Out of nowhere, publisher NetEase has just announced an incredibly ambitious-looking AAA title in development for PC and consoles - in the form of Blood Message. Part Assassin's Creed Shadows, part Tomb Raider reboot, Blood Message is a "narrative-driven, linear action-adventure game" developed by the team behind Naraka: Bladepoint - and it's looking mighty impressive so far.

You can take a good look at the title via the game's reveal trailer up above, which shows quite a nice mix of action and cutscene work across its roughly five-minute length. We're not entirely sure what's gameplay and what's not here - but it all looks believable enough, and rather enticing so far.

Here's the team's official introduction to Blood Message:

"Blood Message is a narrative-driven, linear action-adventure single-player game developed by NetEase ThunderFire's 24 Entertainment Studio, coming to PC and console platforms. The game is based on the true historical event of 'Dunhuang's Uprising'.

Set in the late Tang Dynasty in 848 AD, players take on the role of a nameless messager who embarks on a perilous eastward journey to deliver a message that holds the fate of his homeland.

Alongside his son, they must survive relentless enemy sieges and a treacherous three-thousand-li odyssey, fighting against impossible odds to return to the heart of the Tang: Chang'an. Amidst the desert sands, they etch the final tale of loyalty in the Great Tang.

The world has heard too many stories of emperors and generals—Blood Message is an ode to the unsung heroes."

That's pretty much everything we know about Blood Message so far, with the game targeting PC and consoles at some point in the future but having no solid release date just yet. We'll chuck a couple of stills down below as well so you can get more of a flavour of what to expect:
