Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 24-25)

OldGamer999

Ok here we go with a moan.
So far cry primal series x 60FPS update.
Cloud save worked perfectly and got my save and settings.

Right playing FCP made me see how poor and over large open world games have become and how boring at times and full of to much filler and open gaps.

FCP is a smaller map very dense but so more real with what is going, the wild animals, the other tribes that are out and about, doing things and attacking things and you, the noises the atmosphere.
The world created in general.

It’s just all there and better than today’s open world games.

Graphics wise really has stood up well and the 60FPS has no shimmer or pixel crawl like today games.
The sound atmosphere wise is so spot on.

Game Development has really not advanced that much and even gone backwards in someways.

Re: Opinion: Xbox Dev Direct 2026 Was Great, And One Game Clearly Stole The Show

OldGamer999

Would have liked to have seen a bit more, but guess we will get some more nearer the release date in the Autumn. Shame we didn’t have a date to it, which was a little surprising.

Was expecting the PS5 release not to be day one, but being honest I think that is why it is realising in Autumn for a multi platform release.
Playground did a good of the PS5 Pro upgrade for FH5 so expecting the same for Fable and FH6 which releases later on PS5.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade 2026's Xbox Developer Direct?

OldGamer999

@HonestHick
It’s definitely got worse on the other side since Xbox have put games on PS5, like the superior race type thing.

Don’t get me wrong I get some stick on here, but it is more a well thought out response and gamer lead than crash bang wallop response.

The other day I was trying explain the Sony TV thing and the TCL sort of buyout, I gave up as I got crazy responses and I was even praising current Sony Tvs and that I was concerned about the future quality of Sony TVs.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade 2026's Xbox Developer Direct?

OldGamer999

@HonestHick
I agree if Sony put some of their games on Xbox consoles say Uncharted 4 it would not make may difference to PS5 console sales at all. Maybe even new games day one or 6 months to a year later.
Nothing will stop the PS5 console selling machine now really.

I put this on Push Square a month ago, anyone think I had declared world war 3 over there.
They really don’t want Sony games on another console, even Xbox which is no threat to PS5 sales and puts games on PS5.

Re: Ubisoft Cancels Multiple Games, Closes Studios, And Unveils New Strategy For The Future

OldGamer999

@BAMozzy
Oh well.
I’m prefer the higher quality AAA games.

But that is not my point, they really do stretch their teams to far and what have we seen so many times over the last year and now this year.
All that time and money wasted on half developed games.

These companies really don’t know how to run a gaming business.
There is no excuse for their terrible incompetence.

Re: Report: Microsoft Is Set To Launch An Xbox Cloud Gaming Ad-Tier This Year

OldGamer999

I could not be further away from wanting anything to do with Cloud gaming than I have ever been.
I’ve tried recently on series x, UK.
And what a mess on my TV screen and lag. Absolutely pathetic.
We are many years away from cloud gaming being anywhere near the download game experience.
I want quality to moved forward not backwards, so I really hope they don’t think they can replace the console download game for this cloud rubbish.

The above is my main concern with the new Xbox hybrid thing. But I’m sure the new games or PC games of course will be full downloads for the Xbox hybrid thing.

Re: Talking Point: As Xbox Celebrates 25 Years, What's Your First Ever Xbox Memory?

OldGamer999

Day one with the original Xbox from Game UK, when we used it go to the shops 🤣
Have had every Xbox day one since, hence probably and not so much now, why I used to get so frustrated and passionate with some of my posts on here.

Overall it’s been a Greg time over the 25 years, of course the highlight for me was the xbox360 and less so the Xbox one x.
Anyway me and my series x and GPU are still a trio as of today and looking forward to the Xbox studio games probably coming this year.

Re: Is It Worth Buying An Xbox One In 2026?

OldGamer999

Obviously had Xbox one but went Xbox one x
When that came out.
One x was a great console and good clearly see the resolution difference on most games. Farcry stood out very well.
My daughter has my old Xbox one x now and still uses it now and again.

Re: Phil Spencer Reveals 'Xbox 25' Logo And Shares Video Message Ahead Of Developer Direct

OldGamer999

@Questionable_Duck
Yep overall consoles sales are slowly decline yes the switch 2 was the fastest selling console but outside Japan it’s falling off as per Nintendo life wrote.
The PS5 is behind the PS4 and that was after the massive discounts all of December in the UK and Europe.
And we all know the Xbox story.

Surely tech wise etc the long future will be no consoles
Just like sky have now stopped selling sky q and only sell sky stream. We will be forced into it one day.
Game steaming and that’s it, like it or not.
I think Xbox first, then Sony, then Nintendo will be the last of a console breed.
Maybe PC gaming will be the last download and play system in the future.

Re: Phil Spencer Reveals 'Xbox 25' Logo And Shares Video Message Ahead Of Developer Direct

OldGamer999

@Sol4ris
I’ve fallen out with Sony.

I’m totally in the same boat as you and just bought ACS on series x in the sale. So ok price.
As you know I’m GPU stacked until March 2027 and with this years games it’s looking really good.
Also I loves the quick resume and Xbox controller.
I’m staying with Xbox and just have my fingers crossed.
If they stitch us up then we go later on 🤣
Sony have began to grind on me anyway, more TV and sound bar wise. So I sold the lot and got a new 2025 Samsung QD-OLED and soundbar with sub and rears and have not looked back.
I think Sony charge to much AV wise and do not really deliver nowadays and come with things missing, the others have really caught up in 2025 sharpness and motion wise as well.

@dskatter
Quick resume for me is the best feature this new generation along with ssd drives.

Can’t for the life of me understand why Sony have not done the same with the PS5 and Pro.
Imagine that super fast ssd in the PS5 and five games sitting there in quick resume, would be amazing.
Especially as it would suit Sonys single player campaign games so much.

I know I’m slacking Sony with this, but I think they are just lazy as I believe it is just a little programme that memory dumps the game position on the SSD.
However someone in defence of Sony said Microsoft have the patent for QR.

Re: Phil Spencer Reveals 'Xbox 25' Logo And Shares Video Message Ahead Of Developer Direct

OldGamer999

I think 2026 will be the best and probably the pinnacle year for Xbox studios and GPU in this current console generation, including games for other platforms as well.
2027 could be good as-well depending on what pans out and any new hardware releases be it Xbox or PlayStation.

However cross generation games will feature even more for Xbox and Sony when they move into next generation.
I can actually see from both Sony and Xbox and third party studios releasing major AAA titles for cross generation next generation for the whole generation.
This current generation was just a cross generation warm up.

Re: New Xbox Hardware Is Reportedly Set To Arrive In 2026

OldGamer999

I would shocked if we saw a new Xbox tote console thing in 2026.
But I suppose we have to remember we never got a sort of slim series console or a mid generation upgrade.
So you could say their hardware team have had a long time to focus on a full new console compared to Sony for example.

Re: New Xbox Hardware Is Reportedly Set To Arrive In 2026

OldGamer999

@Martsmall
Yep I know that.
But in some peoples minds compared to dual sense 5 the current Xbox controller is out of touch with certain features.
Having used both a lot, to hold and trigger wise I prefer the xbox controller elite 2.
But feature wise and if used correctly the dual sense 5 does have some nice haptics and trigger tension and the built in speaker does create better gaming immersion in some cases.

Re: New Xbox Hardware Is Reportedly Set To Arrive In 2026

OldGamer999

I would think why bother with an elite 3 controller until the new Xbox console thing.
But let’s not forget Xbox thinking.
Your TV, PC etc are Xbox’s so maybe thinking that way a new modern elite 3 controller does make sense as we are not tying things to consoles anymore in the traditional way.

So this controller would be used of course for the series consoles but also everything else that is an Xbox, but of course not the PS5 or switch 2.

Re: Today Marks 25 Years Since Bill Gates & The Rock Unveiled The OG Xbox

OldGamer999

And I was there at the age of 30 and have enjoyed every moment since, but with lots of ups and downs of late of course.
Had every Xbox console day one since the original Xbox, including upgrade models.

It’s been a strange journey with the powerful original Xbox, the era of the xbox360 and so on.

How gaming and times have changed over that 25 years.
The advances in technology and me being all digital and the GPU subscription service.

One thing I do miss is the monthly magazines where you got your fix of gaming news, sometimes a video of up and coming games and then disc demos.
Something to look forward to each month, now of course it’s all there every day and bang up to date on the internet.

Anyway let’s see what the next 25 years bring.
