Neverwinter nights 1 does have the pre rendered backgrounds, and polygonal characters. 2 went to full real time 3D for everything. It was pretty at time of release, but it’s been a long time since then! Some of the campaigns are pretty great and some are meh. I don’t remember which is which…

I’m excited for demon school.

I’d be more excited for neverwinter nights 2 if obsidian had anything to do with the remaster.

Something for everybody kinda/sorta. No turn-based RPGs, though, or turn-based games in general, is a bit disappointing. (Besides Persona 4, of course, which, yeah--will play)

The Grand Hotel one probably sounds the most interesting, but I'm curious about Double Fine and Don't Nod's games as well.

@FraserG Pocket Card Jockey is great. They've had a few good, interesting games.

These days, they can't even seem to get Pokemon right (although I loved Arceus), but I guess we'll see! I too am a little nervous about the "technical" action combat. Not trying to play sekiro over here.

I guess Game Freak isn't a Nintendo 1st party or 2nd party studio?

@TapeLoader I'm not sure the idea is to lose the console focus so much as to be a console that can also play some Steam stuff, similar to how a Steamdeck can play some Steam games but obviously not at high spec.

In the case of this current handheld, it's meant to be a Steamdeck competitor that can also play Game Pass and other storefronts.

@TapeLoader I'm saying a cheaper "PC" that runs Xbox stuff, along with Steam, and isn't tethered to the whole monitor/mouse/keyboard thing. It would have a console focus and wouldn't cost what a PC costs. And similar to the Steam Deck, it would be a performance target that would hold system requirements in place.

It's happening regardless of what we may or may not think, and it'll be similar to this device. Whether it runs a new generation of Xbox stuff, who knows, but it'll at least be backward compatible with previous Xbox generations.

The idea is it would be cheaper and more standardized than a PC, similar to a Steam Deck. Valve at one point was floating the idea of a Steam Box.

This is what they should do for their next console, make an Xbox that runs Windows and Steam but is still a console and Game Pass machine.

(Nintendo should do the same, release a TV Switch 2 for cheaper than the useless, massive, no battery life "portable.")

Not much I was into, but that’s usually the case from AAA trailer fests.

I’d be super interested if it was turn-based like Like a Dragon 7 and 8, but the action brawler thing is kind of old for me after so many games.

Didn’t dungeons of hinterberg just migrate to standard? When that happens does it reset the clock? It would be weird for it to go to standard and then leave a few months later.

Gotta finish Clair obscur! It deserves more dedicated play time from me. I’ve been playing it since it came out and loving pretty much every moment.

After that, been meaning for ages to play Dragon quest 3, dungeons of hinterberg, and so many more.

Also very interested in the alters. And didn’t play against the Storm on pc so am very interested in that as well.

Another excellent month

I’m not interested enough to watch it. But I’ll definitely look at the headlines. I’m sure there will be lots of little things I’m interested in. Outer worlds is the only big thing I care about so far.

As good as it might be, I can’t imagine spending that much on a controller.

I just want something wireless that’s affordable and isn’t the stock controller (which would be fine but it gives me a hand cramp—only controller that ever has… and my xbox one controller was fine but is dead)

So it’s in the Xbox app on iOS? How do you download the beta version? My version was updated 6 days ago, but I don’t think that’s the one. Don’t see it on the app.

Sounds interesting. The copilot on the Bing app can be used for about the same stuff, although that one wouldn’t have access to your Xbox profile and stats.

DQ3 is my plan for June.

DQ1&2 is my plan for all my rewards points in October! Not sure if I’ll play it right away or wait til June next year to play, but I’ll definitely buy it right away.

Definitely a great game! The further you get, the more you can see where they had to limit the scope. But that’s not a bad thing. That’s part of what makes it great.

Gotta know more about it first but probably not—if it did game pass and steam I might be interested! Might be more interested in a proper Xbox handheld tho.

What I’m really interested in, is if NeXtBox (in 2027 or 2028 or whatever) will be a windows pc, play game pass, play Steam, and do all my other pc stuff too.

Part of the issue is that act 1 is fairly polished, and the rest is not polished, in this Polish game.

Maybe it will get ironed out in a year.

@Fishticon no idea, but if there were a simple solution, I’d guess they’d already do it. Maybe it’s a licensing thing where they have the license to stream but not actually distribute.

For the people saying “why can’t it be downloaded,” they’d have to figure out how to make every game run on an Xbox. These are old games, DOS and Amiga and Atari. Each one would need a specific emulation solution. I’m not sure how they’re running them right now on their servers. It might be fpga for all we know.

The lone sega cd game has its original long load times.

Some games (police quest for instance) have a text parser input, which is pretty rough with a virtual keyboard.

In other games, the mouse moves way too fast! I think they fixed that tho.

I have a good internet connection, and it still lags and artifacts at times. I don’t notice any input delay tho, which is nice.

There’s a bunch of old Sierra games on here! Been waiting for them to do ANYTHING with those.

They were at the right place at the right time and rode on goldeneyes coattails, which was also at the right place at the right time.

Well that’s a loss. She does good work.

The first area was magical for me. Learning how to do the quests, and sometimes the music was just perfect, plus that sort of rural sun-soaked grassland vibe it had going.

That said, it’s not perfect. The gameplay can be pretty simplistic, so it has to rely on strong narrative. Otherwise it’s just clicking on things, killing things, and clicking more things. The “detective” segments with Witcher vision are particularly simple busy work, but it still provides some variety.

Unless you rush the main story and ignore all side content, it’s a pretty big game to finish in a month.

Me personally, I was already playing Clair obscur (which has also taken me more than a month). Time is hard to come by. And I’m not sure I’ll immediately go into oblivion as soon as I’m done.
