Doom: The Dark Ages - Xbox Series X delivers the smoothest experience, PS5 Pro the crispest image.
The series x hardware VRS helps as Sony don’t have that in hardware.

Also we all forget the series is a 12tflop console and the Pro 16tflop. With diminishing returns really showing there is not much in it at times. As for PSSR it is not used but remember it is only an upscaler like FSR.
I think Id are using their own upscaling like in Indy.

It really is a tale of two different metric and two companies having different aims and goals.

One will dominate overall in software by publishing on all platforms day one mainly.

One will dominate in consoles sales due to,
I guess a big fan base, which I was in the PS4 era and start of the PS5 era but not really now, I mainly game on series x with GPU.
Sony just about pushing out one AAA game a year from their studios nowadays.

It’s simple Sony Studios are not making games or releasing games like in the PS4 era.
We know what they did GAAS and messed up.

Sony software must be well done compared to same time PS4 era aligned.

Series X GPU day one.

Does surprise me why developers waste time with these naff mech and flying sections in games.
Could have used the time to add another real level.
Anyway day one GPU for me.

Simply Doom so that’s good and the mech and flying sections are short so that’s good.
Got a really good Eurogamer review as well which I watched the video for.
Shall be playing on series x with GPU, which so far late last year and this year really is the way to play all these Xbox studio games and some others.
Sod paying £70 odd notes a game nowadays.

Think we need to get over this physical thing now. Music and movies have done it, time for gaming to move on.
It won’t bother me shall be downloading on GPU.

Looks interesting shall wait for reviews though.

I do get the point, but we could have a far cheaper home version. Some don’t use it to switch from home to handled, some just play docked.
Anyway it’s the usual corporate greed or what’s best for their business, not for us, for sure.

So basically if you are happy with what you are playing for example on game pass then you might not buy another game even if you did sort of want the other game.

Like I have a switch 2 and switch 2 pro controller preordered for release day.
But after reevaluating I may well surrender the pre-order. Then Nintendo lose out, for now anyway.

Not totally true about time.
Because if you like something more you sometimes move your free time around and play or watch the item you want to most of all and dedicate more time to that rather then other things you might have done.

Well there we have it, I have no interest at all in any hand held gaming, including Switch 2 being used as a handheld, as only play switch docked. Which is why switch 2 inflated costs are because you can only buy a hybrid model, Nintendo could themselves and us a favour by having a docked only home version switch 2 with the switch 2 pro controller for about £270.
But instead we have to buy a £400 hybrid thing, even if we don’t play handheld. Then buy the pro controller.

I beginning to actual hate all gaming companies and their continuous greed of late and hope some of it all implodes on them.

I did it ages ago, there was some tips on how to do it, but I think the loop hole got closed in the end.
I know it runs out by looking at my membership on my series x in March 2027, then I guess I have to pay 🤣

I absolutely love quick resume I currently have
Avowed, COD, South of Midnight and Oblivion remaster all on quick resume and working fine.
I cannot live without quick resume any more 🤣

I know what you mean, just a shame with all the great GPU games we have now and coming.
Would have great to have the best console being a series x Pro to play them on.
Especially with quick resume as well, amazing series console feature.

Yep I keep looking at the price of new games and my series x and my game pass ultimate subscription which runs until March 2027 at the old £11.99 per month rate fully paid for.

Then I look at the GPU better release schedule since late 2024 and 2025 and think it is so much cheaper and amazing value.

Games since late 2024 I have played on GPU on series x and coming this year so far:
Stalker
Indy Jones
COD BO
AVOWED
ATOM Fall
South of Midnight
Oblivion remaster
COD Modern warefare 2022
Doom
Gears of war reloaded
Outer World 2
COD 2025

And probably some unannounced games to come this year and that is only the games I have played not including the great expedition 33 on game pass ultimate day one.
Just add that up in money.

My subscription £148 for the year.
That’s about two full price games or two MKW full price on release day.

The only thing that very slightly gets me is not the Xbox games going to PS5, that’s old news now.
Is the PS5 Pro is the best place to play these Xbox games, very evident with FH5 getting the quality mode with all the bells and whistles running at 60fps. It’s such a reverse and then another reversal now including Xbox studio games, compare to my old amazing Xbox one X days.
I know PCs are still even better, but this is another home console namely the PS5 Pro.

Shame we didn’t get a mid generation series x upgrade so Xbox could stay top dog of the quality console world, like with the Xbox one X, especially now as we won’t get next gen until 2027.

Yep totally agree lots of motion blur and maybe pixel creep when panning at 30fps, unless Rockstar somehow smooth out 30fps.
For me to it spoils some of the game.
I never play any game at 30fps.

When I see real gameplay and how it handles I will pay more attention then next year.

The only publisher that seems to be doing great things and in numbers this year so far.

Ok Nintendo have MKW then DK but the rest is add on like TOTK for Switch 2

Sony just have got so boring of late and. All though 2024 as well or is Xbox studios just making Sony look bad, who knows.

Yep it’s almost insane gaming really on GPU with a series x. Especially as the cost of games keeps going up.

It is what it is and I shall be playing on GPU the best value for gaming entertainment bar none.

The PS5 gang can pay full price for all the Xbox games they wish to.

For me and what I’ve played and enjoyed and still to play, just look at the list.

Well it won’t be Dolby Vision on any PS console as they do not support it.

My Sony A95L 65” and Dolby Atmos surround set up is in for a real treat come August.

It’s looks great E33 but I just can’t do turn based combat. I have really tired.

Yep you are right we are the chatting minority and the mass general public are seeing lots of price increases with other stuff and it is just one of those.
Anyway this why I can’t see why the general public don’t see Xbox consoles and GPU.

The PS5 digital preorder charts tell companies gamers have plenty of money.

Does make me laugh about game prices increasing and the out cry.

Then the more expensive digital deluxe edition of Ghost of Y is number one in the pre orders.

The same if you look at Doom in number 4 and 5 the far more expensive deluxe edition ahead of the cheaper standard edition.

Now we know some of the reason game prices are on the increase, the companies see this and think gamers like to spend more and have the money to do so.

I’m still on the fence with Switch 2, I do have a preorder for the MKW switch 2 console bundle and the switch 2 pro controller but might surrender the preorder.

Not sure there is enough on Switch 2 for now anyway and wait a year.
Don’t get me wrong MKW looks good, but not totally sure about DKB and the other third party games are old games and far better on series X.
I only play docked so the hybrid part is wasted on me.

Very nice and quiet and cool the series X white digital. All set up and running now.
I don’t care anymore about the exclusive thing.
I have game pass until March 2027 so I’m enjoying it. Also at probably around £70 a game I save in the long run as my GPU stack was only £11.99 per month.
My favourite game across all consoles so far this year 2025 is Avowed so I’m doing great.

Some forget the Switch 2 I know it’s hybrid but is £400 for a docked 3tflops and undocked 1.7tflops. Remember the game has at the 1.7tflops as well lowest common denominator.
12tflops at £499 does sound better to me.

You might still get one at the old price, in the UK some shops are still doing the old price for now but some have already increased to the new price.

Funny enough I just ordered a series x white digital yesterday from Smyths Toys and just got it delivered.
Currently they are still holding the old price of £430.
Looks so nice in all white.

Once me series x white digital gets here, one hour delivery away, shall set up and start down loads.
Then off out to a birthday party.
Then will go for Oblivion remastered once back home.

With you on the Switch 2 Xbox games.
It will be slow and very specific.
It’s only 1.7 tflop handheld and 3tflop when docked but as we know you have to allow for lowest common denominator.

I mean they not exactly going full steam ahead on the PlayStation yet.
I think fan boys and probably including myself have got a bit carried away with actually how much will get ported to other consoles and it is not as big a posh as I first thought.

It will very strategic and focused I think and based on return on investment etc.

Let’s get fable out and being a big AAA first that will do me.

I really enjoyed Infinite single player I only play.
Great fps control and grappling hook was great as well.
It did lack that new generation feel graphics wise and only really had one biome and almost zero environmental effect and weather.

They could have released on the back of it some campaign dlc and advanced the systems would have been great.

I’m calling a new Halo game for the summer showcase based on that demo they showed before, maybe a 12 hour game at a little lower price. Released late 2025.
