For me the problem with the switch 2 and these level of games is the 30fps. After 5 years of 60fps it’s a tough one. Maybe for handheld it’s ok but TV gameplay it’s not great. Star Wars outlaws is not to bad at 30fps but my TV using its game mode motion system really does give it a big helping hand. Without it at 30fps even SWO looks dam blurry when panning around.
60fps with VRR really is the way play and of course on the series x for that.
As nice as all this fannying about is with a very old game. This should have RDR2 series x update to 4K 60fps. I shall definitely be skipping this even though it’s a free upgrade for me.
@Fiendish-Beaver I think the industry has a whole has a top AAA game production issue. Have you seen Metriod Prime 4 meta score struggle to hit 80. You would have not thought that 2 years ago.
On a big TV like line 65” native 4K 60fps is always the purest and sharpness and less blurry when panning, top end solution. I’ve played a few old gen games on series x at native 4K 60fps. And even though the LOD of some newer games has more LOD, that crap upscaling is never as sharp and pure as native 4K. Division 2 is another game that shines so much at 4K native 60fps series x that also have a very high level of detail and puts nearly all new this generation games to shame.
@Fiendish-Beaver Oh wise man, were has all the details LOD gone in our new video games, apart from a few exceptions.
I watched an article showing older games against today’s games and the LOD seems lower in most new games.
So I played Division 2 the New York DLC, series x. And thought this article has a point, the LOD etc puts most new games to shame.
The only thing I can think of, reduction in production LOD and developers chasing and using console resources on things like ray tracing and having to drop LOD. Anyway enjoying the DLC.
I jumped in for sonic crosswords racing deluxe edition BF deal, series x. Going great so far, what a great kart racing and refreshing from the usual one. Deserves lots of praise, fantastic game.
Also OW2 but somehow I upset the ORDER and everywhere I go I have kill on site from them. No bounty and can’t stop them.
Anyone know how to get them to stop shooting me and like me again. It sort of spoils the game a bit.
@Fiendish-Beaver Yes I’m for backing Microsoft with their next console hybrid thing as long as they don’t force Cloud only gaming on me. I must have full download 4K top end AAA experience else it is not worth the cost of the hardware. That is for existing series x console games, which is my concern. Obviously I think new PC games for the hybrid console will of course be full download experience.
So all they have to tell me today is. Yes all series x games can be fully downloaded on the new hybrid console and definitely not cloud gaming only. It’s so simple.
@TrollOfWar For me Xbox future strategy hardware needs to be revealed and detailed, that is my only issue with them really. Do I sit on fence and see what this new hybrid thing is and does etc. Or do what most have done leave the Xbox ecosystem system and move on. So just let us know Xbox, what you are really planning in full detail and how it all works and capabilities.
You must want to keep some of your loyal day one Xboxers or do you want us all to leave and cancel GPU. Because the way you are going about things it’s like you almost want us to leave and forget our decades long lasting relationship.
@Fiendish-Beaver You got that spot on and things I have said in the past. Additionally and you know my line sell an Xbox console sell a game pass subscription.
I actually believe now they don’t really want Xbox consoles and now even game pass. They definitely don’t promote consoles they are dead and only sold about 140K worldwide for October 25, that’s embarrassing.
Now gamepass is hardly promoted and really is not selling and taking off and it will go the way of the Xbox consoles, in the bin.
They haven’t released that many games on other consoles and next to nothing in switch and zero in switch 2.
So I really have not a clue what business model they are actually running and what solid aims and objectives they have.
I think the damage is irreversible now and it’s all PS5, Switch and PC.
Definitely not of star wars outlaws quality port to the switch 2. That port is almost a minor miracle and in some ways shows me how underused power wise the series x and PS5 are used or optimised. It’s a little 3tflop console when docked against 12tflop or even 16tflop of the PS5 Pro. Maybe the switch 2 newer technology helps a little and Nvidia GPU with DLSS.
Of course it’s never gonna get to series x level but UBISOFT did an amazing job with SWO port.
Definitely leads the way for Microsoft studios to do some good ports to switch 2 of say Outerworlds 2 or FH5.
Being honest it would have been the most embarrassing and hypocritical thing Microsoft could have done, to celebrate the most glorious days of the Xbox console the Xbox360. When they have treated the series x consoles like some scum off the bottom of their shoe. Also only selling about 150k worldwide last month.
@GuyinPA75 I used to think like your good self, and yes I have the consoles, but I’m more open now to something new. Been gaming for decades on consoles and fancy something different, something maybe PC where I can upgrade if I wish and play PC games, Xbox games and now Sony games. Like I said it’s probably my decades of consoles, that are now getting rinse and repeat, look at the cross generation games this generation, the slow drag to new generation games. Console gaming is getting sort of dull and unfortunately rinse and repeat like, with a small return on the last generation for what now is getting expensive for very little in return.
I mean put last of us 2 or uncharted 4 on a very good TV with a PS4 Pro and it almost matches today’s new generation console best games. And let’s not forget PS4 Pro Horizon forbidden west. Then we have the Xbox one and some of those best games. Very diminishing returns this generation.
@Coletrain Doesn’t surprise me, even my 10 year old nephew has started chatting wanting a gaming PC.
Then again and being honest, the console companies only have their selves to blame, especially this generation. There has been a lot of anti- consumer stuff, increasing prices, trying to monopolise the market and mixed messaging and increased profits but charging more.
As we mentioned PCs I bumped into the young crowed at work today 6 of them about 26 years old. Asked about their gaming, all doing some battlefield multiplayer. Anyway asked what consoles, no they said we are all PC. My point about fives years ago asking the same demographic of youngsters at work they would have named whatever console.
Are things slowly moving to PC? I know a very small group but surprised me.
Having GPU it’s a tough one with plenty to play. However I’m considering the new Sonic Racing after trying the demo. Think I have 9 days of the sale left.
@Titntin Yeah they are not putting prices up, but you believe them totally and the so called clever reasons for not doing so.
Out of interest, as you know PS5 consoles seem at really good prices in the UK Black Friday deals, some say the price they should be 5 years in. Do you think with these Black Friday prices: They lose money They break even They make money
This is not meant to be a Sony thing by the way, all three are as bad as each other.
@Titntin Sorry, meant “more profit” I just standing up for us little people the gamers That get the cost increased, whilst the big guys make more profit.
@Titntin I’m not saying Sony have not done that. But I don’t believe all these excuses for increasing prices. My new car is now £2k cheaper new than when I purchased it 2 years ago. Which means they have probably done better deals in parts and streamlined manufacturing process.
Also a couple of other smaller electronic items I have purchased recently are a little bit cheaper than 6 months ago. Also TVs have dropped good as well.
It always just seems the gaming industry that these poor poor poor companies have issues with cost, bless them.
Me thinks it’s all a scam to keep prices up and profits up and higher. Even Sony reported that they make poor profit per PS5 sold that PS4 sold back in the day. That was from early this year.
Isn’t it amazing there are only 3 major console manufacturers and it’s their prices going up.
As in other electronic areas like TVs and Cars etc prices are coming down. Due to a lot more manufacturers from a lot more different countries competing.
Me thinks we need more competition to wake the big three up and stop them mugging us gamers off.
UK has as good supply of series consoles and they do ok over here. Xbox have been totally damp squids last year and this year with console Black Friday deals, these are just small shop discounts.
And there was me thinking once they got COD we would get the full Monty console and COD special cheap releases and posh boxes etc.
Special slogans like “XBOX THE HOME OF COD” They are so out of touch or just don’t want to.
Like Sony used to do when they had the COD deal.
I think if Xbox had pushed the consoles sales and marketing and stayed exclusive and marketed game pass with a console correctly, we could have seen double the series consoles sales.
@Fiendish-Beaver That’s a coincidence my nephew is on his 4th year at Plymouth university. You cannot blame him for the high price, he was only about 3 years old then 🤣 Great story by the way.
The definition of a pure absolute and amazing Xbox era. How far they have gone down hill since then.
The era when Xbox consoles were in many houses and games were a plenty first party and amazing AAA quality. When people spoke and praised xbox and shops gave it lots of shelf space, merchandise was in shops for all ages etc. When Xbox had ambition and masses of momentum and truly deserved its place in gaming.
And now their console is almost obsolete, no Black Friday deals no big AAA quality games, messing up COD, cancelling games and no buzz and momentum.
It’s almost like when they purchased Nokia and downed their mobile phone market they had.
At this stage I wish they would sell all their studios shut the whole Xbox lot down, they are not even good competition anymore to keep Sony and Nintendo on tender hooks.
Would be interesting if this was a survey on the general public from ages say 10 to 50 year olds. I guess this would then be an extremely niche product. And not being funny, most would say what’s play anywhere and also probably Xbox, yeah I remember them and the 360.
I thought with BF this year they would have gone all out for a best ever COD. How wrong I was. Well next year they will have GTA6 to compete with gamers time.
Just one more game for me this year Metroid Prime 4.
Out standing era the best Xbox era the 360. Anyway all in vain now, as Sony and Nintendo dominate the living room, console wise. I think now since the last year or two all my family and friends have moved on and I only know one with an Xbox device now, UK.
Campaign and fun play and grappling hook totally clicked with me and really enjoyed. Of course there was lots of improvements that should have happened and of course further story dlc.
Overall enjoyed the campaign but glad it’s over and hooter can move into better things. Looking forward to Halo campaign evolved in 2026.
@Fiendish-Beaver Totally off subject, but was looking at the tomb raider games. Noticed this, two great AAA games big games with 3 years release schedule. Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015) Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018)
Another good example is super Mario Galaxy 1 to 2. Which is 3 years cycle.
Still looking really good on current gen consoles.
Really why do games take so long nowadays, I can’t believe we used to produce in such amazing times, 3 years. Now it’s a drawn out 5 to 6 years maybe plus.
I will be honest where I work nowadays compared to pre covid when everyone was at work and seemed far less entitled, maybe Gen Z not totally sure. More personal don’t seem to work as hard or push and chase and have as much drive and passion for work or were there work. I’m 70s but started work at 16 in the 80s and I haven’t lost an ounce of drive or passion for my work.
My last game purchase was yooke replay for about £30. The rest are mainly on GPU for me. Like current plays OW2 and COD campaign and Prince of Persia now on GPU. It’s great whilst I’m stacked until March 2027 at the old price of £11.99 per month. I feel like a thief 🤣🤣🤣
Probably quiet for me now until February 2026 when high on life 2 releases on GPU. Also RE9. However if it’s like RE8 fantastic, lots of action. But I have a feeling it will be more like RE7 slow horror, which looks too slow and a bit boring for me. Only going by trailers so far.
@somnambulance For me only of course Nintendo have Yoshi maybe not sure on that game and that’s it. Sony wolverine only. Though I would have Nintendo would maybe have a new 3d Mario who knows.
Xbox if I had to pay I have GPU, I would definitely by Fable, gears and Halo and think about Forza 6. So having stacked GPU and for Xbox could be a very good year for them, if they all release with just FH6 and Halo only confirmed so far.
Just give me those four games you mentioned and that’s four big AAA from Xbox studios for the year 2026. I can’t ask for than that and on my GPU.
We don’t see the other 2 releasing that many big games in a single year. Sony are almost down to one a year and Nintendo will probably have 2 big AAA from them and maybe two smaller games.
Outer words 2 slowly getting through it. Now having GPU went COD Campaign Well it’s seems good to me, I’m not a COD head, but shooting about seems to be good fun. Playing on series x at 60fps runs so smooth and looks really sharp and good, textures all great.
After reading the reviews I thought oh no, but seems a good COD campaign to me.

I don’t believe any of them all three.
It’s a very cornered market with three big players, giving little competition.
Especially comparing it to the TV, car and washing machine market. 🤣🤣🤣
Re: Xbox Series X|S Could Go Up In Price Again Due To Potential RAM Shortages, It's Claimed
@Titntin
So they are making profits on Black Friday UK prices.
They making lots on the RRP the rest of the time.
Anyway have a fabulous evening.
I’m only sticking up for the consumer, someone has to most of the console world has been very anti-consumer this generation.

I’m not saying Sony have not done that.
But I don’t believe all these excuses for increasing prices.

I got the 20gb model for £279.99 UK on launch.

Re: Sarah Bond Insists Hardware Is 'Absolutely Core' To Xbox, Teases Powerful Next-Gen Console
We just need more detail on what shape or form this hardware will take and what works on it, from a full download to streaming games.
I can’t see us getting just getting a simple new console say a series Z.
Re: Two Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In December 2025 So Far
Probably quiet for me now until February 2026 when high on life 2 releases on GPU.
Also RE9. However if it’s like RE8 fantastic, lots of action.
But I have a feeling it will be more like RE7 slow horror, which looks too slow and a bit boring for me.
Only going by trailers so far.
Re: Talking Point: Xbox Is 24 Years Old Today, What Do You Expect From Next Year's 25th Birthday?
@somnambulance
For me only of course Nintendo have Yoshi maybe not sure on that game and that’s it.
Re: Talking Point: Xbox Is 24 Years Old Today, What Do You Expect From Next Year's 25th Birthday?
Just give me those four games you mentioned and that’s four big AAA from Xbox studios for the year 2026.
I can’t ask for than that and on my GPU.
We don’t see the other 2 releasing that many big games in a single year. Sony are almost down to one a year and Nintendo will probably have 2 big AAA from them and maybe two smaller games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 15-16)
Outer words 2 slowly getting through it.
Now having GPU went COD Campaign
Well it’s seems good to me, I’m not a COD head, but shooting about seems to be good fun.
Playing on series x at 60fps runs so smooth and looks really sharp and good, textures all great.
After reading the reviews I thought oh no, but seems a good COD campaign to me.
