I have paid for perhaps 2 Xbox Series games and even then, didn't pay much. This trend will continue unless I decide to buy Outer Worlds on Switch 2 (assuming it gets a port, which is not outside the realm of possibility).

Also, we knew this was coming. Microsoft told us so. It'll just be interesting to see how PS and possibly Nintendo fans respond. No, not every Nintendo game is $80, btw.

@Kaloudz it actually looks surprisingly interesting compared to the last few entries, tbh. I'd consider the Xbox version if NS2 isn't an option.

I'm sort of interested to see if this comes to NS2. I haven't played a COD in a while and I don't have GP (please stop throwing tomatoes) so I may get it there.

Maybe MS just figures the ship has sailed (no pun intended) with Xbox Series and raised the price regardless of what was happening with competitors.

I actually agree with him. Yes, people can still buy GP games but you have less incentive to do so when it's day and date. But a related question is "Is the Sony model better for consumers?" To which I'd say, "Probably not."

However, in a capitalist economy, companies will look at what maximizes profits in the long term. MS is more likely than not working towards having gamers not own anything, which will get them more money back. While the service looks nice today, it could eventually morph into something we don't like. No way to really know long term, but it's a possible scenario.

I wouldn't expect them not to have confidence in it...

I beat Starfield and NG+ seems nice, but I'd rather wait for either another major update or just get 2. Starfield 2 will likely be great.

Good luck to her there, I have doubts the studio will be much better for her but I guess you never know.

I have this on Switch but haven't started it. Might change that soon.

I try to manage my expectations, so this is going to be a 20/10 and anything less will be an abject failure.

@Millionski yep. For the most part, buying a video game at launch is a bad idea. Though I won't lie, I subsidize my Nintendo games (that I often buy at launch, but even do that less than I used to) by saving on third-parties and MS games.

Yes, I've gotten my money's worth out of Xbox Series X.

I guess that's all the more reason to keep this in the backlog.

It's a really good game, even if overrated. However, this price is undeniably great. Easily worth it for that low.

I'd buy God of War on Xbox or Switch just for the novelty, but Sony won't do that anytime soon.

I would say until Sony follows MS by putting its major first-party games on competing consoles, it doesn't really feel fully necessary to own an XSX if you don't subscribe to Game Pass.

Yes, I think Sony will eventually follow suit but they won't do it like MS is.

It's a little concerning that it took this long for a new GTA, but I guess that's life.

I've also only paid full price on one GTA game (Chinatown Wars on DS) and I won't do that for this VI.

That's great, what with game prices increasing.

As Gene Park noted on a podcast, major publishers were waiting for Nintendo or Rockstar to price a game at higher than $70 (basically to take the bad PR first, and yes, specifically those two publishers) and then follow suit. Looks like there was some weight to that claim.

It was only a 6% drop because they also counter some PS5 sales. You know, since PS5 is an Xbox.

I got Avowed with rewards points, figured since it's free it won't hurt. Then MS might get my money if they make a Switch 2 port.

This has been getting rave reviews. I always appreciate a great turn-based RPG.

This reminds me of Metroid Prime Remastered, where the developer really took the time to improve the game (not just visually but with gameplay) and it borders on a remake. In this instance, it feels much closer to a remake though.

Will Pure Xbox post a review of this game?

@Tasuki that's my biggest issue with western RPG's, the inventory limits that affect how your character moves or fast travel.

I'm hoping we see more Starfield DLC, but MS might be waiting until not-E3 to show that off. It would also be kind of funny, in a random way, if they announced a Switch 2 port of that game and no PS5 version was coming.

Better than Skyrim, I can't wait to play it again!

@Vectrex honestly, same. The story is often really dumb, for lack of a better term. Even if it is a bit quaint, it gets a little tiresome.

This is one of the worst kept secrets in gaming.

I love that there is a story for shooting demons. Both ironically and unironically, tbh.

I agree on a lot of points that ironically, Nintendo charging $80 for 3 of its Switch 2 games (2 of which are Switch games enhanced and/or upgraded with content) does make the inevitable price increases for the next PS and Xbox more palatable for a lot of ppl so that is a win for companies. For gamers...not so much.

@RadioHedgeFund tbf, it looks like third parties are generally not charging the same price as Nintendo is for some of its games ($80 is not even Nintendo's standard price, but it's been found for 3 games). Street Fighter 6 is $60 USD on Switch 2, for instance.

@kevinm360 "Parents will be fine." We sure will be since most of us grew up playing video games and know enough about them not to get confused. It isn't 2005, parents today grew up playing video games, and ppl like the one you're replying to don't realize that.

Game prices have already increased without people seeming to notice. But $80 appears to be only on Mario Kart, not necessarily every game. I know that because the new DK game is $70.

In any case, you're kidding yourself if you think Game Pass prices won't increase with time.

I routinely hammer NL for posting non-Nintendo news, so it would be hypocritical of me not to do the same for Px when they post non-Xbox news. I come here for Xbox news, not Nintendo news. Heck, I will be going to Nintendo news sites even less now that Nintendo has the app. Lol
