Yeah it was pretty unfair and not particularly well timed. I guess they didn’t want to interfere with the doom release which makes sense. But they dropped so close to other game pass games that they should have at least been aware of, if not games like post trauma too.
I just want one that’s affordable, wireless, and doesn’t hurt my hands. I was using an Xbox one controller til the sticks started to drift. Nothing else sensible exists for wireless except the official series X/S controller, so I’m stuck using an (otherwise excellent) wired 8bitdo.
@FraserG I maybe need to try Dragoon again. I had it at the time of release and just did not mesh with it at all. It felt like a game younger people played when they didn't have access or taste for better games But maybe I'm wrong.
@johnedwin I meant for me personally, not for gaming fandom. I could give two squibs which game Jeff Keely thinks is the best game. And I’m well aware of oblivion; played it in 2006 Mario kart peaked in 1992
They’re both fantastic. And having oblivion to look forward to (one of my faves of all time), and having just finished the excellent (but maybe a little padded) avowed, the only problem with this year is there hasn’t been more time.
I’m terrible at the parry and dodge. Lowering the difficulty fixes that, but then it also lowers the amount of damage I take and some other stuff I don’t want. Wish there were just separate options.
@Lup I do understand tho. I’m constantly lost in games, particularly FPS, and always have been… And then in games with a minimap I just stare at the map and don’t even see the game. I do like the compass system many games use tho.
@Caveman49 maybe that’s the problem. You need to try it for yourself instead of just watching…
As for this game, the combat hinges around quick time events, sort of, to make attacks connect and enhance damage. Sea of stars and super mario rpg do something similar.
@Caveman49 you should try some turn based games instead of having an “instant no”. You’re missing out. Nothing should be an instant no if it’s a good game.
They should have given this game more room to breathe. I hope it still does well, sandwiched between avowed at a decent distance and oblivion just days before.
@BacklogBrad yep. I really like it, one of my favorite games of all time, and I’ve been desperate for this for years. But you’re right. Not that I mind that it’s getting a ton of positive press. The success of this, avowed, and hopefully Clair obscur, can only be a good thing.
@themightyant yeah I don’t get why they released it so close to Clair obscur, especially with many people (me!) just barely finishing avowed (which I really enjoyed).
@Fishysensei I’m surprised people are dismayed by the price. $50 seems pretty sensible to me. Way more work was put into this than they’d recoup selling it for $20.
Anyway when Nintendo is charging $80 for Mario kart and most new games are $70, $50 isn’t full price…
@xboxjapanfan that’s too bad about the delay. I’m just finishing up avowed, and I loved it! I’d recommend playing through it fast at least if you don’t have time to do all the side quests.
I haven’t gotten one. But I have lots of Microsoft points, have $10 credit in my account already, and purchase things fairly regularly. That might exempt me from the likely pool

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Do You Find Time For All These Amazing 2025 Games?
There isn’t enough time I still have 2023 and 2024 games I haven’t gotten to.
Avowed took me a lot longer than I’d planned. People were saying it’s short; 75 hours isn’t short!
Re: Turtle Beach Adds Two New Budget Controllers To Its Xbox Lineup
I really need a wireless controller that isn’t a million bucks or the stock.
Re: Two Xbox Game Pass Titles Are Available This Week To Finish Off April 2025
Neither, but I’m plenty busy anyway with blue prince, Clair obscur, and oblivion
Re: Oblivion's Remastered Team Is Taking Player Suggestions On Board
Some starter faces to begin with, and modify, for each race would be nice.
Dungeon clear tags are a must
Re: Chinese RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Gets July Release Date For Xbox Game Pass
Soulslike fatigue

Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Reminding People Of This Classic Xbox 360 JRPG
@FraserG I maybe need to try Dragoon again. I had it at the time of release and just did not mesh with it at all. It felt like a game younger people played when they didn't have access or taste for better games But maybe I'm wrong.
Lost Odyssey is still on another level tho
Re: Two Xbox Game Pass Titles Reach Incredible Player Milestones During Launch Week
@themightyant seems like they underestimated it, the same as they underestimated baldurs gate 3
Re: Two Xbox Game Pass Titles Reach Incredible Player Milestones During Launch Week
I hope blue prince isn’t getting left behind
Re: PSA: These Six Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass This Week (April 30)
Thirsty suitors was fantastic.
I don’t think I’ll get through Kona 2 before it leaves tho. Seems cool.
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Reminding People Of This Classic Xbox 360 JRPG
Clair obscur is a lot better package than legend of dragoon tho… sorry dragoon fans. I never understood the love for that one.
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Reminding People Of This Classic Xbox 360 JRPG
Xbox needs to remaster lost odyssey too. It wouldn’t need much. Doesn’t need the full oblivion treatment!
But that doesn’t seem to be happening, and it actually looks and plays fantastic on Series consoles. It’s aged really well.
Re: Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In May 2025
I’d be super stoked for dredge if I hadn’t already bought it! Anno might be fun tho.
Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 So Far?
@VoidPunk are you kidding? This game bleeds French philosophy and vibes. I’m not sure what more you’d want.
Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 So Far?
@johnedwin I meant for me personally, not for gaming fandom. I could give two squibs which game Jeff Keely thinks is the best game. And I’m well aware of oblivion; played it in 2006 Mario kart peaked in 1992
Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 So Far?
It’s hard to imagine anything else beating this out for me this year, which is crazy since I’ve been wanting more oblivion for almost 20 years.
Re: These 20+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (April 28 - May 2)
I’ll give Anno 1800 a try. I always miss those when they’re on here for some reason.
That subway sim game actually sounds kinda cool…
Re: 2025's Two Best-Reviewed Games Are Both Xbox Game Pass Titles
They’re both fantastic. And having oblivion to look forward to (one of my faves of all time), and having just finished the excellent (but maybe a little padded) avowed, the only problem with this year is there hasn’t been more time.
Re: Frostpunk 2 Hits Xbox Game Pass In Summer 2025, New 'Frostpunk 1886' Game Also Announced
Hope 1886 is on game pass too!
Re: GOTY Contender Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (April 24)
@Millionski three goty contenders with blue prince as well!
I also really enjoyed avowed. No time for rogue trader yet!
Re: GOTY Contender Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (April 24)
@FarmDog08 I also finished avowed last night!
Re: GOTY Contender Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (April 24)
Don’t sleep on it
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Top Tips & Tricks For Beginners
@Millionski play both! Clair obscur is about a 30-60 hour game, depending how much stuff you do.
Oblivion is a 20-200 hour game, but they’re too different in scope to really compare that way
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Top Tips & Tricks For Beginners
I’m terrible at the parry and dodge. Lowering the difficulty fixes that, but then it also lowers the amount of damage I take and some other stuff I don’t want. Wish there were just separate options.
Re: Free Play Days: Try These Xbox Games For Free (April 24-27)
Alien isolation used to actually be on game pass…
Re: OG Oblivion Dev Not Sure Bethesda's 'Remaster' Title Actually Does It Justice
I’m glad to see it getting recognition. Skyrim was so watered down.
Re: Here's How Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Running On Xbox Series X And S
@Kaloudz it holds up. This and lost odyssey are more final fantasy than final fantasy has been for 25 years
Re: Here's How Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Running On Xbox Series X And S
It looks stunning in quality mode
Re: Sunderfolk Brings Its Phone-Based RPG To Xbox Consoles Today
Sounds pretty neat actually. But I like single player stuff…
Re: Roundup: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Getting Incredible Reviews So Far
I had my fingers crossed for sure, but I never would have expected this.
Re: PSA: Xbox Game Pass Gets Another Huge Day One Release This Week
@Lup I do understand tho. I’m constantly lost in games, particularly FPS, and always have been… And then in games with a minimap I just stare at the map and don’t even see the game. I do like the compass system many games use tho.

Re: PSA: Xbox Game Pass Gets Another Huge Day One Release This Week
@Lup I agree. I wouldn’t write it off just because of no minimap tho…
Re: Oblivion Remastered Has A Very Cheap 'Deluxe Edition Upgrade' On Xbox
@Fishysensei easy mistake to make!
Re: PSA: Xbox Game Pass Gets Another Huge Day One Release This Week
@Lup oblivion doesn’t have a minimap either. Minimaps really take a person out of the experience. But so can getting lost!
Most games without minimaps are designed around the lack thereof. Minimaps lead to lazy design.
Re: PSA: Xbox Game Pass Gets Another Huge Day One Release This Week

Re: Oblivion Remastered Players Share Their Initial Reviews On Xbox, PS5 & PC
It definitely doesn’t feel like a new game to me. Not that I mind.
Re: Oblivion Remastered Has A Very Cheap 'Deluxe Edition Upgrade' On Xbox
@AndroidBango well it was a shadow drop since they announced nothing about it until now. Leaks don’t really count.
Re: Oblivion Remastered Has A Very Cheap 'Deluxe Edition Upgrade' On Xbox

Re: Oblivion Remastered Has A Very Cheap 'Deluxe Edition Upgrade' On Xbox
It’s $10 for horse armor all over again!
I wonder what the extra quests are like. I’m not really interested in the extra addons
It would be neat if they did another full on expansion for the game
Re: Hands On: Oblivion Remastered Is Impressive, But There Are Some Performance Issues At Launch
@xboxjapanfan that’s too bad about the delay. I’m just finishing up avowed, and I loved it! I’d recommend playing through it fast at least if you don’t have time to do all the side quests.
Re: Hands On: Oblivion Remastered Is Impressive, But There Are Some Performance Issues At Launch
Archery feels kinda weird and floaty. I don’t quite get it yet.
Re: Xbox Game Studios: All Microsoft First-Party Developers & What They're Working On
Lawd. Half the projects are call of duty.
Re: Bethesda Officially Announces Oblivion Remastered, Full Reveal Coming Tomorrow
I hope they didn’t mess up one of my favorite games of all time.
Still, why announced this a day before another high profile rpg drops on game pass?
Re: Microsoft Is Handing Out Free Xbox Gift Cards For The Spring Sale 2025
I haven’t gotten one. But I have lots of Microsoft points, have $10 credit in my account already, and purchase things fairly regularly. That might exempt me from the likely pool
Re: Two Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (April 17)
Definitely want to give tempopo a try. I loved unpacking.
No interest in the “do work” genre of games tho. If I wanted to clean stuff, my house needs cleaning…
