive AAA looking so perfect it purrs. A 92 plus on meta, you get the idea.

Re: Xbox's First Switch 2 Release Skates Onto Hybrid Console Next Month

OldGamer999

@Titntin
It’s weird my VRR does not turn on, on my TV without the signal from the console.
But with switch 2 it is turned on, obviously I have no way of seeing if it’s working which it probably is not.
I’m guessing ALLM might be making the TV thinking VRR is there.

Either way it’s runs perfectly and 120hz mode is getting a signal to the TV along with HDR.

It’s basically an upgrade no different from say PS4 to PS5 and Xbox one to series x but obviously at different levels.

Re: Xbox Handheld: Everything We Know So Far, Including The Latest Rumours

OldGamer999

@Millionski
True but only MKW and DKB are Nintendo studios.
I hope they something else big for the end of the year from themselves, it has been 8 long years 🤣
It will sell loads that is for sure, funny how Sony put their showcase tonight, which I thought was a bit of bad taste really. Let Nintendo have their release, sort of respectfully like.

Re: Xbox Adds 20+ 'Stream Your Own Game' Titles To Kick Off New Month

OldGamer999

Perhaps someone get let me know this.

I have streamed both on PS5 and Series x.
Both first party games of similar requirements and quality.

My overall experience is the PS5 transfer to game was smoother.
Overall picture quality and movement etc better on PS5, even with Spider-Man 2.

So the thing is Xbox keep pushing this streaming games, but have an inferior product compared to Sony on PS5.

It just sounds so daft and wrong that way round when Xbox keep pushing game streaming, shouldn’t Xbox have the best and fastest quality service and gaming experience.

In UK really good internet at 200mb/sec.
