I'm not getting my hopes up.

I admit it would be a very 4D chess way to beat Sony by having their games available on your platform, albeit on a different storefront. In any case, I can see people balking at that price but free online would be refreshing for anything resembling a home console.

That's certainly a mindset.

@TheGameThrifter I'd ask myself that question more often if I didn't already own an Xbox. Though if rumors about the next console are true (and it sounds like they are) I may just rip off the band-aid and stop buying Xbox.

I'd settle for Fallout 5 to take place in New Vegas, but a remaster would be cool. In any case, I plan on getting Fallout 4 for NS2 as I wait for the next entry. Yes, I have beaten Fallout 4 on XSX but I didn't get the DLC and am perfectly fine with graphical downgrades to play it on a handheld I own.

This reminds me, I still need to play Avowed but I'm knee deep in RE7 at the moment (at least on Xbox).

They're really going the extra mile to squash the hardware rumors.

@SalaciousCrumb it wouldn't shock me at all if PS6 costs close to $1k USD, but then people will argue that price is justified cos reasons.

It would feel kind of wrong to get it on Switch 2 if it came there, but I might do that. If that isn't an option, I could see myself buying a Halo remake for Xbox.

My local Target seems to have an Xbox shelf so...

@Nexozi ah well then yeah. That would make sense given the other rumors and they stated that in the article, which I clearly missed the first go around. That's still a high rumored price, regardless.

@AverageGamer I'm sure people would be able to justify it. The question for the average consumer though is why would you buy into a new ecosystem if you've invested in another? But without anything concrete this is all pointless speculation.

If it's a mass marketed hybrid and considerably more powerful than Switch 2, expensive is a very wishful hope. This thing would be borderline unaffordable for a lot of people. But I guess MS is targeting higher income people with these?

I'm sticking with my current plan but will look for a discount online.

I guess Core is getting PC games at least.

As I predicted, the pricing on these is very high. For those who would want one in the first place, I doubt that's a massive deterrent, but it would give many people sticker shock.

What a crap show.

I would like to see more settlements and animals. There are a few of the former, but places like Titan could be much more interesting and forget about realism with the latter.

But yes, perhaps a sequel is where the devs need to focus more effort on to build upon the foundation of the original.

I enjoyed my time with the game so if they add anything else I like, I'll continue my second play through.

That price may be higher than people are expecting. Otherwise, they would feel better about announcing it. Yes, politics are affecting their decision but I feel like of it was remotely affordable they would have given a price.

Series X is great for backwards compatibility. And...that feels about it. I guess as budgets balloon, gaming companies will rely more heavily on cross-gen releases and multiplat.

I may jump back into multiplayer in Infinite because the gameplay is actually solid and it's generally enjoyable.

Once Sony started making first-party for PC, I figured they would start doing more of what MS was doing. When they allowed Lego Horizon to come to Switch, that solidified it. This will be interesting and a Halo crossover is completely within the realm of possibility.

TLOU would probably sell okay on Xbox.

And tbh, after Sony put some of their games on PC, it seemed inevitable they'd follow Xbox's (at least) semi-multiplat strategy.

Nintendo owns a portion of Bamco, IIRC, so I doubt this will have an impact on anything.

The way this contributor writes about a $40 game is absurd. That isn't even 'full price' for the majority of video games from a lot of major studios. If it doesn't sell at least decently, that's kind of scary.

It really seems like Microsoft has zero oversight of its studios and that's a major problem that explains their relatively weak output over the years.

Well, that is slightly surprising and not great news since the game did look at least mildly promising. And yeah, that trailer made it look pretty far along. Really, after the 2024 showcase, I wouldn't have expected Outer Worlds 2 to get a release date and then this to get cancelled.

No surprises there.

@ButterySmooth30FPS I'm not defending MS doing it (I've said on other articles there is no way I'm spending that much for their games), just stating that Sony will do it as well and walk away with no criticism.

Sony will follow suit, then it will be normalized because the gaming press won't attack them for it.

@Millionski I agree, Sony will 100% follow this because an actual handheld will make no sense. I'm 50/50 on them making PC games day and date with their console counterparts, though. They may stick with their current strategy and only do it for certain titles.

This, exactly. Which always made these rumors and the alleged intention for MS to make a handheld device alongside consoles seem a little absurd to me.
Side note: that also makes the idea of Sony making a new handheld that much more baffling...

If you think an OLED wouldn't make this more expensive at launch and that won't further push it into "no way am I buying this at that price" territory, you're kidding yourself.

Keeper is one I will 100% buy on day one.
