I'm sorry you didn't like it, and that it didn't meet your expectations, or some weird hype that you listened to. That does not make it a bad game. Why not wait and see how a game is when it comes out instead of learning about a game in active development years before it comes out? Games constantly change in development.

@somnambulance It's not a you thing. It's just that these are fairly cheap to produce (comparatively), are making decent money for them, and are really the only place where retro-styled turn-based role-playing lives. So while they might look similar, and I get that impression is there (it's not a you thing), they're all pretty different in concept.

(There was also that World of Final Fantasy game, which I think was turn-based, but everyone has forgotten about it, and I never played that one!)

Not sure I care about any of these. Oh well.

@somnambulance people say overdone but how is one game per year overdone? We get like 90 fps every year and a call of duty every year and heaps of generic garbage. I have yet to see a generic looking hd-2d game.

@Sindayl try Octopath 0. Not bland anymore! I liked Octopath 2, too, but it still has that weird disjointed thing where everyone travels together but has no involvement with each other til the end.

@Tasuki @somnambulance there are no mobile mechanics. It’s a full $50 game. It uses story and design elements from brave exvius. That’s it. Persistent internet rumors are not based on fact. Octopath 0 had more elements of its mobile game in it, far more, and it turned out great and has zero gatcha mechanics and no dlc.

Famitsu has gotten kind of weird over the last decade or two tho lol

I was super excited about it til I played the demo. It’s definitely more soulslike than Zelda like. Don’t get why absolutely everything has to be a soulslike anymore.

I’m glad they rebooted dq12. Did not like the dark heavy action game route it was going. Final fantasy already went down that chocobo killing pit.

I’m all for game pass being modular. There’s a lot of stuff on there I don’t need, but I keep ultimate because of the parts I do want that premium doesn’t have.

@CaptnTedo I keep getting many sign in attempts to my Authenticator! Of course it never works because I’d need to tap the correct number for them, and I always tap deny… I asked MS support about it and they weren’t concerned

I am constantly getting notified by Microsoft Authenticator that someone is trying to log in to my account… like multiple times daily. I always tap deny. I should probably figure out how to get a passkey system going.

They sell physical games, so of course they’re against it. They aren’t aware of their own bias. Anyway, physical games are little more than game keys at this point…

They must be time traveling then, because PlayStation had already slowed and then stopped its first party pc ports.

Their stuff is all American anymore anyway, with not much gameplay. At least Microsoft makes RPGs sometimes.

@LeonR Sorry, I lost your comment somewhere. You had mentioned that there will be some hits and that the charts dictate it. That's kind of missing the point. Not every game needs to be a huge hit. Especially with games that have lower budgets, it's not necessary to ride the charts or sell millions of copies. That's not the barometer we should be using. And just because something doesn't top the charts doesn't mean it's trash. I'd rather have 100 indie games, of varying interest and quality, than one AAA checklist game that blows a huge budget on graphics and is exactly like everything else.

@CaptainCluck There is a wide gulf between "philanthropic organization" and "takes money for reviews". And there is a huge difference between actual journalism, and people on youtube who get sponsorships and payment for reviews. You might not agree with IGN's reviews, or with their money or corporate practices, but they are legitimate journalism and hire legitimate journalists to do their reviews. They make their money from clicks and views, not from the company giving them money, unlike many youtubers.

@LeonR what , more call of duty garbage instead? AAA means budget. It doesn’t mean quality. Their biggest game last year was expedition 33 which certainly wasn’t AAA.

A lot of whining over a game that’s $20 retail, available on game pass, and managed to really hit it off with some critics. This is like making a fuss every time a call of duty game gets a good review for doing the same thing year after year and costing a billion dollars and forcing thousands of employees into indentured servitude.

That’s a little disappointing. But I’m not much into crafting anyway. Somehow thought open world van life might sell it for me.
