@TapeLoader I'm not sure the idea is to lose the console focus so much as to be a console that can also play some Steam stuff, similar to how a Steamdeck can play some Steam games but obviously not at high spec.
In the case of this current handheld, it's meant to be a Steamdeck competitor that can also play Game Pass and other storefronts.
@TapeLoader I'm saying a cheaper "PC" that runs Xbox stuff, along with Steam, and isn't tethered to the whole monitor/mouse/keyboard thing. It would have a console focus and wouldn't cost what a PC costs. And similar to the Steam Deck, it would be a performance target that would hold system requirements in place.
It's happening regardless of what we may or may not think, and it'll be similar to this device. Whether it runs a new generation of Xbox stuff, who knows, but it'll at least be backward compatible with previous Xbox generations.
Didn’t dungeons of hinterberg just migrate to standard? When that happens does it reset the clock? It would be weird for it to go to standard and then leave a few months later.
Some interesting stuff in here! Hope we see some on game pass.
For me personally I’d prefer screenshots in roundups like these. I don’t have the bandwidth (mentally or data plan) to sit on my phone watching trailers in public 😂
I get most people prefer trailers I guess and have great data plans and whatever
I’m not interested enough to watch it. But I’ll definitely look at the headlines. I’m sure there will be lots of little things I’m interested in. Outer worlds is the only big thing I care about so far.
As good as it might be, I can’t imagine spending that much on a controller.
I just want something wireless that’s affordable and isn’t the stock controller (which would be fine but it gives me a hand cramp—only controller that ever has… and my xbox one controller was fine but is dead)
So it’s in the Xbox app on iOS? How do you download the beta version? My version was updated 6 days ago, but I don’t think that’s the one. Don’t see it on the app.
Sounds interesting. The copilot on the Bing app can be used for about the same stuff, although that one wouldn’t have access to your Xbox profile and stats.
DQ1&2 is my plan for all my rewards points in October! Not sure if I’ll play it right away or wait til June next year to play, but I’ll definitely buy it right away.
Well I mean if it’s gonna sell more than 3.3 million, it had to hit 3.3 at some point…
Definitely a great game! The further you get, the more you can see where they had to limit the scope. But that’s not a bad thing. That’s part of what makes it great.
Gotta know more about it first but probably not—if it did game pass and steam I might be interested! Might be more interested in a proper Xbox handheld tho.
What I’m really interested in, is if NeXtBox (in 2027 or 2028 or whatever) will be a windows pc, play game pass, play Steam, and do all my other pc stuff too.
@Fishticon no idea, but if there were a simple solution, I’d guess they’d already do it. Maybe it’s a licensing thing where they have the license to stream but not actually distribute.
For the people saying “why can’t it be downloaded,” they’d have to figure out how to make every game run on an Xbox. These are old games, DOS and Amiga and Atari. Each one would need a specific emulation solution. I’m not sure how they’re running them right now on their servers. It might be fpga for all we know.
The lone sega cd game has its original long load times.
The first area was magical for me. Learning how to do the quests, and sometimes the music was just perfect, plus that sort of rural sun-soaked grassland vibe it had going.
That said, it’s not perfect. The gameplay can be pretty simplistic, so it has to rely on strong narrative. Otherwise it’s just clicking on things, killing things, and clicking more things. The “detective” segments with Witcher vision are particularly simple busy work, but it still provides some variety.
Unless you rush the main story and ignore all side content, it’s a pretty big game to finish in a month.
Me personally, I was already playing Clair obscur (which has also taken me more than a month). Time is hard to come by. And I’m not sure I’ll immediately go into oblivion as soon as I’m done.
I still get roughly $20 free Xbox bucks monthly. Maybe a little less. That’s still a full priced game or so every 3 months. Or lots of on sale games, which is smarter.

Re: High On Life 2 Launches Day One On Xbox Game Pass This Winter
So who's doing the voices and writing and stuff since it's not the original guy?

Re: Xbox Handheld Is Called 'ROG Xbox Ally', Releases Holiday 2025
@TapeLoader You can level the same complaints at this handheld then, but here it is happening. It's not a terrible idea. It's a good one.
The idea is it would be cheaper and more standardized than a PC, similar to a Steam Deck. Valve at one point was floating the idea of a Steam Box.
Re: Xbox's The Outer Worlds 2 Launches On Game Pass This October
Gotta play the first one before October-ish then! Jeez. Busy year.
Re: Indiana Jones 'The Order Of Giants' Expansion Whips Onto Xbox In September 2025
Not on Game Pass, though, right? Obviously they want to sell the DLC to Game Pass players, which makes sense.
I'll see how good it is and how long it is. And what it costs.
Re: Clockwork Revolution Debuts First-Person RPG Gameplay Ahead Of Xbox Game Pass Release
Been looking forward to this one. For some reason I thought it was turn-based, though, so I'm a little disappointed!
Re: Xbox Handheld Is Called 'ROG Xbox Ally', Releases Holiday 2025
I don't get why people are so annoyed with the naming. Ally is fine. Ally X for the more powerful one is fine.
Re: Xbox Handheld Is Called 'ROG Xbox Ally', Releases Holiday 2025
Seems like a good move to me.
This is what they should do for their next console, make an Xbox that runs Windows and Steam but is still a console and Game Pass machine.
(Nintendo should do the same, release a TV Switch 2 for cheaper than the useless, massive, no battery life "portable.")
Re: RGG Studio's New Game Is Called 'Stranger Than Heaven', And It Looks Suitably Awesome
@TruestoryYep Well you have plenty to choose from then.
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Summer Game Fest 2025 Showcase?
Not much I was into, but that’s usually the case from AAA trailer fests.
Re: RGG Studio's New Game Is Called 'Stranger Than Heaven', And It Looks Suitably Awesome
I’d be super interested if it was turn-based like Like a Dragon 7 and 8, but the action brawler thing is kind of old for me after so many games.
Re: Here's What Might Leave Xbox Game Pass In July 2025
Case of the golden idol
Dungeons of hinterberg
Neon white
Tchia
Magical delicacy
All fantastic games. I didn’t try kunitsu-gami, but I’ll need to.

Re: Report: SEGA To Announce Persona 4 Remake At Xbox Games Showcase 2025

Re: These 10 Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (June 5-17)
Nothing I’m very excited about which is fine. I’m backed up.
The Alters is interesting tho and might end up on my list
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles Releases For Xbox This September
That’s a surprise… I think it’s cool that they’re not doing a ton of changes to it (apparently).

Re: Opinion: CDPR Needs To Be Careful With Its Marketing For The Witcher 4 On Xbox
Totally agree. I don’t think this is specifically an Xbox issue tho so why the “on Xbox” epithet? Seems like it applies equally to everything.
Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Metaphor: ReFantazio On Xbox Game Pass?
@Jenkinss what are your other recent faves? For me, Clair obscur, chained echoes, and sea of stars. And metaphor!
Re: Two Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (June 3)
Oops I was thinking of crypt master. Dang it. Maybe this is good too, just not the same!
Re: The Witcher 4 Gets Full Gameplay Reveal, And It Looks Absolutely Stunning
Wow! I had been skeptically thinking it might end up on the next generation of systems. Guess not! Maybe we’ll see it in 2027
And then they’ll do a special edition in 2028 for ps6 etc
Re: Xbox First-Party Game 'Tell Me Why' Is Now Free To Claim For Everyone
@Beetlebum91 representation isn’t nonsense.
Re: Xbox First-Party Game 'Tell Me Why' Is Now Free To Claim For Everyone
I was wondering how I ended up owning this.
I’d still like to play it!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 31 - June 1)
Gotta finish Clair obscur! It deserves more dedicated play time from me. I’ve been playing it since it came out and loving pretty much every moment.
After that, been meaning for ages to play Dragon quest 3, dungeons of hinterberg, and so many more.
Re: Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In June 2025
Crypt Custodian!! Glad I didn’t buy it! Saves me some money!
Also very interested in the alters. And didn’t play against the Storm on pc so am very interested in that as well.
Another excellent month

Re: Xbox 'Bundles Sale' Now Live, Featuring Some Hefty Discounts On AAA Titles
Can definitely understand why you guys don’t include prices. Must take ages.

That’s mostly more like AA stuff—not that I mind!!

Part of the issue is that act 1 is fairly polished, and the rest is not polished, in this Polish game.
Maybe it will get ironed out in a year.

Re: Review: Xbox Retro Classics - A Great Addition To Game Pass, With Just One Caveat
Some games (police quest for instance) have a text parser input, which is pretty rough with a virtual keyboard.
In other games, the mouse moves way too fast! I think they fixed that tho.
I have a good internet connection, and it still lags and artifacts at times. I don’t notice any input delay tho, which is nice.
Re: Xbox Retro Classics: The Full List Of Games Included At Launch
There’s a bunch of old Sierra games on here! Been waiting for them to do ANYTHING with those.
Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Adding Another 'Game Of The Year' Next Week
Wow. Definitely my personal goty for last year. That’s a big win for gpu.
Re: Talking Point: 25 Years On, What Do You Think Of The 'Perfect Dark' Franchise?
They were at the right place at the right time and rode on goldeneyes coattails, which was also at the right place at the right time.

Re: Avowed Update 1.4 Now Live, Full Roadmap For 2025 Also Revealed
I should’ve waited to play it. They’ve really added a lot of nice things.
I’d buy an expansion and play it, especially with all this new stuff.
Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel You've Had Value For Money With Your Xbox Series X|S?
Along with GPU and Microsoft rewards, I dare say my series X is the best value I’ve ever had in gaming.

I wonder if it all works correctly now or if it’s still worth waiting for more patches.
