This is inspiring me to run away from Xbox. Fast, very fast.

Joking aside, physical games looks more appealing now so you’re not tied to any one ecosystem.

@Kaloudz If the games Sony ports to PC a year later don’t sell very well, why would they put those games on an Xbox and lose their console selling exclusives?

Live service games will come to Xbox but that’s it IMO.

I had a good four year ride with free GPU through rewards. They have no nerfed that into oblivion and made it impossible to pay for GPU with them. With them putting games on PS I think this could be the end for me. RIP Xbox, you were a good friend.

@WildConcept6 Here is what I had in mind. I’d like to at least partially future proof but open to suggestions if you have some. I’m not trying for something comparable to PS5, sorry for confusion.

@WildConcept6 If what I wanted to build wasn’t $1,450 I would keep my PS5 and have a PC.

I am however leery of dealing with drivers and such. Console is just so easy with plug and play.

I know this won’t be a popular take but the rewards program is the main reason I’ve had an Xbox. Using it to pay for GP each month kept me with them. Next gen, I don’t see why I’d pay $700+ for a console and then $20+ per month for GP. Will be cheaper to just buy specific games on PS.

It was a good run though.

I don’t understand how people are saying 2-3 hours. I play things quickly and have 3 hours and 16 minutes so far and am not done. I was expecting around 5 hours for $20 so I have no complaints so far. I also have enjoyed the puzzles. Feels like I’m playing a different game.

I haven’t bought a single game on Xbox this gen. Only use GP.

@Questionable_Duck Millions of dollars??? Can you supply any proof of this? From what I’ve seen it costs them roughly six figures to port to PC.

@somnambulance If you don’t like what Xbox has been putting onto GamePass which has been covering the spectrum of genre, such as Expedition 33, Gears Reloaded, Indiana Jones, Lost in Random, Avowed, Blue Prince, Doom and South of Midnight, what do you play?

In the current time of copious amounts of souls and giant open worlds, I welcome any and all linear, story driven games.

I’m very excited about potentially having Steam on my Xbox. My concern is, how will these games run? Right now we are getting games made for a console, if we theoretically bought from Steam, how is that going to work FPS and graphics wise?

Why do you launch a game like this? An apology seems weak when they knew it was a technical mess.

I’ll be honest I far from an optimist but I thought this was a good show. At least 10 games on GP I’ll be playing in the next 12ish months.

I’ve beaten Elden Ring (final boss about broke me) and Bloodborne so maybe there is hope I can play this.

I think what Xbox is doing confirms what he is saying. If they were crushing it with their own subscription service like they had hoped, they would not need to port games to PS/Switch. They had wanted 100M GP subs I think and they’re probably like 35M.

Now on the other hand, GP is awesome for me as I have played so many games I wouldn’t have bought. Great for the consumer, terrible for MS.

Halo, Diablo, Final Fantasy, Uncharted and GoW probably.

Just because of gamepass alone I have. I’ve played around 50 games this gen which has saved a ton of money. Console (X) I’ve had no issues with, love quick resume. Just wish the controller was better. Really prefer my PS5 controller.

I’m still skeptical Xbox will continue down the console road. Their marketing has shifted from it for sure. Developing blades for cloud servers seems far less money intensive than a console? Additionally, an article here today shows they’re crushing sales on PS. I dunno, hope I’m wrong but the suits just want to see more dollars and I don’t see how consoles do that for them.

@XboxNumberOne Nintendo and Sony always start selling at a loss each console gen. If Xbox tries to avoid that completely they may as well not even bother because they will be overpriced.

Interesting point about the cloud servers. How often does that kind of stuff get updated? Will they ditch the series X as servers and move to something else soon?

@Millionski I’m just looking at it from a money view. They don’t make money on console sales but could be the biggest publisher in the world making tons of money that way. If they could get GP on PS I think they’d drop console today.

@Kaloudz That special X is just speckled with same storage as the Pro. A terrible deal in comparison.

I hope you’re right about them not exiting because I’ve gotten some insane value from GP. I just don’t think where it appears things are going.

@Kaloudz I appreciate the optimism but a company charging more for the X than a PS5 Pro is not seriously trying to sell consoles. The handheld is for sure happening. I know they said they’re working on a new console but we are years out and that IMO could be cancelled.

In terms of GP this year has been great. After a bummer of a year last year I gave tons to play and it’s been fun.

Xbox is now run by c-suite MS execs All they care about is the bottom line. The best bottom line for them does not include consoles as they have testified they have NEVER made money on them. Their best route for making money is subs on PC and handheld and 3rd party publisher.

EDIT: I think the fact the handheld is a partnership and not them making it also points to their exit.

@Kaloudz I’m a little confused on how they’ve ever been stronger? In terms of money making, yes. Their strategy of going multiplatform is going to be major damage to the brand for people. They’re losing people now and when they go day one on PS that could be the end of them as a console maker. Maybe I’m just not understanding you but I fully expect they will become a subscription/publisher entity in the near future.

@Ricky-Spanish It feels like a throwback to PS2 into 360 days. No bloat, just a fun linear game. I’m currently in Ch5 without any real complaints. I’m enjoying it more than I enjoyed Avowed for sure.
