I heard Hellblade 2 was actually much better than the discourse suggests, shame it didn't sell that great. In any case, if anything happens, I hope they can go indie or spun off instead of outright closed.

Xbox has been horribly mismanaged since X1. It's frustrating to watch because they are sitting on so many great IP but refuse to use them. Make a new (exclusive) Banjo-Kazooie, make a new (exclusive) Conker, make a new (exclusive) Kameo, make a new (exclusive) Jet Force Gemini, make a new (exclusive) Starcraft. Come on!

@themightyant I mean that's all you can judge at this point. Actions. If they followed through on their words, we'd have better and more consistent output from them.

I noticed this when I booted up my XSX earlier today.

Of the games shown, this was graphically one of the best.

Let's just ignore the fact that XBOX maker MS is a major reason that console prices are going up because of their push to go all in on AI.

Just make some games exclusive and leave it at that. Sony did that and nobody is questioning them.

Until MS stops putting PC games day and date with XBOX console, this means little.

They'll show it when they're ready. I've been playing Deathloop and I'm kicking myself for not giving it more attention sooner. It's such an awesome game! This studio is really amazing.

Spyro is single player and that's coming to PS5 and Switch 2. Not that I'm complaining since I'm buying it on the latter. Lol

Agreed on the IP area. Nintendo is amazing at this, compared to Sony and MS. Neither of the latter two are great about that on the macro level, but Sony is still better than MS.

Tbh, I don't see a problem with focusing on your platform for your showcases. It's immaterial to Xbox if a game is multiplat or not when I watch the Xbox showcase. All I care about is "Is this coming to Xbox?" (Or in the case of Nintendo, Switch/2, is it headed there). If I wanted news on if a game is coming to multiple platforms, I'd watch a generic showcase that's platform agnostic or just read about it on IGN or a similar channel.

I wasn't really expecting to hear more about it until later this year, anyway. Seems like it will be very expensive so I'm on the fence about it.

As others have said, this was very predictable.

Xbox exclusives as they existed during the Xbox 360 era are dead. I think we've all come to terms with that. However, they can pull back on PS5 and even NS2 and I don't think it would hurt the brand at all.

Small change, but I prefer it.

I kid you not when I say I was checking my Game Pass library this morning and thinking about how MS rarely updates it and won't anytime soon. What a hilarious coincidence.

Based on the demo, I believe them because it was exceptional.

Maybe when the Switch 2 version comes out, every other version will look and perform better.

Idk how this affects me since I own it, but I really need to play this game. It's a shame we'll never get another one because both entries are apparently great. You'd think a giant company like MS could take a few L's for their series' just to maintain a fanbase in the genre (like Nintendo does with some of its more niche franchises, such as Metroid) but I guess not!

@NeoRatt well other than ABK, I meant. That was a little obvious to let it go through everywhere they had to appease Governments (which in that case I'm fine with). But their earlier acquisitions should have come with exclusivity when practicable.

I'm over the acquisitions. Keep your teams accountable and make sure you actually communicate with them (i.e., manage them) because from the outside looking in, it doesn't seem like that's happening.

This is nice, but it feels like a whole lot of nothing. What incentive do people have to buy your console if your games are coming to other devices and PC? Yes, some people don't like gaming on PC. But when you have the same library on two devices, one of which people own, which do you think people will pick to buy the games on?

And would that incentivize buying a new device? No, it wouldn't.

Kind of makes you wonder what made them go multiplat, in the first place. Was it shareholders or Phil not being able to convince Satya to stay exclusive?

I think everyone knows better than to take him at his word, by now. Still, I appreciate that he at least believes in what he's doing. Even if his work never lives up to his promises, it's still good overall. Besides, it's just video games, people.

I'd follow something similar to PS and Nintendo (the latter of which anyone else would never do because shareholders would riot), but really I'd start making most of the games exclusive to console. That may be harder since they are a PC software company first, contrary to Sony.

Tbh, I'd prefer they go back to straight up exclusive to console. Follow the rumored Sony model. Make multiplayer and live service PC games, then keep everything single player (the few that you do make) Xbox console exclusive.

With regulatory bodies paying attention and historical precedent, I'm aware what I'm about to say was never likely. Microsoft should have made COD Xbox exclusive and not put it on Game Pass.

This is far too common a practice and on Nintendo consoles, it's usually just third-parties. With MS, it's all of them. At least they are recognizing people don't like it.

This is really good news. Hope ppl with Xbox as their primary console enjoy this one! I will probably get Forza as my next Xbox game, tho.

The only way this console would have a chance is if MS pulls a (rumored) Sony and keeps single player games off PS hardware. Other than that, they shouldn't expect to sell this device to the mass market.

This thing won't be affordable and MS still has its work cut out for it. I don't see the value proposition of a console that plays PC games as well, but someone might.

I don't see why Sony would feel PS5/6 sales would be affected if the next Xbox can play first-party games via Steam because why would you choose to skip PS to play Xbox and PS games when you can do that with your PS6 and presumably play at least from PS4 to PS6 on one device? Wouldn't make any sense to change ecosystems now.

Genie's out of the bottle, they really won't be able to put it back in. Tbh, that isn't a good thing. Even partly unchecked Sony (which we have now) is a bad thing. They've required proprietary memory for their consoles in previous generations and would do that now if they could. Make no mistake, if they can remove Nintendo from the equation then you'll see that mask come off. Yes, Nintendo is a competitor of Sony's based on how they have recently been aggressively "lowering" PS5 prices to get headlines that they "won" in hardware sales for x month (yes, those headlines matter if you follow the industry closely enough).
