Xbox CSO Shuts Down Rumour About Exclusives, Insists They'll Happen Every Year

There have been many rumours floating around about Xbox over the past 24 hours, with most of them centred around potential studio closures, but another one has related to exclusives and how Xbox might "reverse course" on them.

Windows Central editor Jez Corden took to social media earlier today to state that the rumour was "fanfic", and that "exclusive games is a foundation of the strategy for post memory crisis".

Surprisingly, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball also confirmed that the rumour is false.

As you can see, Ball states here that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will "stay exclusive" to Xbox despite speculation that they could eventually end up on PS5 and Switch 2, and also confirms that Xbox is planning to announce exclusives "every year" for the forseeable future.

They're clearly serious about getting the message across that exclusives are an important part of the long-term strategy, and it'll be interesting to see what else gets locked into the Xbox ecosystem in 2027, 2028 and beyond.
