by Today's Gamescom Opening Night Live event was concluded with the announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, which is arriving for free for seemingly anyone who owns the game on September 29th, 2026.
You can see a bunch of the improvements in this version up above, including massively updated visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviours, a skill tree revamp, new finishers, an expanded photo mode, and an absolute ton of other upgrades too.
Xbox Play Anywhere support is also one of the features teased in today's reveal trailer.
"Coming on September 29, this is the definitive way to experience Geralt of Rivia’s legendary adventure. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered features an array of improvements, bringing upgrades to visuals, gameplay, and more. Remastered is a free upgrade for players who own The Witcher 3 on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. It is also available for pre-purchase on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2."
As you can see from that official description above, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered also includes both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. As you may be aware, there's also a Songs of the Past expansion coming in 2027 that was highlighted today as well, which we assume is the reason for this new remastered release.
The absolute specifics about who gets access to this remastered version haven't been outlined yet (such as whether physical editions are included), but we'll keep an eye out for more details over the coming days.
