MindsEye Dev Shares 'Sincere Apology' With Xbox Hotfix Now In The Works

It's safe to say the launch of third-person action game MindsEye hasn't been the smoothest one so far, and now developer Build a Rocket Boy has apologised for the state of the game on release - while also committing to future patches to iron out these day one issues.

Taking to social media, the team has posted a lengthy message on all of this, while adding that it "sincerely apologizes" for the game's performance on launch. We'll share this apology, alongside the team's list of in-the-works fixes, down below:

"Dear Community,

A heartfelt thank you to all our day-one players. We know the launch of MindsEye hasn’t been without its challenges for some of you.

Right now, our top priority is game performance. We understand that the requirements are high and have limited the experience for many of you, and for this, we sincerely apologize.

Improving performance across all devices is our immediate focus. A patch that begins our commitment to address this is scheduled for the end of this week on PC, which will also roll out to consoles as soon as possible."

This upcoming hotfix will include:

  • Initial CPU and GPU performance improvements, along with memory optimizations.
  • Reduced difficulty for the CPR mini-game.
  • A new setting to disable or modify Depth of Field.
  • A fix for an issue with missing controls for the MineHunter and Run Dungeon mini-games.
  • Pop-up warnings for PCs that have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling disabled, and PCs with CPUs that have potential crash issues.

As we shared in a recent Xbox Series X|S comparison, the game is currently targeting 30FPS on both consoles, and it doesn't manage to stick to that frame rate target on launch. We're also looking at roughly 1440p and 720p in terms of native resolution on both Xbox consoles, respectively.

As for when this upcoming performance hotfix can be expected, well, it sounds like we'll be waiting a little longer for the patch on Xbox. The MindsEye team is aiming for "the end of this week on PC", while adding that the console hotfix will follow PC "as soon as possible".
