I don’t know how so many free to play games of similar type can all be sustained.

I’m guessing game of the year won’t be either of them.

I’m also guessing game of the year from one specific show isn’t a make it or break it either if a game is quality.

They never gave any airtime to that demo fest either. What’s their deal with demos?

I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m worried even if it’s good, it’ll be pretty watered down and mainstream. Which is fine. Just not getting my hopes up.

Nothing very exciting for me personally, but we’ll see once the games are done. Maybe fable and beast will be great. Maybe I’ll even like kiln.

Oh jeez. Another one of these sales where you need a spreadsheet and math to figure out if anything is worth it, or if it’s better to buy them individually at sale prices

@Fiendish-Beaver I’m going to ask you to redefine AAA then it generally means a game made by an enormous about of people over an enormous amount of time with an enormous budget.

That doesn’t mean it will be good or bad of course… But the reliance on such games by publishers is the reason we see mass layoffs and other issues. There’s definitely a middle ground.

@Richwalker13 totally agree. Instead of learning the lesson, they doubled down on expensive, bland, 5-year projects. People say “AAA” like it means quality; all it means is budget. The more people, money, and market demographics involved in a game, the less creative and more bland it is. I don’t get why that appeals to anyone.

Make smaller, cheaper, faster, uglier games; make more of them, and make them more creative and better.

Stop making 5-year, huge budget, pretty, bland, uncreative games.

@Fiendish-Beaver yeah, kind of a toss up. But Microsoft has a better rewards program.

Maybe I should pay more attention to ps+ to see what might be coming to game pass. Cult of the lamb is another.

I hope it turns out well. Haven’t played double exposure, but the original two games left a huge impact on me.

MIO kinda looks like we have hollow knight at home. Kinda burnt out on the genre. No interest in RE.

Funny to see final fantasy 2. Are they just gonna go right through all the pixel remasters? I coulda saved some money!

Some great additions— very excited for indika. Talos principle 2 will be great to try out, too. And I’ve had Anno: mutationem on my wishlist for ages.

Lots of these are older, which further galvanizes me to never buy anything, because it might end up on here…

@Titntin I haven’t played through citizen sleeper 1 yet. It’s not leaving, but 2 is. Can I play 2 first??? Or is it advanced enough that playing 1 later will feel like a step backward?

Kinda weird to lose citizen sleeper 2 but not 1. Havent played 1 yet, so I guess I’m out of luck! Have to pony up in the future.

I mean… it’s $5… and looks novel and silly. All the comma-splices in the description made me cringe tho. Maybe that was written by whoever manages the copy for storefronts or whatever.

@FraserG It is a bummer! Maybe a switch got bumped somewhere? It was much handier to check in every month or so and see which demos were new (so that I could download them all and procrastinate on playing them...)

I thought it was neat, but the combat really ruined it for me. I grew up on the original, so just hacking and slashing while the computer controls my companions… is not my thing.

It seems like new demos don’t show up for me on the demos section of the store on console anymore. Or maybe they’re not longer sorted newest to oldest? I’ve been having to just search for things manually.

@Titntin totally agree. I can’t believe that’s what people remember. But many gamers weren’t around during the bullfrog heyday or weren’t paying attention.

I feel like EA ruined maxis, too. Maxis and bullfrog were two of my faves, and both just got pushed into money printing machines.

It’s crazy that you worked there! I always thought it was neat that anyone at the company could submit design ideas. Imagine if more companies were stil like that, if creativity was more important than “AAA” bs and graphics. Psygnosis was a great company too.

I actually emailed Peter as a kid, a long weird silly email, and he wrote back, not just a “thank you for your interest,” but an actual email response.

@Titntin bullfrog was a legend, turning out one fascinating game after another, almost yearly back then.

@Hern4ndeZzz nah, fable 2 did very well. I had a great time with it back in 2009 or so myself !

I’d like a console release. I remember a time when bullfrog and peter always turned out one interesting game after another. I used to buy them whether I liked the genre or not. But I always liked the sims and “god game” stuff.

Nothing I’m interested in. I wish they’d put more indie stuff and niche stuff and rpgs in these sales.

I still seem to average about $20 per month ($10 auto, the rest whenever I want to buy something). Altho I like game pass a lot, rewards is the other thing that keeps me on Xbox. I hardly touch my switch, and my poor ps5 never gets turned on I’m too busy with game pass and free games.

It would be sad if rogue trader left. Not all of season pass 2 is even out yet. You’d think they’d want to keep it on there and sell dlc. I’ve been waiting to play it til all the dlc is out, so if it leaves, I’ll have to buy it.

A controller that doesn’t hurt my hand, is wireless, isn’t so clicky, and has the better vibration tech that competitors have had for 5 years, and costs $60–that would be great, thanks.

I didnt care back then. I only liked Japanese stuff. But even PlayStation is more American than Japanese now.

They got me with the 360 because I wanted oblivion! (Morrowind couldn’t quite get me)

Never got an xb1, but game pass and rewards made me get a series x. I have a ps5 but no time or money for it. Game pass and rewards are too good.

@Tasuki Right, I realize it's Final Fantasy 1 in its entirety, but it's not the whole Pixel Remaster set of 1-6 in its entirety, so it's a "demo" in the sense that you can play (less than) 1/6th of the entirety of the Pixel Remasters.

Final fantasy 1 is a good edition. If people like it, they’ll buy the whole pixel remaster set. Wish sq-en would put more stuff on there like that.

@K1LLEGAL yep I get it. I also dislike playing a demo for a game that I won’t play until some unspecified distant time (whether a month or more). If I played this demo now, and played the full game when it came out (or more likely later), I’d just end up starting over because I wouldn’t remember what I was doing.

I wish they’d make an affordable wireless one that works with series x. I don’t need a pro level controller. I just need one as good as the wired 8bitdo, but wireless on console and not just PC.
