Re: Xbox Console Sales 'The Worst On Record' In 2025 As Microsoft Shifts Focus (UK)

OldGamer999

Well in the UK there is good stock and they still sell especially the series x, obviously not as many as should be sold in console world.

Either way even for the sake of competition for Sony it’s not good, as we know what a king complacent Sony are like and we are heading that way.

For me I have GPU cheaply stacked until March 2027 so Series x has its usefulness for me, especially with the hopeful 2026 release's.

So much potential the series x when it was first announced and some excitement and as a console form factor and things like quick resume and the controller layout still does it for me over the PS5 actually console wise.
And with some of Sony hiccups GASS and lack of those big first party AAA campaign games, still nothing new from ND, and all the studios owned by Microsoft now they really had an opportunity to take some advantage over Sony.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Would You Be Willing To Spend On The Next Xbox Console?

@Fiendish-Beaver
Yep, if it’s the amazing must have top quality in every way possible, Quality of build, simplicity with PC games etc etc etc.
Better than the PS6 by a far bit and must show it on the screen not just specification, then sod the price I will want one 🤣

But it won’t beat the PS6 on the screen visually once a Sony Studio produce a game for it.
I still cannot believe the fast travel loading times in HFW or GOY. Due to sensible tight design of the PS5 and Pro and the faster ssd of course and I guess clever programming.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Would You Be Willing To Spend On The Next Xbox Console?

OldGamer999

The concerning thing for me is, the other day I watched a PC chap showing settings and how to get the best out of FH5 and ACS on PC, yes it was a 5090 and looked amazing.
But he changed so many settings to get to this photo realistic visuals.

Are we going to messing around on this new PCXBOX to get the best from our games visually etc.

It was a lot of changes and did not include modding.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Would You Be Willing To Spend On The Next Xbox Console?

OldGamer999

Ok let’s go by the price of the series x and the PS5 Pro.
Power wise I’m saying it has to be above the Pro at 16tflops. But it’s not going to be at 5090 levels or top ultimate PC specs.

However it then gets complicated, because PC specifications can be different to console specs and consoles can punch above their specs due to dedicated operation systems and tuned single point hardware.

See the new PCXBOX and already rumoured could be more powerful in comparison to the PS6, but it’s a PC and will probably punch below the specs due PS6 being dedicated hardware and Sony studios developers making full use of the PS6.

Also Microsoft really will not see this as a mass market product, maybe only selling say 10 million lifetime.

Therefore the silly high price of £900 at least.
With the PS6 about £700 but the PS6 with Sony Studios producing the better games on the PS6 as exclusives.

Anyway with current rumours we are looking at November 2028, 3 full years away really at the earliest. Really does not even worth thinking about.

Re: Five Reasons Why 2026 Is One Of The Most Important Years In Xbox History

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
So on this subject if this generation and next.
I have to use PS5 as it is really only the best example

So over the whole of Christmas and up until today in the UK PS5 and Pro £560 has had so great deals.

So did they make a loss on these prices?
If not it shows they could make a smaller profit and still sell and survive etc.
I just have this in the back of my mind that these companies just want to max profits rather then sell consoles and make smaller profit.

Re: 50+ Games Added To Xbox 'Stream Your Own Game' To Finish Off 2025

OldGamer999

Not sure why Xbox seem to be going streaming mad.
I know one day in the future it might work.
I tried it again last night, series x 200mb/sec UK.

Demo to my daughter, what a shambles, graphics terrible, loads of lag, like 2 seconds on movement, tried 3 games all the same state.

Let’s focus on Xbox studios bringing us some big AAA quality games to download with all the trimmings picture and sound wise.

There is no way I want to go backwards in terms of quality visually, let’s go forward with more 4K and 60fps etc downloading.

Re: Here Are The Top 10 Xbox Games Of 2025 According To Metacritic

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
Sometimes I think why bother with this next gen hybrid console and totally focus money and resource on producing top quality AAA 90 plus games.
Let’s be honest they not going to sell to many next gen hybrid consoles.
So being a main publisher you make money and survive on the amount of games you sell.
And as we know there is plenty of competition for that market.
Sometime I think they are heading out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Re: Here Are The Top 10 Xbox Games Of 2025 According To Metacritic

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
I think also, well in the UK shops anyway like Primark and some others the amount of Nintendo clothing merch and a few PlayStation is there, but not Xbox compared to say 2 years ago.
Also things like pop Funko and plushie all Sony, there used to be Halo and gears years ago.

It’s like the other 2 create a momentum and general public and collectors exposure like a journey with them.

I really don’t know sometimes, I guess Xbox gave it up then the general public don’t want the merch then it’s a circle of dying out slowly.

Re: Here Are The Top 10 Xbox Games Of 2025 According To Metacritic

OldGamer999

Apologies if I’m wrong, but none of those games are by an Xbox studio.

If I’m correct do we all remember the old days.
When a Halo, gears of war and a Forza Horizon would be in there or another Xbox studios game with a 90 plus score. I know it depends on the year and hopefully in 2026 they can get maybe 2 90 plus AAA in that list.

And that has been the issue with Xbox studios, Sony and Nintendo may release less games from their studios per year especially now Xbox studios have grown.
But it’s the quality games they do release.
The Astro bot and Donkey Kong Bananza etc that ends up making them more memorable and longer lasting sales wise, giving general public awareness.

Re: 'Xbox Wrapped' Ditched For 2025 Due To Ambitious 2026 Plans, Suggests Report

OldGamer999

Well I know PS5 is 96 hours same as last year.
So PS5 will be third again.
Switch will be low but switch 2 will bring that up.
Probably to second.
So I’m thinking Xbox first.
So the same order as 2024 wrap up.

Like I always say Sony was first for 2 years of this generation then stopped making first party exclusives until Astro bot and then GOY this year.
But that’s not enough for me to get higher hours on PS5.
Goes to show how my playtime has changed over the last five years especially Sony first to third.

Re: Xbox's DOOM: The Dark Ages Wins Digital Foundry's 'Graphics Of The Year' Award

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
I do get your point.
I’m no super technical chap like DF are so I guess they had their reasons.
I mean if you went by the power you had available to you then there is another argument for Donkey Kong Bananza on Switch 2.
But I guess it’s judge on nothing to do with the power available and just what looks best, which would be on PC unless a PS5 Pro exclusive.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Xbox Game Of The Year For 2025?

OldGamer999

@Shinato2024 @Fiendish-Beaver
Well Xbox studios, they also won last year with Indy.
To me it is also showing that Sony once the king of graphics, last of us, uncharted and Horizon etc.
Have taken the GAAS of the peddle, oops did I spell that right 🤣
They do one big exclusive a year GOY and that didn’t make the top 3.
