Re: Next Xbox Console Could Be Affected By PlayStation Pulling Back On PC

IronMan30

A rumor about a rumor. What a world we live in.

I don't see why Sony would feel PS5/6 sales would be affected if the next Xbox can play first-party games via Steam because why would you choose to skip PS to play Xbox and PS games when you can do that with your PS6 and presumably play at least from PS4 to PS6 on one device? Wouldn't make any sense to change ecosystems now.

Re: Xbox Boss Questioned On Whether Exclusives Could Return In The Future

Genie's out of the bottle, they really won't be able to put it back in. Tbh, that isn't a good thing. Even partly unchecked Sony (which we have now) is a bad thing. They've required proprietary memory for their consoles in previous generations and would do that now if they could. Make no mistake, if they can remove Nintendo from the equation then you'll see that mask come off. Yes, Nintendo is a competitor of Sony's based on how they have recently been aggressively "lowering" PS5 prices to get headlines that they "won" in hardware sales for x month (yes, those headlines matter if you follow the industry closely enough).

Re: Xbox Play Anywhere Is Convincing People To Buy Their Multiplatform Games On Xbox

IronMan30

@Gabrie I've had my eShop games for 8 years now. The reason 3DS and Wii U were closed is because of form factor and many of those games were ported over to Switch and now playable on NS2. The argument that they "may go away in a few years" could theoretically apply to anything digital so I consider that a moot point. I meant from a practical standpoint everything someone buys on Switch/2 is playable anywhere (and on one device) because of the form factor of the console.

Re: Xbox Console Sales 'The Worst On Record' In 2025 As Microsoft Shifts Focus (UK)

I guess when you give people no reason to buy a console, you won't sell them. Now, the usual suspects are shifting the argument from "exclusives don't sell consoles" to "well, they don't WANT to sell consoles!"

And make no mistake, I believe MS is and was capable of improving Xbox sales. Clearly, the people at the top don't feel that is meaningful to the overall company. This is one example of why having multiple streams of revenue isn't always good for a specific brand within a company.
