Xbox has enjoyed multiple successes when it comes to first-party releases in 2026, and one of those is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 - not just because it's a CoD game, but because it's been getting some great reviews as well.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma actually commented on this in a social media post last night, highlighting how Modern Warfare is "one of the most celebrated Call of Duty games in its 24-year history".

She also highlighted how the series has now reached $40B in lifetime revenue. Insane!

Modern Warfare 4 joins a string of excellent Xbox first-party games this year, including Forza Horizon 6 (which is up for GOTY at the Golden Joysticks), Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and others.

It's actually quite crazy that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been one of the most successful releases of 2026 for Xbox as well - it was brought to PS4 and PS5 along with BO1 earlier this year, and it's sold like hotcakes so far.

We're very intrigued to see how well Modern Warfare 4 ends up selling across all platforms, especially considering it didn't launch on Xbox Game Pass. If the figures are high, perhaps it'll spell big changes for the service in the future.

Did you buy Modern Warfare 4? Reckon the sales figures will be crazy? Tell us down in the comments.
