Re: Talking Point: What Do You Hope To See From Xbox Developer Direct Next Month?

OldGamer999

This really could be the year for Xbox and Xbox studios.
Especially me with GPU
I mean Halo, FH6, Gears in 2026.
Also of course there is COD as well.
Now if we get Fable and or Clockwork in 2026 as well
What a special year from Xbox studios.

A lot have ago about Xbox, including me at times but just go look at the other two and what they have only confirmed so far 2026. Not as many and who knows maybe not as good. Mario tennis and Yoshi won’t hit the spot and will be average.
Then Sony have the Returnal follow up a bit niche and then Wolverine, could be very good.

So far 2026 Xbox look to be leading the pack.

Re: Black Ops 7 Sales & Players Down Massively On Last Year's Call Of Duty, New Data Shows

OldGamer999

Tried the campaign not great.
And what has that lead to, me uninstalling the whole COD app from my series x.
So next year best be fantastic so I load it again.

Microsoft are good at giving engagement data, BWT they don’t mention how many have installed COD APP.

Anyway let’s hope next year will amaze us. But don’t really care as we Halo next year FPS campaign wise and clockwork as well.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Game Awards 2025?

OldGamer999

I went to bed 🤣
But catched up now, it seemed an ok C to D
for me.
Nothing that special.
Even RE9 doesn’t seem that exciting to me.
I prefer the action RE8 style all the way through and I think a lot of this game will be creepy run and hide rubbish and let’s be scared that I can’t stand.
I demand action and lot of it 🤣

Re: PlayStation Highlights Halo: Campaign Evolved As One Of Its 'Must-Play' Games For 2026

OldGamer999

It’s all dam crazy to an old gamer like me and I will miss the Xbox Vs PlayStation console sales battles and the competition will be very missed and bad for us gamers.

We will be left with 2 major console players N and S and you can already see them getting a bit lazy and keeping the prices high.

Anyway sad to really see this sort of thing happen, but it is what it is now, I’m afraid.

Re: Here's Your First Look At The Xbox Bowl In EA Sports College Football 26

OldGamer999

I appreciate what Xbox are doing here and yes it’s PR.
But it won’t do anything for the brand.

They have done so much more damage this year that it is all totally irrelevant and irreversible.
I mean who get outsold on BF in their own back yard the USA by a little square box thing.

Even the famous COD is now 5th in the UK charts last week meaning this week published.

So console sales as good as dead, game pass going the same way and now COD at its lowest point ever.

If you were paid to kill the Xbox brand 1 trillion dollars, I don’t think you could a better job than Microsoft are doing on their own.

Re: Ex-Forza Dev Says Horizon 5 Was Impacted By COVID, New Game Is 'In A League Of Its Own'

OldGamer999

I so applaud this developer. For coming out with working from home effects game development.
And since covid you will have more people working from home in game development than prior to covid and that’s one reason why games are taking longer to produce.

I see it where I work and it affects the process flow of work. Aerospace industry.

I used to get grief for saying it on forums but this just proves my point I made a good year ago.

Thank you Gavin.

Re: Xbox Exec Teases 'Exciting' Plans For 2026 When Asked About OG Xbox Titles & Game Pass

OldGamer999

The overall problem for Xbox is general public enthusiasm and momentum for the Xbox product.

Microsoft bashing console sales to near Zero and game pass as well with price increases.
You really do have to think, what the hell are they doing with Xbox.

Even COD has slipped to number5 in the UK charts now.
I mean you could not make this stuff up, unless you wanted totally to kill a brand deliberately.
Or you are that out of touch with your audience and totally wrapped in your companies own propaganda bubble.

Re: Clockwork Revolution Dev Shares New Message About Its Eagerly Anticipated Xbox RPG

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
I get your point about Xbox studios but I was also on about the industry in general.
Even look at MP4 and GOY.
Those big AAA top games say at least 90 plus and critically acclaimed don’t seem to be about as much in the PS4 and Switch era. Also including the start of the PS5 era.

As for Xbox I’m not sure they want big AAA top end, just good games at around the 80s.

Re: Digital Foundry Compares Xbox Series S & Switch 2 In New Assassin's Creed Shadows Analysis

OldGamer999

For me the problem with the switch 2 and these level of games is the 30fps.
After 5 years of 60fps it’s a tough one.
Maybe for handheld it’s ok but TV gameplay it’s not great.
Star Wars outlaws is not to bad at 30fps but my TV using its game mode motion system really does give it a big helping hand. Without it at 30fps even SWO looks dam blurry when panning around.

60fps with VRR really is the way play and of course on the series x for that.

Re: Here's What The Red Dead Redemption Upgrade Looks Like On Xbox Series X|S

OldGamer999

On a big TV like line 65” native 4K 60fps is always the purest and sharpness and less blurry when panning, top end solution.
I’ve played a few old gen games on series x at native 4K 60fps.
And even though the LOD of some newer games has more LOD, that crap upscaling is never as sharp and pure as native 4K.
Division 2 is another game that shines so much at 4K native 60fps series x that also have a very high level of detail and puts nearly all new this generation games to shame.

Re: Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In December 2025

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
Oh wise man, were has all the details LOD gone in our new video games, apart from a few exceptions.

I watched an article showing older games against today’s games and the LOD seems lower in most new games.

So I played Division 2 the New York DLC, series x.
And thought this article has a point, the LOD etc puts most new games to shame.

The only thing I can think of, reduction in production LOD and developers chasing and using console resources on things like ray tracing and having to drop LOD. Anyway enjoying the DLC.

Have a fab day.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 29-30)

OldGamer999

I jumped in for sonic crosswords racing deluxe edition BF deal, series x.
Going great so far, what a great kart racing and refreshing from the usual one.
Deserves lots of praise, fantastic game.

Also OW2 but somehow I upset the ORDER and everywhere I go I have kill on site from them.
No bounty and can’t stop them.

Anyone know how to get them to stop shooting me and like me again. It sort of spoils the game a bit.

Re: Phil Spencer Was Asked About Xbox's 'Unusual Strategy' In 2019, And The Answers Are Still Relevant Six Years Later

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
Yes I’m for backing Microsoft with their next console hybrid thing as long as they don’t force Cloud only gaming on me. I must have full download 4K top end AAA experience else it is not worth the cost of the hardware.
That is for existing series x console games, which is my concern.
Obviously I think new PC games for the hybrid console will of course be full download experience.

So all they have to tell me today is.
Yes all series x games can be fully downloaded on the new hybrid console and definitely not cloud gaming only.
It’s so simple.

Re: Phil Spencer Was Asked About Xbox's 'Unusual Strategy' In 2019, And The Answers Are Still Relevant Six Years Later

OldGamer999

@TrollOfWar
For me Xbox future strategy hardware needs to be revealed and detailed, that is my only issue with them really.
Do I sit on fence and see what this new hybrid thing is and does etc.
Or do what most have done leave the Xbox ecosystem system and move on.
So just let us know Xbox, what you are really planning in full detail and how it all works and capabilities.

You must want to keep some of your loyal day one Xboxers or do you want us all to leave and cancel GPU.
Because the way you are going about things it’s like you almost want us to leave and forget our decades long lasting relationship.

Re: Phil Spencer Was Asked About Xbox's 'Unusual Strategy' In 2019, And The Answers Are Still Relevant Six Years Later

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
You got that spot on and things I have said in the past.
Additionally and you know my line sell an Xbox console sell a game pass subscription.

I actually believe now they don’t really want Xbox consoles and now even game pass. They definitely don’t promote consoles they are dead and only sold about 140K worldwide for October 25, that’s embarrassing.

Now gamepass is hardly promoted and really is not selling and taking off and it will go the way of the Xbox consoles, in the bin.

They haven’t released that many games on other consoles and next to nothing in switch and zero in switch 2.

So I really have not a clue what business model they are actually running and what solid aims and objectives they have.

I think the damage is irreversible now and it’s all PS5, Switch and PC.

Re: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition On Switch 2 Is 'Cut Back' Even From The Xbox 360 Version

OldGamer999

Definitely not of star wars outlaws quality port to the switch 2.
That port is almost a minor miracle and in some ways shows me how underused power wise the series x and PS5 are used or optimised.
It’s a little 3tflop console when docked against 12tflop or even 16tflop of the PS5 Pro.
Maybe the switch 2 newer technology helps a little and Nvidia GPU with DLSS.

Of course it’s never gonna get to series x level but UBISOFT did an amazing job with SWO port.

Definitely leads the way for Microsoft studios to do some good ports to switch 2 of say Outerworlds 2 or FH5.

Re: Here's What's Included In The Xbox November 2025 Update

OldGamer999

@GuyinPA75
I used to think like your good self, and yes I have the consoles, but I’m more open now to something new.
Been gaming for decades on consoles and fancy something different, something maybe PC where I can upgrade if I wish and play PC games, Xbox games and now Sony games.
Like I said it’s probably my decades of consoles, that are now getting rinse and repeat, look at the cross generation games this generation, the slow drag to new generation games. Console gaming is getting sort of dull and unfortunately rinse and repeat like, with a small return on the last generation for what now is getting expensive for very little in return.

I mean put last of us 2 or uncharted 4 on a very good TV with a PS4 Pro and it almost matches today’s new generation console best games. And let’s not forget PS4 Pro Horizon forbidden west.
Then we have the Xbox one and some of those best games.
Very diminishing returns this generation.

Re: Here's What's Included In The Xbox November 2025 Update

OldGamer999

@Coletrain
Doesn’t surprise me, even my 10 year old nephew has started chatting wanting a gaming PC.

Then again and being honest, the console companies only have their selves to blame, especially this generation.
There has been a lot of anti- consumer stuff, increasing prices, trying to monopolise the market and mixed messaging and increased profits but charging more.

Re: Here's What's Included In The Xbox November 2025 Update

OldGamer999

As we mentioned PCs I bumped into the young crowed at work today 6 of them about 26 years old.
Asked about their gaming, all doing some battlefield multiplayer.
Anyway asked what consoles, no they said we are all PC.
My point about fives years ago asking the same demographic of youngsters at work they would have named whatever console.

Are things slowly moving to PC?
I know a very small group but surprised me.
